Gemini went in a cab and made her way to her mother’s house. She wanted to know why her mother had attacked her that day. The thought of it all made her somehow worried but angry at the same time. She was only a couple of mikes from her mother’s place. Her phone and it viewed Layton, she then knew the hospital had informed him. She ignored the call but the phone rang even more and it annoyed her.
“What is it?” Gemini said quite annoyed.
“Where the hell is you?!” Layton yelled over the phone making Gemini hold it at a distance.
“I felt down so I decided to take a small walk.” Gemini joked but Layton was not amused.
“This isn’t a joke Gem do you better tell me where you are?!” Gemini stared at a passing billboard.
“Am in a cab. You told me to stand up for myself and that’s exactly what am doing so don’t tell me otherwise!” Layton knew exactly what she meant.
“You are crazy! You almost died and you’re going there!”
“I almost but am not dead. That child deserved better hon and I can’t let it slip.” Layton sighed.
“We can do this together, I don’t want to lose you too.” A tear fell from Gemini’s cheeks.
“You won’t, I know what am doing okay. I just want to hear the reason why and I promise I will leave before it gets ugly.” Layton still didn’t like the sound of it all.
“Just come back and we’ll handle it, I’ll handle it.” Gemini wanted to hear the reason herself.
“Am sorry. Bye.” Before Layton could talk Gemini had canceled the call.
She told the driver to stop by the street since she didn’t want her mother to be alerted of her arrival. Though she also knew her mother had no idea she knew of her crime. She knocked on the front door and in less than minutes her mother opened the door.
“Oh, honey I didn’t expect to see you.” Gemini got in but struggled to contain the anger in her.
“I thought of paying you a visit or where you expecting to see someone else.” Her mother laughed.
“Not at all. It’s that you never told me you were going to visit.” Gemini looked around and spotted a distant knife on the table.
“Come sit.” Her mother spoke up leading her into the living room. She sat on the large couch.
“You look well. ” Gemini looked sharply at the woman.
“I was in an accident a few days ago.” The woman choked on her tea.
“Really! I didn’t know, was it a car accident?” Gemini slowly nodded, she felt even angrier at her mother’s act. The woman walked towards Gemini and tried to embrace her. Gemini swiftly grabbed the knife and pinned it on her mother’s neck as her other hand grabbed her hair. Her mother looked in surprise.
“What are you doing?” She tried to break free from her mother’s grip.
“You are pathetic and a sorry excuse of a mother!” Gemini pushed the woman to the ground.
“What are you talking about?” The woman stumbled.
“You act like you know nothing but you know more than any of us!” Gemini pointed the knife at her and tears rolled down her mother’s cheeks.
“I would never attack you! You’re my daughter why would I want to kill you? Don’t you trust me?!” There was silence and Gemini smiled.
“Mom trust does not give it is earned at least that’s what I have been told and trusting you was the biggest mistake of my life plus I never told of any attack.” Her mother froze then smiled clapping her hands.
“Looks like Layton’s doing his part. He has successfully corrupted your congratulations.”
“He never corrupted me, he’s actually helped me without him I would have died but he taught me how to fight.” Her mother stood up.
“leave him before it is too late.”
“I told you I would never leave him and that’s final.” She stepped back then smiled.
“Too bad you would have been such a great fighter.” Before Gemini knew it her mother pulled out a gun, identical to the first she had used.
“Let’s see you survive this one.” Gemini sighed closing her eyes.
“Drop the damn knife.” Her mother commanded so she did as she said.
“Why are you doing this mom?” She tore. “All I wanted was a happy and peaceful family.” She continued.
“They killed your father and left me to mourn! This is the least I can do to pay back my father’s death!” The woman tried to hold back her tears.
“He was my father to mom but I made peace with it all, why can’t you? Do you think dad would want this?” The woman thought.
“He wanted us to live as one not to start a war between us. If you can’t do this for me then do this for him and help me achieve his dying wish.” The woman knew her daughter was right. She looked at a distant mirror and saw herself in it. She cried seeing what she had become, she was ashamed that she was willing to kill her daughter. She threw the gun on the chair and fell on her knees crying her eyed out. Gemini ran to her and hugged her.
“I am sorry…. please forgive me!!” The woman begged. The two cried.
“I do and I will always.” She quickly dried her tears.
