“I am his wife after all so I do have the right to know.” Valentine gulped. He did know it was her right to know but he was strictly told not to.
“She was like any other mother.” Gemini knew he was lying to her. She had always heard of him complain or talk about his mother.
“Why don’t you tell me the truth. You don’t have to lie to me.” Valentine sighed heavily.
“His mother was born the land of childless mothers. She was taken and raised by the women of the land, I only know little of it.” Gemini was all ears waiting to hear the rest.
“What was her name?”
“Alyssa was her name well at least that’s what they call her. She wasn’t very bright and joyful as her name but she was fearless.” Gemini heard her phone ring and quickly Ignored it.
“Not many people know this but as the woman there she also was unable to bear children so made her vow and later was able to have her child.” Gemini shivered terribly, she wanted to hear more of the story.
“How did she meet up with Layton’s father?”
“Some people might say it was a coincidence but their meeting was the purpose. The woman she was raised with informed her of the king’s presence.” Gemini never knew the family had such many problems.
“How strange that they actually met after all.”
“That’s the thing, it wasn’t a coincidence. Curses come in different ways and states.”
“So you’re saying he was cursed?”
“Not really. My answers were answered once I found her book, some kind of diary you could say. She wrote all kinds of stuff. That’s made me believe that she used some sort of curse or spell on him.” Gemini was surprised that such people used spells to get what they wanted.
“So that’s how he married her. Does Layton know of this?” Valentine shrugged.
“Not sure but I believe he does. He never liked his mother for the things she did, she had her first son but she killed him just so she could live a luxurious life, used him as a sacrifice.” Gemini’s eyes widened with shock, she personally would never do such a thing.
“What happened to her?”
“Layton killed her of course for his own personal reasons, that I would understand but I never understood why he had killed his father.” Gemini bit her lip hard.
“That’s all I know plus your store is in the order you know, you can go work any time even today.” Gemini squeaked in excitement. She got a car ready to take her to the store and of course, Valentine arranged for some men to accompany her. They drove to the store and it looked even better the day before.
She walked through the store examining the place more. Valentine had already assigned extra workers to help out.
“Hey am Rosé, you must be Gemini right.” Gemini smiled and nodded. She was able to know the rest of the stuff she was going to be working with. She was able to work for some time but quickly left the shop.
She made her back to the pack’s territory. She watched TV for a while. Evan walked in and noticed Gemini.
“Have you seen Valentine anywhere?” Gemini searched her memory.
“No, I haven’t seen him since I left.”
“You mean he didn’t go with you?” Gemini shook her head leaving Evan confused.
“He said he was going to visit your shop so I thought he was with you.” Gemini raised a brow.
“He didn’t come by.”
“Guess he’s by the café shop. Heard he goes there every night to cool off.” Evan soon left. Gemini thought having a little walk would help ease her boredom. She left a letter saying she would go look for him by the table knowing Evan would pass by any time.
She wore warm clothes. The men Valentine had assigned to Gemini asked to accompany but she refused.
“It’s just some feet away, I won’t belong.” She said to the guards and they were easily convinced.
She walked towards the café and looked for the alpha but unfortunately, he was not there. She had asked the waitress about his presence.
“Oh, Valentine? No, I haven’t seen him and it is a shock that he didn’t visit today.” Gemini thought then smiled.
“Thanks.” Gemini left the café and decided to take the long root back. She walked a couple of steps in the dark empty road. She felt her skin tingle and instantly knew she was not alone but ignored it. She walked even more steps and noticed the person still following her.
She turned to the darkened room.
“Who are you and why are you following me?” Gemini yelled at the darkness. Her eyes widened as she saw the weapon in front of her. A gunshot was heard through the thick air. Gemini fell to the ground gasping for air as the images blurred. She was only able to spot a detail of the killer.
Gemini awoke in the hospital feeling great pain all over her body. She felt tears run down her cheeks as she stared at the ceiling. The door swung open and Layton ran inside with Valentine.
“Are you okay? What happened?” All Gemini could do was cry. Layton turned furiously at Valentine.
“I told you to protect her and you gave me your word!!” Valentine hesitated and trembled.
“It wasn’t his fault,” Gemini said in a weak voice as she struggled to sit up. Layton rushed over and helped her sit up.
