After a long terrible night, the pack members planned on going back. They again packed their luggage and took their journey. The journey was long and boring for the two couples. They finally came home and Gemini felt worn out, she had been noticing these types of symptoms for a while followed by back pains and unbearable headaches. She ignored the sudden illness and slept.
“The maid said you hadn’t taken your dinner. May I ask why?” She rolled to her left side.
“I wasn’t hungry and I already had a heavy meal on our way back.” He noticed the change in her voice.
“If you are not feeling okay I can take you to the hospital.”
“No thanks, I am okay am just not hungry.” Layton wanted to know what was bothering her.
“Are you still angry at me?” Gemini stayed a little while without answering.
“I don’t want to talk about it Lay, please am tired.” The headache grew and a tear fell from her eyes.
“Talk is listening, if you are still angry at me then tell me.” He brushed her hair off of her face.
“Am not angry with you, it’s just that I am exhausted and tired.” Layton understood letting her take her rest. He thought of all that had happened and tried to conclude it all.
Weeks passed and the symptoms got worse for Gemini, she had tried to get medication but they all didn’t work. One afternoon Gemini sat by the bench outside and thought to herself when Arlene walked over.
“I heard you haven’t been doing well.” Arlene kindly said.
“Did Layton tell you? I am alright though.”
“Layton told me nothing but I did notice the mountain of medication on the kitchen counter.” Gemini realized she had forgotten to return them.
“I had a mere headache so I was looking for the right medication.” Arlene nodded and there was a deadly silence, Gemini wanted to know what was happening to her.
“You said you had children right?” Gemini asked.
“Oh yes, three of them but one passed on.”
“What happened?”
“Those days we were mostly advised to give birth to female children and not male so my last born was a male and obeying orders the child was killed.” Gemini wasn’t mostly shocked since she knew how heartless they were.
“I can say I am not surprised.” Arlene giggled.
“Why not? You have heard of it before?”
“No, I just know nothing good ever happens here.” Gemini wondered if the cause of her sickness was an expectation.
“But we all do these things for a reason and reasons only.”
After the long talk, Gemini decided to visit a medical store just to be sure. She walked through the store knowing what she wanted.
“You must be his new wife, I saw you with him someday
” One woman called out at the girl.
“Yes she is, what are you doing all alone?! Aren’t you suppose to be with someone, I mean a bodyguard.” Some other brown-haired woman yelled making Gemini feel uncomfortable.
“I decided to come alone and how do you know me?” They all laughed.
“News spread sweetheart, you think locking yourself in would make you unknown.” Gemini noticed that the redhead was much ruder than the other either though she failed to leave the store.
“You all must be doing something important if it meant concealing yourselves.”
“Am pretty sure they are responsible for the girl’s death.” They all accused Gemini and Gemini couldn’t defend herself.
” If you have questions then why don’t you ask me?” A sharp voice said behind the girl. Gemini turned and saw Strider staring at them.
“And who are you? Her bodyguard.” The women laughed once more and it annoyed Strider greatly.
“I said if you have any complaints about us then tell me, don’t tell her she’s not part of it.” There was silence.
“Don’t any of you have anything better to do than gossip and mind other people’s business!!” The veins on Antony’s arms pop out giving him a fierce look.
“We were just curious.” The brown-haired woman said and the other nodded.
“Then keep that curiosity to yourselves and leave her out of this!!”
“Well, we heard you all were partly responsible for the incident.” An older man spoke up holding a bottle of alcohol and the others agreed.
“Just cause we were found at the crime scene it doesn’t mean we are responsible.” The people in the shop refused to listen to Strider’s statement.
“Let’s go, we shouldn’t waste our time here,” Antony whispered in Gemini’s ear and they made their way out.
“Thank you, why did you defend me though?” They got into the car.
“I have to after all it’s my duty and Layton told me you keep an eye on you.” This time Gemini was a gland that Layton had given Antony that order.
“What were you doing there anyway?” Gemini bit her lip and felt her stomach, she was a hundred percent sure she might be pregnant.
“Just looking around you don’t know how boring it is back home.” Strider chuckled.
“I could only imagine but I don’t blame you.” This was the first time she and Antony had a proper chat making Gemini feel confident about their friendship.
“But Layton won’t be that happy so you’ll need a better explanation.”
