” Then how did you survivor on your own?”
“I was raised by humans so I had to adapt to their actions.” She tried to make sense of her past.
“I guess we have something in common after all.” They both shared a little laugh. Strider then took more time to know her and realized she wasn’t as bad as he thought she was.
“How long will this end?” Gemini stared at the giant clock on the wall.
“It only lasts for a day.”
“What is this all about anyway? It really does not make sense.”
“It’s a long story but it isn’t important either.” The day went on smoothly as the two talked more.
It was nightfall and everything finally ended, Gemini left the room and walked to the dining room.
“As I said it wasn’t my intention to kill him.” Layton accompanied her and took his dinner.
“But you did anyway even when I told you not to.” Layton tried to apologize but his wife wouldn’t listen and it worried him.
“I did it for your protection Gem why won’t you just listen?” She quickly ate her dinner.
“If that’s what you think then it’s alright, I mean would it kill you to care for once!” Her blood boiled, Jacob was her closest friend and he understood her more than anyone else.
“I know you are angry and I do apologize for what I did but I need you to understand why I did it.”
“It would have been way better if you just accepted. You should have arrested him or something.” Tears rolled down the girl’s cheek.
“I wouldn’t, handing him over would be much worse.” He still wasn’t safe after the investigation and handing Jacob would be a mess.
“I don’t even see why you’re wasting your tears, he wasn’t any good for you and you know that too.”
“But he was still a close friend of mine, either though I don’t expect much from you.” Anger filled the room and there was strong friction between the two.
“Is this all cause of one guy? If you were in love with him then you should have told me!” Gemini laughed out loudly, she never thought Layton would be so stubborn.
“Please Layton I don’t want any argument right now, it’s late for any of it,” Gemini complained.
“You can leave if you want to, I wasn’t holding you down anyway.”
Gemini was not in the mood of having a conversation with the alpha so she took her belongings and left. She didn’t find it in her heart to forget about him. She had lost her mother and she never thought she would lose her closest friend.
On the same night, Gemini’s mother was visited by Francis and his partner. They made their way to the living too.
“May I help you officers?” Francis nodded and handed the woman a photo of her daughter.
“You do remember you came some time ago saying your daughter went missing.” She wasn’t however interested in hearing news about her daughter.
“Yes I do remember but it isn’t an issue anymore, she visited me some time ago.” Francis and his partner eyed each other.
“And when was that exactly?”
“Some days ago. Is everything okay?” The officer brought out more papers.
“Well, your daughter is actually under my suspect list.” She wasn’t surprised since her daughter was married to a killer.
“For what exactly?” Francis stood up and looked around only to spot a family photo.
“Murder, of course, a girl was found dead by the woods. She was shredded and brutally killed and your daughter with her so-called husband happened to be at the crime scene.” He walked to the photo and noticed the unfamiliar figure.
“Who’s the man?” The woman stared at the picture.
“My late husband, he got murdered.”
“That’s a shame. Do you mind if I have a quick check of things?” The woman insisted. The first room that caught his attention was Gemini’s. He got in and looked around, he wasn’t able to find anything valuable but it also wasn’t a surprise. There were all sorts of drawings and posters.
“Your daughter was a good drawer I have to admit.” Francis admired the drawings.
“She loved drawing a lot but once her father passed the interest went with him.” The officer finally gave up and moved back to the living room.
“Were you aware of your daughter’s marriage?”
“I was aware, what happened?” Francis got confused, if the woman already knew of their marriage why did she call the station.
“I see you are very confident with marriage but I would love to have more of your husband.” The woman paused.
“What do you need to know?”
“Who your husband is and how he was killed.” She sipped on a cup of tea then cleared her throat.
“He was mostly called Robert and he preferred it, he worked in one of the high tech companies.” Francis wrote down each and every word the woman spoke.
“How did he die?”
“We were robbed and he tried his vest to protect us but in the event, if doing so he got shot.” Francis was still not satisfied with the little information.
“Is there anything else I need to know?” The woman immediately denied it.
“Those are the only important things.” He stood up again but this time ready to take his leave.
“I will see you later.” The woman nodded and he left.
