Chapter 29

“I just told them to inform the police about the illegal land issue and it went great.” Layton regretted making her in charge that day.
“There is a reason why I told them not to act Gem. Jones isn’t someone you should take for granted, if he was to do something in secret then he would have without us or anyone tracking him.” Gemini was a little confused even though Jones wanted them to track him she just didn’t understand why.
“But why?” She finally asked.
“To gain access of course using the police and he wouldn’t have approached the police anyhow, he needed the police to go to him, and now he has all the permission he needs.” Gemini gulped, she did feel stupid and her careless actions caused the death of someone.
“I hope next time you will listen to me.” Gemini nodded. There was silence for a while.
“It’s weird you know all this I mean he must know of your intelligence but why do something so obvious for you.” The girl asked.
“Cause he knew someone dump enough would run into conclusions.” Strider bitterly said and Gemini felt hurt inside.
“Hey, it wasn’t her fault, and don’t you ever call her names!!” Layton sharply commanded but this time Strider’s wolf wasn’t going to obey.
“I apologize sir but she is the reason for all this now the pack is in a threat!” His voice rose a little.
“As I said it wasn’t her fault!! You know she’s new to all this. She didn’t even have a pack.” Strider frowned he didn’t know why Layton was defending her so much.
“No it was your fault, if only you had put me in charge I would have sorted things out but no you put her instead!” Layton felt the urge to charge.
“Don’t forget you were just as worse as her and your stupidity cost you,” Strider remembered his lover and how Layton had always blamed him for it.
“I wasn’t to blame for her death. She would have still been alive if she never met you.” Layton laughed and it irritated Strider.
“Even though Andrea was sour but she would have made a better leader, you’ve grown soft and I would love to see you fall.” Layton’s wolf was triggered and the next thing the alpha threw blows at the beta. Gemini being frightened ran to Layton and tried to stop him from killing Strider but it was nearly impossible.
“Layton please stop!!!” The girl yelled as tears rolled down her eyes with luck the police arrived and ended the deadly fight. An ambulance was called since Strider had been badly hurt. Gemini walked to Layton and watched him with deep disappointment.
“I can’t believe you Lay, why would you do that?” She asked.
“I couldn’t just stand there and watch him insult you.” Gemini admired him but Strider was right and therefore had the right to insult her. She already felt guilty and Layton made the guilt worse.
“But he was right, I didn’t think straight I just rushed into conclusion. You should have made him in charge.” Layton shook his head, the male had little bruises on his face.
“No one has the right to Gem remember that and he wasn’t right you weren’t dumped, you just wanted to help.” Gemini nodded.
“However Hunter and Strider did warn me but I just didn’t listen.” Layton sighed, he didn’t still understand this girl.
“Lay, Strider has always been by your side, it would be a shame if he became your enemy.” He did accept that Strider had always been by his side but it was mostly without a choice.
“We’re all enemies Gem, you should never trust anyone. It wasn’t a choice for him to be by my side.” Before anything else was said a number of policemen walked to them. The officer in charge of the group grinned at the two.
“Well your friend will be excused for the time being but as for you two you will accompany us but let me ask a little question.” Gemini nodded but Layton let out a silent growl.
“What were you doing at a restricted area? Don’t you know crossing over this area makes you major suspects? So please answer before I make this difficult.” The officer asked staring at the little scars on the alpha’s face and examining them.
“We were passing by and saw the woman so we went to investigate.” Layton straightly said avoiding suspicion. The officer nodded but was not convinced.
“So you and your friend decided to start a little fight? How odd for humans to react that way especially next to a dead body.” Layton wondered what the officer was aiming at and why he had used humans.
“You’re a fast healer, your cuts are merely visible I’ve been noticing them for a while.” Again the officer said. Layton panicked as he held his cheek. He knew he should have thought about it first.
“He’s taking some medication and it helps him heal quick.” Gemini defended feeling Layton’s reaction.
“And who are you?”
“My name is Gemini Burn and my wife.” The officer nodded.
“I would also like that kind of medication.” The officer turned. Gemini and Layton eyed each other.
“Take them in the van I want to have a little chat with them both.” He said to his partner. Just as he said both Gemini and Layton were taken to the station.
