Chapter 28

Book:Alpha's Desire Published:2024-5-1

“What about Gemini? Who will look after her?” Layton had already thought of it.
“I might get someone to look after her.” He nodded. Out of the blue Gemini walked in.
“I heard you’re going somewhere.” Layton didn’t want to accept but he had no choice.
“Yes, something came up.”
“Can I go too? I don’t want to sit all day.” Hoping Layton would accept but he saw her as a disadvantage.
“It’s too dangerous for you Gem and we need you here.” Gemini crossed her arms angrily.
“Why do you always treat me like this! It’s not fair you know! Am I supposed to be an alpha if you treat me like this!!” Gemini yelled with complete anger making Strider shake. He still didn’t understand this girl and how her energy and strength rose.
“I said no and you should listen,” Layton demanded her respect.
“I am not a child Layton and I don’t like it when people treat me like that!! So as I said I am going.”
“Fine!! If anything goes wrong I won’t be there to protect you alright!!” He yelled too and Gemini immediately nodded which annoyed him. Gemini got dressed in her most comfortable clothes and drove off with Strider and Layton. They left their territory and into the wide-open world. Gemini sat alone at the back seat while Strider and Layton sat in front which was unusual but Gemini didn’t care if her husband was mad at her.
“Where is the body,” Layton asked Strider as he unwrapped a sheet of paper.
“Downtown, the good thing is that it isn’t in public.” Layton nodded.
“Make sure you park the car a far distance from there, the police would be there and I don’t want them searching my car.” Strider obeyed.
A short time that felt like hours passed and they finally reached the crime scene, the car just as Layton had asked was parked at a distance and the rest was done on foot.
“Call Hunter and tell him to send someone for my car. The police won’t be so friendly.
Layton turned to Gemini before they went any further they stopped.
“Looks like the police aren’t at the crime scene but it doesn’t mean they aren’t here. Go check how close they are.” Strider ran off.
“Don’t go anywhere far just stay close to me.” She nodded. They later reached the scene. Gemini’s eye’s widened once she saw the horror, the deceased woman was badly torn to pieces with marks all over her face and the blood was scattered everywhere. She looked away feeling sick and deep pity. She wondered how people could be so cruel and senseless. She held Layton’s arm tightly.
“I told you not to come but you wouldn’t listen,” Layton whispered in the terrified girl’s ear. Strider rushed towards us.
“We shouldn’t be here, this place is strictly restricted by the police and if we’re caught it won’t be pretty.” Layton was not surprised since there were no people around but it was also an opportunity for them.
“Are they close?” Strider thought.
“Not sure but it looks like their
not far. I however failed to locate them but they also wouldn’t leave a dead body on the open.” Layton nodded then again turned to Gemini.
“If you not comfortable you could wait in the car but make sure you lock the doors.” Gemini refused she knew she had to get used to it. Layton walked past the police tape and closer to the body. He examined the body and marks.
“Not sure if she is a wolf and If she is I don’t know if she is one of us.” Layton stood up then examined the surrounding. Strider also walked past the tape to get a better look.
“I’ve never seen her before though but it is hard to tell what she is.” Layton dipped his finger in the bloody road and later tapped it on the tip of his tongue. Gemini shivered at his actions.
“One of us.” Strider sighed.
“Shouldn’t we dispose of the body? What if the police identify her.” Strider yelled out feeling a little panic.
“Not necessary, if we do then they will suspect and even if they test her body they’ll find nothing. Their electronics aren’t that advanced.” Layton paused for a while trying to sum this all up.
“The police shouldn’t be our main worry but the person behind this.” His worry went mostly to Gemini, who knew bringing her there would be the greatest risk again he examined the area.
“Shouldn’t have brought her here. They might be watching.” He said to himself. He knew somehow some unwanted rivals were able to access his territory. Then it hit him.
“Strider I thought I told you not to get involved on the land issue!!” A sudden amount of anger burst in him. Strider gave his leader a confused look.
“Sir I didn’t get involved. I told Hunter not to too and he respected your order.” Layton’s anger rose even more.
“Then who gave the command if you didn’t!!” Strider shrugged.
“I don’t know…..” He paused remembering the last days then turned his gaze to Gemini and Layton did the same. Gemini did remember giving the order to act.
“Gem what did you do!!” Layton speed-walked to her.
