“I’ll explain myself. Do exactly what I say, all right?” Roselin grinned, “There will be a prize,” and then left.
SECOND MEETING
Ella couldn’t conceal her boredom any longer; it had been many hours. That’s because it was just the males who had been chatting up a storm up until that point. She started to wonder what their purpose was there. Why bother just to sit with the guys?
A few females had already came in and poured themselves some drinks. She listened to them talk nevertheless, and found it entertaining to see the two packs argue and almost attack each other until Spenser stepped in. It took a lot of back-and-forth, but he was able to reconcile the two Alphas and settle the dispute.
There were further conversations when King William did the most of the talking on the Vampire society.
He was tall and dapper, yet his eyes could play tricks on you.
As there was much business to attend to, the guys worked together for quite some time. And Ella felt a great sense of relief when the meeting was over. The party had worn her out, and she couldn’t wait to go home and relax. “Thank you everybody for coming,” Spenser remarked as he stood up.
“It is our sincere desire, King Spenser,” Alpha Romeo grinned.
“Take care on your journey, King Spenser. ”
Spenser gave a single nod and proceeded to go. As Ella started to turn, she saw one of the ladies nod and smile at her.
Spenser was her target, so she averted her eyes.
Following closely after was Jeremy and the rest of the guards, and they all made their way to the carriage.
The moment they got inside the carriage, Ella let out a tremendous sigh, which Spenser noted. He looked at her for a second before he walked away. And Ella’s face flushed, because she dared not hope that the King had observed her.
Prince Jeremy approached the window and stood on Spenser’s side of it.
‘We’re ready to go, My King,’ he reported. Spenser snapped, “Let’s get out of here,” and the carriage rolled away from the curb.
As they drove into the forest, Ella focused only on what was happening on her side of the window. Obviously, she had no idea where else to search. Only Spenser rode in the carriage with her, and she couldn’t bear to look at him.
“Ella, where did you say you were born?”
She was startled by the familiarity of the icy voice.
Her brows furrowed in disbelief at the words the King had just spoken to her.
Wow, King Spenser was really talking to her!
She gave a start and turned to look at him. Goodness! To put it simply, he probed her with a query!
She took a deep breath and averted her gaze.
“Um….. Both of my dad and I are natives of this pack, My King. She spoke timidly, her heart beating like party drums, “The spot you found me is where I was brought up.”
The King of Spenser began pondering something. That woman…. Who was this mysterious woman?
Something about her was off, and he just couldn’t put his finger on it. A loud groan came from outside, and then came the shrieking of horses and the screeching of his carriage.
The carriage’s noisy shrieking caused Ella to tremble back and forth. What’s going on here?
The King of Spenser glanced about, perplexed. Roaring and shouting filled the air at that very moment.
“We’re being attacked!!”
That was Jeremy’s voice.
“To defend the King! ”
A third voice chimed in.
What?
King Spenser, curious about the situation, peered around too.
He could hear roars and grunts and sensed that whatever was assaulting had already become their wolf shape.
Actually, he was not allowed to just wait inside.
It wasn’t like him to hide while his troops were under fire.
“Stay here,” he mumbled to Ella as he opened the carriage’s curtain door and leapt to the scene. Everything occurred so quickly that he hardly had time to process it.
They had already lost one of his guards and were still struggling for survival against rogues as Viscar and the others looked on helplessly.
They were too numerous, and it occurred to Spenser that they might not be able to defeat them, not in these forms.
Jeremy looked around and saw that some of his guards were also attempting to shift, but the rogues attacking them would barely give them a chance.
It’s too disruptive, and he could have a hard time reverting to human shape afterwards. Two thugs rushed him, injuring one of his guards in the process. At that moment, Spenser had no choice but to transform into his wolf form, so with a mighty roar and a stretch, he shed his human skin.
The criminals who were racing towards him stopped in their tracks out of fear at his enormous reach. His formerly ice-cool good looks were transformed into the features of a wild animal as furs covered his body and fangs sprang from his teeth and claws extended from his fingertips.
Rogues didn’t expect Spenser to change since they knew his wolf form was impossible to control. One of his own people may be killed by this.
The two closest to him backed away while others surged at him, but he roared like a beast and relished the battle, breaking the bones of several of those who approached him.
Ella remained in the carriage as her anxiety increased. She hasn’t been in a fight where anybody was hurt. What did she anticipate to happen when she started hanging out with the King?
She heard bones breaking and screams of agony.
But King Spenser was doing an excellent job of unleashing his beast onto the soldiers. When the thugs continued coming at him, he didn’t stop breaking their bones, strangling them, and flinging them about. He wanted more, especially more blood.
He continued to kill as many as he could, even after having his back repeatedly scraped by claws. That was of no concern to him just then. One of the hoodlums even made a beeline for the conveyance itself.
