Karen walked into one of the most popular fast food restaurant dressed in a blue jumpsuit and white Jordan kicks. Her hair was combed perfectly and left to fall on her shoulders from under the head warmer she wore. It has been a week since she suddenly became a celebrity and so far, celebrity life has been stressful for her. From the tons of messages and tags she received on social media daily to the few times she had been cornered by a mob of fans at the mall where she had gone to get something.
She had walked in when she noticed the stares and whispering that rose from the people at the mall. She had first thought she was dressed inappropriately but after some group of girls walked up to ask her if she was Karen, she realized that the people were staring because of the rumors. Word on the street was that she was a model and with her perfect figure and great fashion sense, it was hard to dispute that.
Due to the fact that she was thought to be a model, different agencies had contacted her for bookings. She had a very busy schedule. Her shoots was meant to start the next day and she had different shoots spanning the next eight days at different locations. The company hadn’t gotten back to her and she was happy about it, she had another career line to focus on now. They could keep their job!
Her eyes spanned the entire restaurant as she walked inside and a smile crept to her face as she spotted Jack seated at a table at one end of the room. it’s ben over two weeks since they last spoke to each other and today, she was bumping into him again. How miraculous!
She quickly walked over to his table and with a bright smile plastered on her face, she greeted an “Hello”
He looked up from the magazine he was looking at and his eyes widened when he saw her smiling brightly at her. He groaned internally as he managed a small smile at her. He had been trying to avoid her,
“Hey… y” he stuttered and she smiled widely at him despite his obvious inconvenience
“Can I sit?” she asked, already pulling out a chair.
“Well, you are already sated and it would be rude to tell you to get up.” He replied after she had already slide into a chair.
Soon there was loud muttering among the people in the restaurant, followed by camera clicks, making Jack groan. He had decided to grab a quick lunch at the restaurant. The business magazine he was interviewed for was officially released so he decided to grab a copy to keep himself busy. The stares he got when he walked into the restaurant had made him really uncomfortable but he avoided all the different pair of eyes that followed his every movement. There were side talks about his relationship with Karen, but he ignored them and made his way to the end of the restaurant where he was away from too many people.
It was a five star expensive restaurant with great security and he was grateful for that. He wouldn’t be able to cope with a psycho fan rushing up on him.
He had just finished his meal and buried his face in the magazine when he heard the familiar voice belonging to the one person he had been avoiding.
“Hi” she had greeted and he raised his head to stare at her. She was dressed in a jumpsuit that hugged her body. Her skin looked brighter and her beautiful face was covered in a bright smile. He stuttered slightly in response and she took the empty seat on the table.
“It’s funny how everyone thinks we are dating when we have only met twice.” She muttered lowly, a deep shade of pink on her cheeks as she avoided his gaze. He looked round the restaurant and this time, the mutterings were loud and precise. Many phones were raised at them, trying to get a picture of them. He sighed loudly as his gaze returned to her. She was smiling shyly, her smile bright and contagious.
“You know we are not dating right? Whatever we had ended that night.” He stated plainly, no tint of emotion in his voice and she frowned.
“What do we tell them?” she asked.
“The truth?” he replied
“I don’t think so.” She started. “I think we should date.” She said and he stared at her in shock.
“I mean fake date.” She quickly added when she saw the ghost look on his face. He stared at her until she became uncomfortable under his burning stare but she couldn’t peel her face away.
“Why would I want to do that?” he questioned in confusion, raising an eyebrow, his heartbeat accelerating slightly.
“I dunno.” She replied honestly. “This buzz has been good for me, sorry to say.” She added.
“Yeah. It’s always an honor to be Jack’s girlfriend, even if it is fake.” He responded cockily, the edge of his lips rising slightly in a smile making her blush.
“So…, dinner at my place?” she asked and he shot his eyebrow at her. “Here’s my number, call me any day you are up for that.” She added, sliding a small card to him, making his confusion deepen. He stared at the small, beautifully designed in his hand and then stared at her before nodding softly.
“Why are you so eager?” he questioned lowly and she shrugged, walking away.

“You totally killed that shoot.” Ciara said, smiling widely as she opened the door to Karen’s house. They had just gotten back from a shot Karen had at a modeling studio in san Francisco. She had been really nervous about it, coupled with the fact that she had to take a flight so Ciara decided to go with her for moral support. Karen wasn’t a fan of air trips, it made her really scared.
“I know right? I mean I was fucking scared. You know I wasn’t really a model before all these.” She replied.
“Come on” Ciara cooed. “I told you, you were born a model, but you decided to hide in the office being a journalist. Thank God you were kicked out.”she joked
“I can’t believe in less than a month, I’ve turned from being jobless to being one of the most popular person in Los Angeles.” She stated dreamily and Ciara smirked. She still couldn’t believe how her life turned out.
“Thanks to your prince Charming.” Ciara added and she blushed. “He isn’t my prince charming.
“If you say so.” She raised her hands in mock surrender and they both laughed.

He stared at the little card Karen had given him at their unplanned lunch. The urge to dial her number which was boldly written on the card slowly overshadowed his personal resolve. He had promised himself to totally avoid her after that dinner they had, but now, he found himself being drawn closer and closer to her. He had looked her up in the midst of all the social frenzy that was going on around her and was quite surprised she was doing really well for herself. He was more surprised when he saw her on modeling posters. She didn’t tell him she was a model and he didn’t check.
His personal defiance soon broke off and he dialed her number, letting it ring against his ears.
“Hello.” Her gentle and calm voice sounded from the other end of the call, making his heart flutter. Her voice sounded so calm and melodious. They stayed in silence for some minutes, him listening to her calm and controlled breathing. “Who is this.” She asked.
“Who did you ask out on a dinner?” he replied cockily and heat rose to her cheeks. It’s been days, turning to a week since she had given him the card. After waiting for days, she thought he had forgotten and had given up but here he was, calling her out of the blue.
“I’ve given my cards to like seven men this week so I don’t know which of them this is.” She decided to tease. She badly wanted to see the expression on his face but too bad that was not possible. He growled from the other end of the call, making her giggle.
“Don’t joke with me, Karen Smith.” He threatened a hint of humor in his tone. A smile tugged slightly at the ends of his lips.
“So, what do I owe this phone call from the most eligible bachelor in LA?” a goofy grin played on her face as she waited for his response.
“Dinner by 8 tomorrow.” He replied. “You’re hosting.”
After getting off the call with Karen, a big smile maintained its place on his ace. He had been smiling more frequently recently and it felt good. Maybe he was breaking his resolve, but maybe it was for a better good.
The day rolled away quickly and soon it was forty-five minutes past seven pm the next day. She had taken time to prepare some dishes that were now lined up beautifully on the dining table. Every minute, she would look at the door and then the clock, expecting him to knock at the door in any minute. After she had ended the call with him the previous day, she screamed in delight, smiling widely like a four year old that had been given her favorite candy. She had almost given up on the dinner but as usual, he didn’t fail to turn up. He always did.
