Jack sat comfortably in the backseat of the uber as the driver drove through the streets of New York. He had arrived from Los Angeles by flight a few minutes ago and ordered an uber. He was going on a working visit to his hotel. It has been over three months since he had last visited.
The uber parked inside the hotel and he stepped out. He walked inside through the big glass door and bumped into someone.
“I’ m so sorry.” He apologized but the man walked away, not sparing him a glance. He was dressed in a grey hoodie with big boots. His head was bent low as he walked out of the door.
“Strange” Jack muttered as he watched the stranger he bumped into walk out of the door. He walked to the front desk and was immediately recognized by the staff there.
“Good morning sir.” She greeted politely and he responded. She put a call through to the manager informing him about Jack’s presence and a few minutes later, the manager rushed out. The manager was an advanced man. He looked to be around his fifties. He was dressed in an ash-colored suit. He greeted Jack and he responded politely before they walked off to his office.
Outside the hotel, Damian quickened his pace as he walked towards his Chevrolet car that was walked outside the hotel. He had spent the previous night and that morning at the hotel. After he led a dangerous operation the previous night, he decided to crash off at the most expensive hotel in the city. His head was bent low as he walked towards the door before he bumped into Jack that coming in. He stared at Jack shortly as he apologized. He looked familiar like he was someone popular. He passed by quietly as he apologized and walked out of the door.
He ignited his car engine and drove off.
Jack sat in his office as the manager sat in the car across him. They were seated in his office. They both held a glass of wine in their left hand as they went through the documents in front of them. He was proposing an expansion of the hotel that would cost over one hundred and fifty million dollars. They intended to add more executive suites and rooms to the hotel.
“We can add more structures on the left wing of the hotel.” The manager stated, looking at the building layout displayed on his laptop screen.
“I’m hoping to add the new building as the executive suite, strictly executive suites.” He responded and his manger nodded in agreement.
“I’ll send in engineers and surveyors next week so we can kick off.” He added and shut his laptop.
After his dinner with Karen that evening, he had avoided making contact with her again. He had gone online to see that she posted the picture they took together and it was already causing a buzz on the internet. He just had to avoid her if he wanted to end everything had started.
Karen took the next bus back to Los Angeles. It was a two hours journey and she was back home late in the afternoon. She unlocked the front door of her house and entered inside. She made her way past the quiet sitting and entered her bedroom. She dumped her duffel bag on the bed and stripped naked. She got under the shower and took a quick bath. She spent some time washing her hair before stepping out.
She booted her laptop and opened her E-mail. There was no new mali from prospective employers. She knew from the look on the faces of the panel that they were barely impressed with her and her chances of getting the job was as low as zero. She buried her face in her pillow and screamed lightly in frustration. She had a good degree but was still unemployed. She picked up her phone and called her best friend.
“Hello, Ciara.” She said grumpily into the phone and her friend detected her bad mood.
“What is the problem, Karen?” Ciara asked in concern.
“I don’t think I would get the job.” She replied and her friend sighed. She had done a lot of work trying to convince her to apply in the first place and now she was already giving up.
“Don’t say that.” She cautioned. “I know you did just great, wait for their feedback.” She encouraged, making Karen sigh. She was a very realistic person and it has helped her avoid getting heart broken by some news. She ended the call after listening to some words of advice from her friend. The words were encouraging but that wasn’t what she needed at the moment. Her mind went back to jack and the dinner date they had some days back. He acted like the perfect gentleman that night but decided to snub her since then. He stopped replying her texts and it got her very frustrated. Meanwhile, her photo with Jack had caught the attention of many people. She was the first lady that had taken a photo with him in over eleven months and the fact that he was smiling in the photo made people raise eyebrows.
Her followers had surged to over a million and she was actually the trending figure online.
She grinned widely as she logged in to her account and saw over a thousand messages and notifications. She scrolled through them and realized that people had dug out her old posts where she had attempted modeling and it was currently trending. Three agencies had so far contacted her for shoots. She quickly replied them and her shoots was scheduled. She smiled widely as she logged out. Her dream was finally coming true.
….
Jack finally returned home two days later. He had spent the last two days in New York signing out contracts for the expansion of his hotel project. It was a big project that upon completion would make his hotel the biggest in New York. He drove home from the airport where his private jet had landed. The ride home was quick. He spent the whole ride thinking about Karen. Though he had avoided social media since the dinner, his mother had called him the next day after the photo had gone viral.
“Who is the beautiful lady who went out with?” his mother had inquired excitedly immediately he picked he call. He groaned lightly as a small smile made its way to his face.
“She’s just someone I just met once.” He replied, stressing the “once”
“Isn’t that good news?” she teased. “You are finally going out with someone.” He had scoffed after his mother had dropped the call. If only she knew.
That was one of the numerous calls he had received from his family and partners. Harry had immediately called him after he saw the photo.
“Jack!” he exclaimed immediately the call got through. He was going through some entertainment blogs when he saw the image of jack and a strange lady. They were smiling in the photo and she looked so hot. He smirked when he saw the headline. The media had speculated that they were secretly dating and he couldn’t blame them. Seeing jack smiling widely with a lady in public was definitely new.
“Is your new girlfriend a model? Why didn’t you tell me?” he bombarded Jack with questions while he remained silent.
“She isn’t my girlfriend, and two, she isn’t a model.” He replied calmly, making harry raise an eyebrow.
“First time you went on a date with a girl after many decades. She deserves an award.” Harry replied dramatically. Of course, he knew they weren’t dating, but he really hoped that his friend would settle down.
He browsed through the web and frowned when he saw their photos on almost every blog. That was one reason he hated the media and paparazzi, they always blow things out of proportion, and they were currently doing that now.
Jenna rolled her eyes in anger after coming across Jack’s and Karen’s picture on the internet for the hundredth time that day. Even after days of uploading the photo, it was still trending and it pissed her off so much. She had gone through Karen’s instagram account and was surprised when she found out she wasn’t a model. She had expected her to be one of the top models in the country with her sexy and appealing figure and her fashion sense.
“She is quite the trend now.” She muttered to herself as she scrolled through Karen’s timeline.
She realized she was a fashion blogger. She was two weeks away from her fashion show and still had no popular figure to headline it. It was becoming tiring for me as most of the people she met turned down the invite.
A plan quickly formulated in het brain as she quickly sent Karen an Email with an invitation to headline the show. She realized that if she was to sell out her show, then she had to move with the trend, and Karen was the current trend.
