The doorbell dinged and she panicked slightly. She smoothened her long black dress and rearranged her hair one more time before she walked up to the door. She pulled the door open and stood nervously in front on Jack who was leaning slightly on the door frame. He was dressed in dark jeans pants and a blue shirt that was tucked in with the first two buttons of the shirt left undone, exposing a bit of his tattooed chest. His hands were in his pockets as he stood lazily against the frame, staring at her. He cleared his throat slightly and she caught herself, looking down in embarrassment.
It had taken him about an hour to finally prepare for the dinner. He wasn’t someone that was ever nervous, but today had kept him completely wrecked. After getting home from work, he took a quick shower before walking into the closet in search of what to wear. He had previously tried on over four jeans and seven shirts before finally settling for the dark jeans and blue shirt he wore.
All the clothes he tried on were either not matching or did not make him look handsome enough. He racked his hand through his hair in frustration before settling on the clothes that hanged hidden in the midst of other clothes. He gelled his hair perfectly and curled it to the side, giving him that hot model look. His diamond wrist watch complimented his dressing and with more than fifteen minutes left on the clock, he grabbed his car keys from the table and walked out. he was never late for anything.
“Uhmm, hi” she stuttered nervously, still standing in front of the door.
“Is the dinner gonna be held outside or are you gonna let me in?” he said after she had held onto the door longer than usual.
“I’m so sorry. Come in.” she apologized, shifting away from the door, making way for him to enter.
He stepped into the house and stared around before nodding to himself. She had a good taste in interior designs which was unsurprising due to the fact that she was a model. The last time he had been here was the night they had met. They had been so engrossed in their romance, he had no time to look around so this was the first time he took notice of the beautiful painting that hung on the left side of the sitting room, the book shelf and the drink bar.
“A beautiful place you have here.” he commended, returning his gaze to her and relief washed over her face. She had followed his gaze and he looked round the house and nervously anticipated his remark.
“Thanks… this way please.” She stuttered for the second time, leading the way to the dining area.
He stared at her as she walked towards the table. Her ass wiggled in the tight materialof the gown and he shut his eyes tight, fighting the sudden urge that aroused in him.
He sat comfortably on one of the dining chairs, staring at her as she served him. His eyes trailed every movement she mad, from the shifting of her arm while dishing the food to the movement of her body from one side of the table to the other. His eyes moved to her body and were hooked as he stared hungrily at her round breasts that threatened to spill out of her cloth through the deep V line as she bent slightly over the table, dishing out his meal.
“I’m so glad you finally came after over a decade.” She stated, a lot of sarcasm in her tone as she took her seat directly across him. He laughed light heartedly at her remark.
“I’m a busy man.” he stated. His reply short and concise.
They soon dug into their food. She had prepared different meals including mashed potatoes, chicken and steamed vegetables, rice and pasta.
“I don’t know of your favorite food so I decided to make a variety. I’m sure it would be one of these.” She explained, pointing at the mini feast she had put up.
“I don’t have a favorite meal.” He replied, leaving her surprised.
“Strange for a man of your standards.” She commented lowly but enough for him to hear.
“What do you know about my standards?” he asked with a mischevious smile on his face. “They are pretty high. I don’t think you are up to them” he added and she froze in her seat. He smirked triumphantly at the change in her expression. He could clearly see how uncomfortable she was and that made him smile even more.
“I guess we would have to find out about that. Wouldn’t we?” she bounced back from the shock his question had put her to. She held a dark smile as she stared back and this time it was jack’s turn to look away.
They finished eating, though jack had barely eaten half of the food from his plate before pushing them aside. That was the most food he had eaten since the family dinner he had with his parents weeks back.
She cleared the table and returned with plates containing red velvet cake, brownies and apple pie. She walked over to the drink cabinet and pulled out a bottle of white wine and placed them on the table.
“Dessert.” She said, pushing the big plate containing the desserts to him.
“Inasmuch as I’ll like to eat these, but I’m okay.” He rejected politely.
“I made them for you, take a bite” she pleaded with puppy eyes and he shrugged, giving in. He picked up one velvet and stared at it.
“Let this be as good as it looks.” He muttered before taking a bite. His face broke into a smile as he took another bite, totally enjoying it.
“You seem to under estimate me a lot. I might just be above your standards.” She stated, seeing the pleased look on his face. She didn’t know the boldness to say that came from, but she was pleased with herself for saying it.
Jack surprisingly ate a lot of desserts before he took a swing at the wine. He had gotten so full, but the delicious taste of the different desserts kept calling onto him. They moved to the sitting room before he checked his time and made to go.
“I sure had a nice time here we would see some other time.” He stated and she smiled slightly, mad at the fact that he was already leaving. She nodded at his speech regardless.
“Friends?” she asked, pushing her hand out for a handshake.
“I don’t make friends easily. More like Close acquaintance.” He took her hand in a handshake, shaking it firmly.

The sun rose gently from the east across the city, small clouds disappearing behind the brightness of the sun to give way to a new morning. The birds chirped noisefully as human and vehicular movements increased, making the streets more busy.
Karen laid on the bed, still asleep as a streak of sunlight sipped through the slightly opened window and fell on her face. She turned in discomfort, blocking the light with a pillow. Yesterday had been a very hectic day for her, probably the biggest day of her life so far. It was actually funny how her life had taken a new and beautiful turn in just few weeks. Two months ago, she was an unemployed lady trying to go through life but today, she was the most sought after person in the Los Angeles entertainment industry.
She rubbed her eyes gently as she yawned and got up from the bed. Her head ached a little as she tried to adjust her eyes to the light in the room. Yesterday, she had headlined TY fashion week, her biggest fashion show so far and so far, the media was going crazy for her. She had been able to sell out the show and the organizer, Jenna Tyrone was really pleased. Amidst the whole and situations and paparazzi, she was able to escape into the private car provided for her, getting home late. So far, she had worked with many agencies, her blog was currently the biggest fashion blog in calfornia and she had deals spanning the next couple of years. She was already a millionaire. Life had really came on her fast, but in a good way.
After that dinner with Jack that day things got better between both of them. He would stop by at her house some days or they go out for them. She had once attended a business gala with him, but he never asked her to date him. After the dinner, she realized she had fallen in love with him and no matter how she tried to deny it to herself, it was the truth. A truth she didn’t want to admit.
She picked up her phone and got out of the bed.

He parked his car by the side of the road and stepped out with a bouquet of flowers in his hands. He worked nervously to her front door and was about knocking when he heard her voice talking lowly to herself.
“I didn’t mean to fall in love with you, jack.” She said to herself and he paused behind the door to listen. His heart beat loudly in his chest as he stood outside, against the door listening to her battle with herself.
“It was meant to just be a little publicity show to help me and now, I’ve fallen in love with him and I can’t even tell him the truth. I’m fucked up.” He listened as she spoke, pacing round her sitting room. A pang of pain hit his heart as he stood transfixed to the spot. He squeezed the flowers tightly before dumping it by her doorstep and zooming off.
