SABRINA
I clutched on to Aklyn tight as we soared in the air. My eyes were sealed closed and my heart beat raced for its summit.
We’ve been on the air for such a long time. I was beginning to feel sick.
I didn’t even want to look down. I might just let out a shriek and fall to my death. It would be such a bummer reaching out this far and having to meet my end by falling from Aklyn’s hands.
I flooded my mind with the sound of the demon kings huge wings as they flapped against the winds. I loved their wings, so big and just by the sight of it, I already deciphered that these men carried a lot of power in them.
And I was the missing energy they needed to destroy Cory. But I honestly wondered why they needed my energy because from the memories I’ve had and everything I’ve seen so far–the demon kings are so powerful. Their power radiates of them especially when they are angry.
So why couldn’t they just combine their powers and end Cory? They were two, he was one. Definitely it should not be so hard and difficult to end him with both their powers combined.
Or was it some thing they weren’t telling me?
I wasn’t given time to wander my mind around that question as Aklyn’s voice snapped me out of my reverie.
“We are here Queen” his rich velvety tone announced to me.
They immedately descended, their wings creating a vociferous sound as it came in contact with the ground.
Aklyn carefully put me down but still as clumsy as I was, I almost stumbled out of his hands.
I sighed a breath of relief as I gained my feet back on the soil, though a bit rickety as a result of the long flight.
My eyes surveyed the area I was. This was clearly not the central region of Ashrea anymore. This seemed like an oasis but it wasn’t because there was no desert around here. The grassy landscape took the image of the aftermath of a land which had survive a wild fire–hard and barren.
Still everything looked deserted and eerie. The huge, thick trees were black, stark black and the spring of water that streamed slowly at the centre of this strange place glinted red beams.
That could be mistaken for a river of blood. I shuddered in my skin. These trees were clearly here for more than a century and they weren’t normal trees.
I noticed something on the place I stood. A large strange triangular shape within a huge circle was carved into the black land.
It seemed like some kind of fight had happened here a very long time ago. Not just any kind. A fight between powerful and dangerous beings.
One that was capable of destroying anything within its reach.
“What happened? Why is everything black?” I turned to ask the demon kings when I noticed they weren’t there anymore.
Oh Great.
They left? Or was I about to be transported into another realistic memory again?
My eyes glazed down at the huge symbol on the ground that convered an enormous part of the land.
I slowly crouched down, bringing my hands to touch the symbol.
Like lightening it struck me. I felt a dark energy pass through me and my head spinned like a dumbbell.
A wind from no where began blowing the trees violently and I bolted up at once.
“What’s going on?” I asked no one in particular as tears began distorting my vision.
“Aklyn, Nelyx, you too should come take me out of here please!” I screamed, facing the now grey skies in hopes of seeing them soaring through the winds.
“How dare you Eridius!” I heard a distinct tone that got me spurning back in such a quick motion.
Eridius hit the ground and her skin seemed bruised.
The demon kings hovered over her as she struggled to move away from them.
I doubted any of them could see me.
Just like my first memory, I was watching it all unfold.
Eridius got her feet and stood up, her wings sprouting out.
“How could you do that to Mina?!” Aklyn roared, his eyes became an angry red fiery comet ball.
Eridius let out a cackle. She didn’t seem like she was going to back down.
“She deserved it. Every bit of it. I wish I was the one who killed her myself. I would have so enjoyed seeing life leave her body”
Nelyx swooped in from no where and took Eridius by the neck in the air, his nails becoming so clawed and cutting into Eriduis’ skin.
“I’ll make sure I kill you in such a way that the reapers won’t even accept your soul!”
The moment he uttered that statement, I watch in stark amazement and also to my own horror as part of Nelyx skin began pulling off revealing streams of fire in his flesh. His huge wings that I felt were already scary grew two enormous horns by each side and a six foot tall horn broke out of his temples.
Nelyx was transforming to what appeared like the devil himself. I had never seen him this angry.
The ground where they hovered over melted into a lake of fire, leaving me horror struck.
What did Eridius do to Mina that got the demon kings so infuriated like this?
“Even if you kill me now, I would die a fulfilled demon knowing that you both will never have Mina by your side!” Eridius coughed out, blood running from her nostrils.
“Eridius!” Aklyn yelled. He was still in his human form compared to Nelyx that had totally morphed into a devil.
“We won’t kill you. Giving you death will be an insignificant punishment for your betrayal” Nelyx growled before throwing Eridius to the ground that hadn’t melted into fire.
Aklyn flew towards Nelyx, their wings creating a heavy gust of wind as it collided with each other.
“So what do you want to do to me?” Eridius taunted, staggering on her feet.
“Your dark soul will be forever sent into the abyss…” Aklyn breathed.
I noticed the change in her facial expression the moment the demon kings passed out their verdict.
Her face morphed into shock and rage with her eyes squinting slightly.
“You can’t do that!” She yelled
“We can!” Nelyx roared, a fervent burning blaze of indignation burning in his eyes.
I couldn’t stand seeing him in his true demon form. I moved my face away from him to stare at a now trepadised Eridius.
“Every single day for the rest of your miserable life, your soul will be tortured, repeatedly burnt and left to rot away in the abyss. You will feel in a million folds what Mina felt” Aklyn said maniacally.
Eridius shook her head vehemtly. “I rather destroy my soul and know I have no chance of ever coming back into this world than let you two cast my soul into that abyss”
Would she really destroy her own soul?
As if in an answer to my question, Eridius spread out her hands and wings, levitating in the air.
From her bleeding lips, came a language so vague and cryptic.
Her lips moved in such a strange manner, casting strange words that I had never heard off.
Instantly, her body began burning slowly, bits of her flesh peeling off.
I was horror struck.
The demon kings were unfazed by what she was doing to herself.
“Eternal. Mighty. Dark beings. Spirits in hell. Consume me. Lucifer destroy my soul and give it not to the reapers” Eridius began chanting repeatedly as the flames in her body gradually erupted into a blazing inferno that consumed her.
I felt my insides churn in total disgust and horror on what I just witnessed.
The wind became more ferocious than ever and I lost my balance, landing on the ground.
It felt like the earth was shaking and I was minutes away from being crushed as a result.
“We meet once again Mina” The word was spoken low but yet it held an ominous tone in it.
Like a trance, everything vanished and I saw myself alone once again.
Or was I?
I spurned back in a sharp pivot and met with that horrifying face that had swore to never let me have a life.
Cory.
My heart sank and my breathing caged itself in my throat.
I gasped and staggered backwards. Panic griped me, shattering my entire being and fear consumed me whole.
This can’t be real.
No. It must be another memory and I must be in Mina’s body.
But it seemed so real. I had control of my thoughts unlike my memories.
Horror created an abode within me watching Cory advance towards me.
“This can’t be real. You can’t be real. I must be in another memory. Mina’s memory” I said with heavy panting trying to convince myself.
“This is fully real. We meet once again” he gave me an uncanny sadistic smile, showing off his sharp canines. He was rugged looking just like in my first memory. His bloody red hair was dishevelled.
I hastily tried running backwards but my toe hit against a stone causing me to fall.
“Ouch. Fuck” I winced in pain, clutching on to my foot.
Cory had a baleful but yet mischievous glint in his eyes.
“It seems this is the only life time you’ve lived this long apart from your first. But don’t worry. I’ll give you a swift death”
Did i come all the way here to die again?!
Tears spilled out of my eyes without restraint and my body convulsed.
“Aklyn, Nelyx, where are you both?!” I cried harder which caused Cory to laugh maniacally.
“Nobody can ever save you from me. Not even your demon mates. I’ll kill you and keep on killing you till your life force burns out and your soul never comes back into this world!” Cory threatened.
“Why are you doing this Cory?” I asked admist my tears.
“Because you deserve to die. After everything you did in your first life, did you think I’ll let your soul go scot free? I’ll hunt you down in each life you get reincarnated into and I’ll kill you just like I did before”
The tremor rose in my body and my chest heaved repeatedly. This was the end for me.
I closed my eyes shut expecting something sharp to kill me when I heard that farmilair voice that got me leaping for joy.
“Don’t you dare lay a hand on Sabrina” Nelyx gravelly warned.
I flew my orbs opened at once to meet the formidable profile of the demon kings standing behind Cory.
Cory stopped in jet tracks and gave a dark chuckle.
“You were lucky this time” he whispered loud enough for me to hear as he was just few inches away from slashing my throat.
Cory took to the air, his eyes fixed on my trembling form.
“You have just seven days to submit yourself to me Mina else I’ll kill your two human fellows. I’ll give them such a gruesome and painful death and slaughter you also when I’m done with them”
