SABRINA
My fingers moved subconsciously, feeling a warm skin next to my slender fingers.
Mina. Mina. Mina. Mina. That name was resonating in my ears, echoing itself in my mind.
With a gasp, my eyes flew open and immedately lurched up. My breathing was heavy and I panted, trying to catch my breath with a hand on my chest.
“My Queen” a soft voice called out causing me to whip my face to its direction. It was Asa. She sat next to me.
I gulped and nodded. She immedately passed me a cup of water which I sculled down trying to calm my erratic heartbeat.
“Are you alright?” She emphatically asked at me.
“I am”i nodded.
My restive orbs roved around my beguiling chamber before glancing back at Asa who held a warm smile for me on her face.
How did i end up here?
If i remembered clearly, I was with the demon kings in one of their dark and gloom-doomed chamber. Now I’m in my chamber.
But how?
“Asa?”
“Yes my queen” she replied for me to go on.
“Where are the demon kings?” I quizzically asked.
“They aren’t around. They went to handle some important duties. They will be back ok” she calmly said to me.
“How long was I unconcious?” I threw another question.
“Nine hours my queen” Asa replied gracefully.
I accessed her appearance with my curious orbs. Then it hit me.
In my memory I mentioned her name. I mean Mina–she said something about Asa being annoyed if she came home late.
That possibly means Mina and Asa knew each other.
“Asa”
“Yes my queen”
“Who are you?”
The sudden question hit her like a fiery comet. Asa had her brows puckered at me and she gave me a lopsided smile.
“I don’t understand you my queen” she adjusted herself on the bed.
“I mean” I sighed. “You knew Mina didn’t you?”
“I did” she slowly replied. Her eyes carried a million emotions, unspoken words and buried pain.
I placed a hand on her hands that were littered with strange markings and softly squeezed them. “Talk to me please”
“Mina was like a sister to me. We grew up together in that realm” she looked towards my open windows as if her thoughts were written on to the red clouds.
“You must have been devasted by her death” I said lowly.
“I was more than devasted. She didn’t deserve to die that way. It was such a gory and disturbing death. I could only imagine the pain she felt” Asa broke down into tears. Her tears were molten coloured, running down her copper skin.
My stomach churned and I felt like throwing up. My face gruadaully morphed into a contorted expression.
The memory I just had hit me once again. I could still see Mina’s horrified face in my mind as she tried to run away from Cory.
Her fears, panic, cries, desperation to get away from him and pain; I felt it all. She was literally me but in a different life.
Her cries reverberated in my ears again. I could hear it loud and clear, carrying pain it’s tune.
“Ahhhh stop!” I yelled, swiftly placing both my hands over my ears. Asa jerked at my sudden outburst.
“Stop please!!” I screamed more, shutting my eyes. Mina’s cries didn’t want to leave my head. It hit me on all sides, it filled my ears and I could hear nothing apart from her loud wailings.
“My Queen. Are you ok?” Asa asked with a sense of urgency in her tone.
I screamed, thrashed and wailed, ignoring her questions. This was torture. I wanted it to end.
An excruciating pained ran through my body as I screamed more.
“My Queen!” Asa yelled.
It felt like I wasn’t in control of my body anymore. I felt like my flesh was being ripped open and my blood gushing out without any resistance.
What sort of pain was this?
Was I relieving Mina’s death day? The pain she felt when she was dying?
I wasn’t given time to answer that question as I felt something like a knife pierce through me.
I yelled more. It frightened Asa. My mind was left in a labyrinth of pain and unanswered questions.
Suddenly a calming sensation crept into me, slowly taking control of my entire being. My yellings slowly reduced and my unsteady heart beat synchronised with my breathing which was now becoming normal.
I slowly fluttered my eyes opened. From the corners of my eye, I spotted Asa performing some sort of spell or should I say ritual on me.
Her hands moved in a strange direction and the markings on her body seemed to glow up, her copper skin radiating.
Her lips carried strange wordings that I had never heard.
Was it her spell that got me calm?
“You will be fine my queen” she whispered to me the moment our eyes locked.
“How do you feel now?” Her voice came like a fervent plea.
I gave a heavy sigh and straightened my skin. “I feel calm. What the hell was that?”
“You were feeling the pains Mina felt…”She left the sentence incomplete and I need not to be told the full information.
I was relieving Mina’s death day. My memories were now becoming very realistic.
It got me shuddering in my skin.
“Can I ask you off a favour?”
“Of course any thing my queen” Asa responded with glee.
“Take me with you to the places you and Mina went too. The place you both lived” I requested.
She seemed taken aback by my request.
“Are you sure?”
I gave a slow dip of my head.
“Alright then. As you wish my queen”
