How we met

SABRINA
My eyes squinted slightly, trying to make out the form of the human standing away from me with her back faced against me.
We were both in some sort of forest like environment; giant tall trees preventing the sunlight from reaching us, tall shrubs and grasses with different flora beautifying everywhere. This was definitely some sort of forest.
But what was I doing here?
More especially with her?
I was with the demon kings some moments ago now I’m in this bizzare place with this woman.
On its own accord, my legs began moving towards her direction. The chirping sounds of strange birds filled the air causing me to get shivers running down my spine.
I wondered why she could not hear my footsteps as I approached her. She should atleast be worried too that she is in such an eerie place with a stranger.
I watched her sit on the grass, her hands running through them whilst she began humming a melody vague to my ears.
“Hello?” My nervous voice called to get her attention but it seemed she didn’t hear me–or she was ignoring my presence.
My heart raced faster and I wondered why she didn’t respond to my call.
I stretched forth my hand, about calling her when she suddenly spun her body back, facing me.
I gasped on seeing her face.
She looked almost identical to me.
I glanced intently at her face and it seemed like I was staring at my reflection in the mirror.
Who was this woman?
She seemed to stare directly at me with some sort of worried and fearful look on her face but I don’t think she can see me.
She glanced around, her trepadised orbs roving around the environment before she took in a deep breath and stood up, dusting off any particules of the sand from her dress.
I could literally hear her thoughts in my head as she began walking into the forest.
It then dawned on me.
She was one of my past life selves. Was she Mina?
I gulped down the thought and began following her trails as we both walked into the forest. It didn’t seem like she could even see me around her.
“I have to head back home. Asa would be worried about me” she thought.
My eyes widened on the mention of that name–Asa. Wasn’t Asa the sylph who was specially assigned to take care of me?
Suddenly I was doused in an ominous feeling of dread and groom as we walked deeper into the forest. My stomach churned and knots got tied in it, a spine chilling fear racing down my back.
I trailed a few feets behind her, following her steps with every sort of carefulness.
“This is the shortest way home Asa. I do hope you would understand my late coming” she thought to herself once again.
An eerie silence consumed the atmosphere as we walked in the forest. My eyes were literally roving all around us. If only she could hear me, I would tell her that I don’t have a good feeling about this route she was taking to go meet Asa.
“Hello beautiful Mina” a groggy voice called out making both of us halt in our steps and spontaneously looking back with a sharp pivot.
So she is Mina. I had no time to focus on the fact that I was seeing my first past life self because of an unknown terror that gripped me.
Standing behind us was a tall man. No not a man. This was a demon. Horns sprouting out of his head with black broad wings flapping slowly to the ground.
His hair was scarlet red, looking so wild and its appearance was dishevelled.
“Oh no. Run away from this man. He seems dangerous”the voice in my head pleaded with hers but I doubt if she could hear my own thoughts.
“I waited for you but you didn’t show up” She said with a sigh. She didn’t look scared of him so why was I feeling scared of this demon.
He threw his head back and let out a harsh cackle echoing all around the forest. His laughter exposed his razor sharp canines and my jaws dropped.
Why wasn’t she scared of this being?
She stood calm and unfazed and I was being so scared and trepadised.
I could swear they both weren’t even seeing me yet I was the more frightened one.
“Now I’m here darling aren’t I? Why don’t we sit and talk?” He asked with a devilish smile curling open his pale face.
“I’m sorry but I have to go now. Asa would be worried” she shook her head.
A deep laughter rumbled from his chest, feeling the entire air once again with its sonorous sound.
“Good. You have ten seconds to go” his voice suddenly becomes harsh.
“W-what?” Mina stammered and moved back a bit. “W-what do you mean?”
The demon grinned at her mortified expression. “Ten… Nine… Eight” he began counting.
I watched all these happened with tears choking my eyes. Was this how Mina would die?
“Run!” I suddenly screamed out the moment Mina took to her heels.
It was a hot pursuit. I ran behind her, my heart pounding within me. My blood toppled as I ran, erratic breathing accompanying it.
I swiftly glanced back over my shoulders but I couldn’t see the demon any longer. Suddenly the shadow of a creature flying above us made I and Mina both look up at the sky in a fluid motion.
It was him. He was flying above us. He had gained on us. The tears streamed out of me like flood waters watching everything unfold.
Mina let out a piercing horrified scream. It shattered my soul watching the poor woman scream for her life as she saw her death imminent.
“Don’t harm her!” I screamed in tears the moment Mina fell to the ground, her knees grazing against a stone.
The demon landed behind us in such a terrible swift speed, his wings creating such a loud thud sweeping the ground.
“I don’t want to die in his hands” Mina cried within herself as she curled to a ball.
“Why are you doing this to me?!” She screamed looking at the demon.
He gave a dark chuckle and flashed her a sinister gaze. “I will really enjoy sinking my teeth into your soft sweet flesh”
He was going to kill her.
I was about shouting for her to run again as he slowly approached her but as I turned to look at him, bewilderment covers my entire face.
The demon kings appeared, tackling him to the ground. They looked more scary than ever.
Their body seemed like it was made out of a different kind of fire, hot and blazing.
I could literally see their insides burning with fire.
Horns sprouted out of their heads in an instant with their wings spreading out.
Aklyn gripped the demon by the throat, his hands emanating smoke from it.
Mina stood in a flash, the tremor in her body rising as she shook with each breath she took.
Compared to the demon kings, he looked frail and scrawny.
“Cory what were you about to do!?” Nelyx roared, his eyes blazing hot red.
The anger was dripping down from their bodies in a literal fiery form.
He was the Cory! The demon who killed Mina and also killed me in each life I was reincarnated into.
He was the one after my life.
I was as shocked as I was as surprised.
“My kings” Cory exclaimed.
“I didn’t know you both would be here” he struggled to breathe as Aklyn gripped around his neck tighter.
“Are you a reaper?!” Aklyn yelled.
“No” he gasped for air trying to release his neck from Aklyn’s grip.
The answer left the demons kings infuriated and their indignation blazed down furiously on him. The trees around us seemed to be getting caught on fire.
“Why are you then trying to kill this mortal!?” Nelyx rage shook the earth we stood on.
“Why don’t you just kill me already my king!” He spat venomously as his eyes flickered towards Mina and then back to the demon kings furious gazes.
“To hell with you!” Aklyn ordered and a dark portal opened underneath Cory, sucking him in immedately and closing up.
The demon kings turned their attention to face Mina, their expression now soften.
“Are you alright?” Aklyn asked giving her affectionate smile.
I suddenly felt a bit awkward and should I say jealous seeing the demon kings acting sweet around Mina. But that was still me but in a different life so why was I getting jealous of myself?
Mina nodded. “Thank you both so much. How shall I ever repay you?” The horror struck woman asked. We were very much connected so I could feel that she was still trying to calm her nerves down.
“You don’t have to worry about repaying us. We will lead you home. Cory is very dangerous and he might come after you if we let you go by yourself” Nelyx offered stretching out his hand for her to grasp.
Mina took hold of it, her terrified fingers trembling.
“You don’t have to be scared. Nobody will harm you as long as we are around angel” Aklyn tried to alley her fears.
The moment those words left his lips, I felt the earth spin underneath me with a violent wind suddenly causing me to loose my balance.
I shut my eyes close as I felt myself being sucked away from this life time.
