Linford put down his fork and walked out the door without saying anything.
Cody was thrilled that that man was gone. He even washed the dishes after dinner.
At night, Cristelle and her babies lay in the same bed. Cristelle suddenly decided to apologize to her babies, “I’m sorry, sweeties. Mommy shouldn’t have put herself in danger. You guys must be really worried.”
Cody smiled as he buried his face into Cristelle’s side, “Mommy, it’s okay. You don’t need to apologize to us.”
Cristelle pulled her babies to her sides. She felt a bit better as she thought of her sister, who was in another city right now.
“Guys, I believe we have gone through the worst part. I promise things will only get better after things are settled.”
“Okay!” Cody nodded.
Candace also left a kiss on Cristelle’s cheek, snuggling in her arms.
Meanwhile, Linford pushed open the door of his apartment. His apartment was only an aisle away from Cristelle’s.
Slumping against his couch, he grabbed a bottle of wine and popped it open.
Things wouldn’t end so easily.
He would make those people pay!

Diego and Pamela went back to their mansion together after what happened.
“I didn’t know that we would call the police. Or my plan would have worked out,” Pamela had been explaining to her husband pathetically on her way back. But Diego didn’t even spare her a glance. He pushed her away. “You have the gall to mention that! Did you touch my stuff in the study room?”
Claire’s whereabouts were his last hand of cards to deal with. He wouldn’t use that unless it were necessary. But this stupid woman just took away his secret weapon and ruined it.
His plan had been ruined.
He would never be able to get Cristelle back.
Pamela begged Diego to forgive her, but her husband wouldn’t even listen. So she gritted her teeth, “I am your legal wife! I have every right to go through your stuff! I was so close to making her yield yesterday, but you showed up and ruined everything! I just want to make that bitch disappear so we can finally live peacefully! What’s so wrong with that? You’re cringing now because you still have feelings for that slut! Am I right?!”
Diego raised his hand and slapped the woman across her face.
Pamela laughed, covering her swollen face, “You humiliated me for that whore again and again! I know what you’re thinking! If you want to make me suffer, I’ll also make you suffer! I would die to let you get that whore back!”
Diego narrowed his eyes in disgust, “I shouldn’t have married you in the first place. You’re such a stupid woman!”
“Yes, I am stupid… Out of so many men, I somehow chose you! I even brought half of my family wealth to you! And you’re treating me like a piece of shit!” Pamela cried, tears falling from her face.
Diego’s mother heard the argument, instantly walking out of her room, “What happened to you guys? Pamela, did you make a mistake again?” Mrs. Barnett sounded impatient as she asked that.
“I didn’t make any mistakes! It was him!” Pamela screamed, “I could have silenced that whore, but your son suddenly jumped out and ruined everything. Don’t you tell me that it’s my fault!”
Mrs. Barnett froze before she pulled Diego away, “Diego, what happened?”
Diego didn’t say anything. He felt too tired to say anything. Pamela thus explained everything, crying.
“If it were not for your son, that bitch would’ve been finished!”
“Shut the fuck up!” Diego yelled like a madman as he couldn’t stand this psycho anymore. He wanted a divorce instantly.
“Alright, stop screaming. We’re a family, so we should solve problems together. You must both calm down! Pamela, go back to your room. I’ll send a doctor to you later,” Mrs. Barnett frowned.
Pamela was still Diego’s wife. She didn’t want people to think that Diego was an abuser. That would smear the family name.
Seeing Pamela walk away, Mrs. Barnett asked her son with a low voice, “Did she tell the truth?”
Diego didn’t deny it.
Mrs. Barnett heaved a long sigh, “Diego, what were you doing? Why did you save Cristelle? And why did you search for her sister anyway?”
She even started to suspect her son.
Diego sighed, “Linford Bradley was only one minute late after I got there. It was probably a big trap. If I didn’t tell her about Claire’s hideout, the whole family would have been thrown in jail. Besides, Cristelle had promised to withdraw the charge against Pamela. So we’re safe now.”
Mrs. Barnett took a long breath after hearing that. It seemed like investigating Claire was not necessarily a bad thing. It was just that what had happened involved too many parties. She didn’t want her son to get in trouble.
“Since then, you should stop seeing Cristelle. She’s a jinx. She brought bad luck to people.”
Mrs. Barnett only wished her son could get rid of that woman as fast as possible, “I hope you and Pamela can get along. You need a warm family to support your career.”
Most importantly, they still needed the Lim House’s support.
Diego was extremely disappointed in his wife. He didn’t even want to mention her name, so he only nodded. “Mom, do you know why Cristelle got pregnant?” Diego still wanted to know.
Mrs. Barnett looked disgusted, “Why would I know? She’s been whoring around. Just promise me that you won’t see her again.”
“Okay,” Diego said half-mindedly. He didn’t go to the bedroom tonight. He didn’t even want to touch Pamela.

“Miss Friesley, are you sure you’re gonna withdraw the charge? They…”
“Please don’t say anything. I need to withdraw the charge. Just do it,” Cristelle seemed determined.
Officer Charles couldn’t wrap his head around her decision, “Does Mr. Bradley know about this?”
“It’s really none of his business, is it?” Cristelle clearly answered.
At this moment, however, Linford suddenly walked forth, his face cold and stern, “Who said it was okay? I’m afraid I have to disagree. And I need the police to arrest all the suspects.”
“Well…” Charles felt he was caught in between.
