Linford felt better as he saw his little princess, “I’m here to check out on you guys. Doc is cooking. The breakfast is gonna be ready soon.”
Cody pouted, “Candace is still sleepy. She won’t get up now.”
Before he could finish the sentence, Candace suddenly stretched her little arms at Linford, smiling.
Linford felt his heart was gonna melt. He carried Candace in his arms, kissing her little cheeks nonstop.
“Are you hungry?” Linford asked. Candace rested her head against his chest, nodding.
Cody was so pissed off that he felt he was gonna explode. When Linford carried Candace and left the room, Cody smashed the bed with his little fists like crazy.
He didn’t leave the bedroom even when Drew made breakfast.
“Cody! I made a pancake. Come out and eat,” Drew went into the room, ruffling Cody’s soft hair.
Linford only fed his daughter. He was so biased.
Cody pretended to be sleepy, burying his head into the pillow, “Doc, I still want to sleep. You go have breakfast without me.”
Drew laughed, “Come on, man. The pancake is so tasty. Just get up and have some. Do you still wanna grow bigger or not?”
“I’m not hungry,” Cody sounded resolute.
He refused to share the same table with that man.
Drew said everything he could think of to get the boy out of his bed. But Cody was so stubborn. He had to leave the room in the end.
“Cody said he doesn’t want to eat. I guess he’s just not hungry.”
Linford snapped, “He’ll eat when he’s hungry. Never mind him.”
“Linford, you can’t be so biased,” Drew pulled a face.
Linford ignored him.
Cody didn’t go out because he hated to see Linford’s face. He pretended to sleep, but after a couple of minutes, he fell asleep for real.
Linford went to check him out again. Seeing the boy really fall asleep, he sighed and tucked the blanket for him, leaving the room.
Cristelle only woke up around noon. She still felt tired and sore, moaning against her comforter.
She suddenly remembered what she had gone through last night. That man had stood there, watching, when she touched herself.
That was so freaking humiliating. Why did he decide to stay? Why didn’t he leave that room?
Cristelle couldn’t stop blushing, recalling the way he looked at her.
As much as she wanted to disappear, she still struggled to get up because she needed to check out her babies.
She suddenly saw Linford playing with Candace when she shuffled to the living room.
She had the heart to jump off her apartment building. Why was he still here? Didn’t he feel awkward at all?
Candace’s eyes lit up the moment she saw her mommy running toward Cristelle instantly. Cristelle held her little girl in her arms, feeling a bit difficult. Candace rubbed her cheek against hers, leaving fluffy kisses on her face.
“Mommy’s okay. Don’t worry, honey. Have you eaten?” Cristelle rubbed her little nose.
Candace nodded.
“Where’s Cody?”
Candace pointed at the bedroom. Cristelle thought her son was playing alone in the bedroom. She knew the boy didn’t like Linford.
“Candace, come over here,” Linford called out to her daughter.
Candace looked at her Mom and then looked at her dad. She missed her Mom. She wanted to spend more time with her.
Cristelle put her girl down, “Just go.”
Candace walked to Linford.
Drew looked concerned, “Cristelle, I’ve made some desserts. Why don’t you have some?”
Cristelle shook her head, “I’m not hungry.” She didn’t want to eat anything.
“Drew, you bring Candace to my apartment. It’s across the corridor,” Linford threw a key at Drew.
Cristelle’s mouth fell open, “So… It’s your apartment that has been renovated all this time?”
Linford nodded, “Yes.”
Cristelle rolled her eyes. These rich people.
Drew could feel the air was a bit strange. He carried Candace in his arms, cooing, “Do you wanna take a look at your dad’s apartment, princess?”
The little girl nodded.
After they left, Cristelle poured herself a cup of tap water and gulped it down. “About the Barnett… I’ve thought it through. I’m gonna withdraw the charge.”
“Why?” Linford arched an eyebrow, and his tone was cold and harsh.
“No reason. I just don’t want to continue all these tiring events anymore. They’ve taken a major blow after what happened recently. They won’t do anything to us anymore. We’ll be safe,” Cristelle was a bit unsure after uttering these words.
She didn’t even bother to find an excuse? Linford’s face darkened. He made Cristelle nervous, “Why did you leave alone yesterday?”
Cristelle could tell he was trying to contain his anger.
But she couldn’t help snapping back, “Mr. Bradley, we have a deal. You have no right to interfere with my private life. It’s none of your business.”
“It is your business, but you’re also my children’s mother. It would be best if you weren’t that reckless. What if anything happened to you? What would Cody and Candace do if you put yourself in danger?” Linford questioned her seriously, eyebrows frowning.
Cristelle still pulled a face. She didn’t want to explain anything, “Don’t use the babies to make me feel bad. I know what I’m doing. I could’ve got myself out of there if you didn’t show up yesterday.”
Linford couldn’t help recalling how Diego swooped her into his arms. Was that how she planned to get out of there?
“So, you were planning to rely on your ex?” Linford sounded sarcastic. He felt sick thinking about what he saw yesterday.
Cristelle went silent for a second, “Are you stalking me?”
“I am the children’s father. Therefore, I have the right to make sure of their safety.”
“You’ve only been their father for days. You have no right to tell me what to do. Have you ever fulfilled your obligation as their father for once during so many years? You can’t just stalk people without telling them!”
“Don’t change the topic. You shouldn’t contact that man if you’re a good mother. It should never happen. You bring a bad influence on the babies,” Linford snapped back.
