Chapter 38: Don’t Mention Divorce

Mrs. Barnett was still worried. But she was the hostess of the house. It was inconvenient for her to show up. She could only give up, “Fine. Just do what seems suitable. Call me if you ever need my help.”
“I know,” Diego took his assistant and left the house after saying that.
The interrogation was still going on. A couple of police officers tried to get the truth out of Pamela’s mouth, but she refused to say anything. She denied that she paid the killer to kill anyone.
“We’ve got enough evidence. You’ll still be thrown in jail if you deny everything.”
Pamela had been shaking since she entered this place, but she still managed to keep her mouth shut. She didn’t know how to make up perfect lies. She could only deny everything they said.
Diego brought his team of best lawyers in the evening. They managed to get her out, but she was forbidden to leave the country during this time.
“What the heck have you done, Pamela? I need you to explain everything,” Diego couldn’t conceal the pure disgust in his voice.
Pamela cried as she buried her head in his chest, denying everything, “I didn’t do it! It’s all Cristelle’s fault. That bitch planted this on me. Hubby, you know me. I won’t even step on an ant. Why would I ever kill someone? Don’t you know who I am, Hubby? You must believe me.”
Diego pushed her away, laughing coldly, “I know you too well, Pamela Lim. That’s why I’m asking you to tell me the truth. If you still decide to hide, there’s no way that I can save you.”
“What do you mean by saying this to me, honey? You don’t believe me?” Pamela still didn’t drop the acting.
Diego shoved the materials in her arms, “Take a look yourself. I won’t help you if you’re still lying.”
Diego sounded cold as he said that. He didn’t even bother to hide the pure disgust in his eyes.
Pamela broke into tears, “How could you be so cruel to me? Am I still your wife or not?”
“Drop it! Do you have any idea how many laws you have broken? You can ruin our company! You only have one choice left. Tell everything to the lawyers, or you’ll be thrown in jail!”
“You… Diego! You’re vicious! How could you!” Pamela’s makeup was smeared by her tears.
Diego didn’t want to waste his time with her anymore. He left a couple of lawyers in the room and walked away.
Mrs. Barnett was so worried that she couldn’t fall asleep, “Diego? Honey? Is everything okay? Did Pamela finally say anything?”
“It’s okay, Mom. Just go back to sleep,” Diego said as he closed his bedroom door.
Lying in his bed, Diego couldn’t stop thinking about Cristelle. If she were still with him, she would make everything in order instead of constantly causing trouble.
They would’ve been so happy.
But they would never go back. Pamela finally told the truth after a night of interrogation. She admitted that she had worked with Cyrus to sabotage Cristelle. She had even paid the killer to end Cody’s life.
“Pamela! You’re such a snake! Cristelle used to be your best friend. She doesn’t even pose any threat to you. But you still wanted her dead! When would you ever stop hurting her? I want a divorce!” Diego yelled, “I don’t want to spend my days with a snake!”
Divorce!?
“What did you just say? Are you really gonna divorce me for that? How could you do this to me?” Pamela shouted as tears rolled down her cheeks. She looked like a madwoman, “I hate her! I fucking hate her! She’s already had two babies, but she’s still seducing you! I wish she were dead!”
“I don’t understand you, Pamela. Cristelle and I are nothing now. Why can’t you let it pass? Why did you marry me in the first place if you mind my history so much? Pamela, I have my limits. Don’t use your family to threaten me again!” Diego wanted to slap some sense into her.
Mrs. Barnett came to calm them down as she heard the quarrel, “Come on, guys. We’re a family. Please don’t mention divorce. It’s silly.”
Their company still needed Pamela’s family. Mrs. Barnett wouldn’t let her son divorce this woman, but she had to admit that Pamela was such a stupid woman!
But Mrs. Barnett could only sigh as she said, “I’ll make sure our lawyers will finally win.”
“The lawyers have told me things will only worsen unless Cristelle suddenly decides to let it slide. Pamela will definitely be thrown in jail.” Diego laughed coldly.
“What?” Mrs. Barnett went petrified.
Pamela went pale instantly, “No! I’m not going to jail! Why should I go to jail? I did everything for you! For your company! You can’t do this to me!”
“I’ve found it. The Bradley house was the one that ruined Barnett’s business. Guess it’s because of the friction during their cooperation. The young Mrs. Barnett is gonna be thrown in jail. And their stocks are reducing.” Sandy took a sip from her coffee, smiling. “Linford is brutal, as always.”
Clara thought for a while, “Then what about Cristelle?”
“That employee? Even though she caused the whole thing, I still think she couldn’t affect the whole landscape that much. Why would Linford get back at Diego because of a little employee?”
Sandy stared into Clara’s eyes, “You don’t need to feel jealous. That woman has babies. Linford is clearly not interested in fathering other children.”
Clara blinked, “She even has babies?”
“Yeah, she’s got two. Nothing will happen between her and Linford. You don’t need to worry,” Sandy laughed.
Clara blushed, “Stop it! He’s my brother-in-law. I just want to know how’s his wife is gonna be like. I don’t want to stay under the same roof with some difficult person, you know?”
Sandy didn’t even bother to argue,” That’s right. Of course. You feel nothing for him.”
Clara could only roll his eyes.

“Mommy, hurry up! Drew is waiting!” Cody urged as he looked over his shoulder. Doc invited them to his house today. He had said there would be snacks and toys. Cody and Candace had been waiting for the day so anxiously.
