Cody giggled and patted his forehead, “I also like you, Doc. If you were my uncle, you’d be the coolest uncle.”
Drew still had to treat his sister. He must keep him happy.
Drew smiled so wide that he flexed his teeth before he turned to Linford, “Mr. Bradley, he’s just a kid. He didn’t know anything. He lied, and that kidnapper took it seriously. It was not his fault. Besides, you two really look like each other….”
Before Drew could finish the sentence, Linford suddenly fixed him with those cold eyes.
Drew stopped talking instantly.
At this moment, Cristelle only got to know that Cody had lied to the kidnapper to save himself. She didn’t expect Cody to be so smart at such a young age.
“Mr. Bradley…” Cristelle tried to explain.
“It’s okay. I’ll just let it slide this time,” Linford said. He didn’t want to make things difficult for anyone. Besides, this brat was his son, after all.
“Thank you, Mr. Bradley,” Cristelle smiled.
Cody glared at Linford. Why should Mom thank this man? He had only used his name to save himself. It was not like he stole his money.
“Well… Since the problem has been solved, let’s take a break and have lunch together. It’s on me,” Drew smiled, trying to make things less tense.
Cristelle said hastily, “No. You don’t have to do this, Doc. You guys helped me a lot recently. Please come to my house and have a meal this weekend. I want to cook some food to show appreciation for all the help you both have given me.”
“I’ll definitely be there. See you this weekend,” Drew answered instantly.
Cristelle cast a careful look at Linford. Linford only hummed, keeping a straight face, “I’ll rearrange my schedule.”
So that was a deal.
“Alright then, I’ll go back and get prepared,” Cristelle didn’t want to spend one more minute in that office. She found Linford intimidating. It made her uneasy.
“Alright then, I’ll go with you. Candace must want to hear more stories,” Drew agreed.
Candace looked around and reclined in her mom’s arms again.
At this time, someone suddenly knocked on the door.
“Come in,” Linford said calmly.
Fritzi walked into his office with the manager, “Mr. Bradley; someone just broke into the hall.”
“Who?” Linford frowned. How dare he?
“I think…” The manager looked awkward as he stuttered, “I think the gentleman is Miss Friesley’s relative.”
Relative?
Was it her uncle? Cristelle stood up from her seat instantly.
“Wait!” Linford stopped Cristelle, “Alfred. Go bring that man here.”
“Sure,” Alfred said as he went out of the door.
Cristelle’s hand was trembling as she scrolled down on her cell phone. The news had covered her uncle. He was kneeling at the gate of her company, holding a piece of cardboard.
The cardboard wrote, “I’m begging for your mercy, Cristelle! Don’t sabotage my family.”
There already had been a lot of people surrounding the place.
He was such a jerk! Cristelle was so pissed off that she almost threw her cell phone away.
She didn’t expect her uncle to be such a psycho. She didn’t compromise, and he came to her company, meaning to embarrass her in front of everyone.
“Mom, it’s okay,” Cody jumped off from Drew’s arms and hugged Cristelle’s legs, “Mom, it will be fine.”
Cristelle smiled bitterly as she stared down at her adorable son, “Of course. Don’t worry, honey.”
As picky as Linford was, he still had to admit this boy was quite sweet in a moment like this.
Soon, Cyrus was brought to the office. He was wearing a grey t-shirt, still holding the cardboard. Candace started to tremble as soon as she saw him. Cristelle held her baby girl even tighter, comforting her with a low voice.
Drew went to carry the girl in his arms, “It’s okay. I’m here. You’ll be safe.”
Candace only calmed down right now. Linford cast them a quick glance.
“Uncle, what is this?” Cristelle tried to suppress her anger.
Cyrus wanted a scene. Having so many people around suited his intention fine, “I didn’t mean to do this, Cristelle. But you left me no choice. I don’t want my family to fall apart because of you!”
He held Cristelle’s hand, begging, “If I don’t do this, I will lose my wife and daughter. Cristelle, please have mercy. Please don’t ruin my family!”
How could he be such a despicable person?
“Uncle, you’re always a decent man. You really don’t need to do this. I know you’re putting up a show to force me. But I won’t let you get what you want!” As guilty as Cristelle felt for the company, she still refused to give in.
“How could you be so cold-blooded? Do you still remember who helped you raise your kids? Do you remember who took care of you? Is this the way you repay us?” Cyrus cried as he shouted at her like she was the most vicious person in this world.
“Ingrid and Rose were just here to visit you, but you sent them to jail. Is your heart made of stone?” Cyrus screamed, trying to attract everyone’s attention.
Cristelle saw through his tricks right away. “How could you be so despicable, uncle? Let me be honest. I won’t let you get what you want, no matter how hard you try. I know you did this to make me look vicious. But I’m not scared of anything. I don’t care what other people think about me.”
Cyrus didn’t expect to hear that. So he cried even louder, “Bastard! Ungrateful Bastard!”
“Well… Sir… Can you calm down?” Drew couldn’t bear watching it anymore. The staff of the whole floor was looking at them.
“Cyrus, can you stop crying? Did someone send you here to put on this?” Cody suddenly said coldly. Cyrus went frozen instantly.
Cristelle also guessed that, but she never said it. It was already weird that Ingrid somehow got her keys. And now this drama?
She didn’t believe they were not secretly supported by someone else.
“You guys should leave. I need to talk with him,” Linford suddenly ordered them.
Cristelle was surprised, “Mr. Bradley, I think I can handle this.” This was her private issue, after all.
