Chapter 3 Mine for Now

MATEO’S P. O. V.
I slipped the tablet in her water without her noticing. This wasn’t my intention, I only keep the tablets on me for emergencies. You know to get away from a bad situation before it gets really bad. But the feeling I had as soon as I saw her, I couldn’t ignore it. Then when my hands made contact with her it was like a magnet pulling me to her.
I figured they had to have a back door by the bathrooms, they usually do, so I directed her towards it as soon as she started to feel the effects. Luck was on my side and I was able to get her outside before she passed out. I am sure her friends and a few others would have stopped us if she was passed out too soon.
When her body started to slump I knew I had to catch her. By the time I had her in my arms she was out. I had already linked my driver to meet us around back. He saw me approaching with her in my arms and didn’t even comment. He just opened the door and nodded. “Home Alpha.”
“Yes, Home.” I lifted her into the back of the truck and managed to pull myself up as well. I laid her on my lap. I couldn’t help but admire her beauty as she slept in my arms. Her chestnut hair laid across her face, I brushed it back. The only thing that I wished was that I could see her eyes. They sparkle when she talks.
My only reassurance in all of this is that no one even knows I was here. True I was here for business, but nothing that anyone would trace to this place. Then we will be long gone before they even know that she is gone. She didn’t hide it as well as she thought she did. There is only one wolf in this area with two dads. That is the Alpha’s daughter, then by confirming that her birthday is in a week, I confirmed who she was. I can guarantee I am going to get shit for this, but I have a plan. A quickly devised plan, but a plan nonetheless.
It takes several hours to get home. My pack. I am known as the death dealing Alpha, not that I have killed a lot of people, but my father did and the nickname stuck with the pack. I have contemplated changing the name of the pack to fix it, but I don’t think that will really do it. As a result of our reputation we have had to fortify our pack, to make sure that those who have a crusade against us can’t actually take us out. Quite honestly I feel like my house is a prison more than a home. Maybe with Lila there it can be different.
When we arrive at my house, which is in the middle of a compound, I carry Lila out of the truck. I don’t want anyone else to touch her. I take her straight to my room and place her on the bed. I don’t want to scare her but at the same time I don’t want to leave her. I lay on the bed next to her. I pull blankets over her body, but I stay out of them, that creates a barrier. That works right? She should still feel safe.
She should wake up in a few hours. I want to wake her, but I know that isn’t going to work. So I lay next to her.
The next morning I woke up with a slap to the face. I blink and look at the one welding it. Lila is sitting up over me. Her hand is poised to slap me again. Not exactly the reaction I was hoping for, but I don’t really blame her.
“Well, good morning to you.” I grumble at her.
“Where the hell am I?” She growls at me.
“Well, pet I brought you home.” She slaps me again. “You passed out, that is a lot of gratitude for a job well done. I could have just left you behind that club.”
She pauses and looks thoughtful for a moment. “Well, then you are going to take me home then?”
“No,” She slaps me again. “At least not today. You see I have a problem and only you can fix it.” At this point I am holding my face. Her slaps aren’t a joke. If I wasn’t an Alpha they would do some serious damage.
“Oh, you are out of your mind. I am not fixing any of your problems.” She climbs out of the bed. “I am getting the hell out of here.” I watch as she leaves the room.
I smile and adjust myself on the bed. I put my hands behind my head and cross my legs at the ankles. I know she isn’t going very far and she will be back. It takes ten minutes before I hear her scream, then another five for her to come back into the room. “You better let me out of here.”
I smirk. “No, I don’t think I will.”
“This is kidnapping. My father is the Alpha of the Black Forest Pack, do you honestly think that you are going to get away with this?”
“Like I said pet, I will be returning you, but not today. I am thinking Wednesday.” I smile at her.
“That is my birthday.”
“I know.”
She lunges at me. Her fists are flying. I grab both her wrists and flip her over on the bed so that she is under me. I straddle her so that she can’t kick out, and pin her arms above her head.
“Let me go.” She screams at me.
“Pet, we are going to spend this time getting to know each other. Just like I said we would. You are not in any danger. No one will hurt you here. This is merely an introduction of sorts.”
“Can’t you just come to my birthday party like everyone else?” She growls at me.
“Unfortunately I wasn’t given an invitation, so I had to make one.”
She stares at me for a minute. “You are from the Moonridge pack. They are the blood thirsty pack. No wonder you didn’t get an invitation. Plus if you are the type of wolves to kidnap girls then I agree you shouldn’t be at my party.”
“I am not just any wolf of Moonridge. I am their Alpha, so do you think it’s wise to hit me repeatedly.” I don’t growl, I have no intention to hurt her. I just want her to stop hitting me.
She gasps. “You are Alpha of Moonridge?”
“Yes, now are you going to stop hitting me?” I raise an eyebrow at her to make it clear that it is a question and I want an answer.
“Yes,” She sounds a little breathless, maybe scared. I let go of her hands and sit up straighter.
“Now that that is settled, would you like breakfast?”
She looks at me like I just sprouted a second head. “Excuse me.”
I climbed off her. “Look, I was serious about getting to know you. That is all this week is. I am not going to throw you in the dungeon or anything. I will even unlock the door, you just can’t leave the compound. Give me the week.”
She raises up on her elbows. “Are you out of your mind?”
“Not particularly. I want the world to see my pack differently, for that to happen I need someone outside the pack to get to know us. That is why I want you to spend time with us.”
She glares at me, “Why me?”
I smile and lean over on the bed so I am close to her face. “Who better than an Alpha’s daughter. The next Alpha of her pack.”
“Then you knew who I was last night, before you drugged me.”
I tap her nose with my finger. “Clever girl. Yes, I knew who you were. You aren’t as good a liar as you think you are.”
She grumbles. “You could have at least asked.”
I get just a little closer. “And would you have come?”
She pulls back a little bit. “I guess you’re right, I wouldn’t have.”
I stand. “Good now that we have that all cleared up, let’s get breakfast.”
I leave her in the bedroom.
