LILA’S P. O. V.
Fuck, I am so dead. As soon as Daddy finds out that I am missing he is going to kill me. There will be no going back from that. My mom is going to hate me. Uncle Jay might eat me. Dad, oh, goddess dad, he is going to die without me. It’s not like he has other people who want him around. All because of what? I needed a little freedom. Now I am a prisoner of the death dealing Alpha.
I have nothing here either, no clothes, hell I don’t even have a tooth brush. He says he wants to be civil, but what the hell am I going to do for a week in these clothes.
I exit the room again to head to where I am assuming is the kitchen. I follow the sounds towards the kitchen. Then I hear Mateo, he is talking to someone, maybe on the phone because I don’t hear a reply. When I make it to the kitchen I am surprised to see a little boy sitting at the counter. Mateo is talking away to him, but the boy isn’t talking back. He can’t be older than five, but he’s old enough to talk. Most boys this age can’t stop talking, with eight brothers I am well aware of this fact.
Mateo sees me and smiles. “Good, you decided to join us. This is Callum. He doesn’t talk, but he is a great listener.” He turns to the little boy. “This is the girl I was telling you about. Don’t worry, I don’t think she will hit you.”
The little boy’s eyes get wide. I put my hands up in surrender. “I swear I will not hit you.” He seems to relax a little but he eyes me cautiously. “Why doesn’t he talk?” I look back at Mateo curiously.
He just shrugs. “Doc can’t explain it. Says there is nothing medical that prevents him from talking, he just doesn’t.” Mateo moves around the kitchen as he talks. “He’s a good kid though. I haven’t had to send him to the dungeon yet.” He winks at the boy, who smiles back.
“Where are his parents?”
Another shrug. “Don’t know. We found him a couple of years ago in the woods. He can’t tell us where he’s from, and he was so little then, I’m not so sure that he knew anyway. He’s about five from our estimates, but he has been here since he was three. We use the day we found him as his birthday, because we don’t actually know what it is. I sent out notices to the other packs around, but no one claimed him. So, he has been living with me. You will see him quite a bit this week.” He turns around with two plates in his hand. He passes one to Callum and places the other one next to him. “Come eat. I promise I didn’t drug it. It would defeat the purpose of you being here.”
“Why does he live with you? Surely there are mother wolves that would have taken him in.” I take the seat next to Callum.
He smiles, “Well, the little guy grew on me. Plus you know I have this whole house to myself, I figured it wouldn’t be so bad to share it with someone. He has a nanny that stays here now, she’s out right now. You can meet her later. I figured we can eat and then I’ll have you meet with someone that can go pick you up the things that you need. I am sure you would like to get out of that dress.”
“Yeah, that would be nice. You didn’t think it through so well, when you kidnapped me.” I scoff at him.
He waves me off. “So you have to be in that dress for a little while. Or another option is that you can take a shower and wear some of my clothes until they get back with some new ones for you.” I don’t miss the smirk on his face.
“I think I would rather go naked.” I roll my eyes.
He leans forward. “That can be arranged too.” Why does that send shivers up my spine? The good kind. He pulls back. “I like the dress anyway.”
I am quiet for a moment. “Fine, I will take a shower and wear some of your clothes. For now.” I point out. I don’t want him to think I am too comfortable with him.
He smiles. “Good pet. Now eat.” He takes his plate and sits on the other side of Callum.
I do eat, but all I can think about is what my parents are thinking right now.
