Landon arrived downstairs, followed shortly by Enzo and Tessa.
“Just now, our man told me that near our location, they found some bonfires and food scraps,” Enzo said.
“The town is a distance away, no one should know there’s a house here,” remarked Enzo.
“But when we came, someone was responsible for checking and covering our tracks. It’s impossible for anyone to follow us,” Tessa added.
Could it be the FBI? Sookie’s heart raced at the thought. Just as she was contemplating whether to turn herself in, a voice came from a distance.
“We’ve got someone.”
Soon after, two members of the Shadowy Saints escorted a person over.
“Roy? What are you doing here?” Tessa exclaimed in surprise.
Roy was the captain of their elite team, and she had specifically assigned him to guard the base.
“We found this on him,” one of the members said, handing over a piece of parchment.
Enzo took it, opened it, and saw that it was a topographic map of this hill. It detailed the routes in and out of the hill, the location of their villa, all very clear.
“Sorry, leader, I was too worried about you all, so I followed,” Roy said, head down, his expression unreadable.
Enzo stared sharply at him. “And what about this map?”
“I was afraid of getting lost, so…”
Enzo’s lips curved slightly, as if he were smiling. He slowly squatted in front of Roy.
“There’s something you’d better understand in advance. I don’t like it when people lie to my face.”
Roy couldn’t help but shudder. He knew Enzo; this man was unpredictable and ruthless.
“What did they offer you?” Enzo asked.
Roy hesitated. “I… I don’t understand what you mean…”
Suddenly, Enzo chuckled, his voice calm and measured.
“Did they tell you that as long as you came to figure out the terrain and tell them our location, and cooperated with them in getting rid of us, once the Shadowy Saints were absorbed, you would be the leader of the Shadowy Saints?”
“Sorry, boss, I don’t understand what you’re talking about,” Roy persisted.
Enzo chuckled lightly and produced a laptop.
“Do you recognize this car?”
Roy’s eyes widened. It was the car he had driven here, a white unmarked car he had specifically chosen to run errands for Barton.
Enzo raised his hand and tapped the laptop screen. “Take a good look. What’s under the seat?”
Roy looked over, puzzled.
When he saw what it was, a coldness ran through his body.
The Shadowy Saints had survived the longest of the three gangs not only because they were brutal and strategic, but also because they were adept at using people. They recruited individuals who were experts in all kinds of military communications technology. Even before Landon and the others arrived, Enzo had already inoculated them against any surprises in the vicinity of the mountain. The vehicles that were supposed to meet Landon had been arranged in advance by Enzo, and no outside vehicles could get anywhere near.
Enzo leaned in slowly, his tone eerie. “You’re too naive, kid… ” He smiled slightly. “If you could follow, they certainly could too. The bomb under the seat is controlled by a cell signal. Once your message goes out, it will explode… If you betray me, they will have no choice but to kill you to silence you before I can gather evidence against them… You don’t even understand such a simple truth?”
Roy knelt down, his voice filled with extreme regret and fear.
“Boss! Just give me one more chance! Just one! I won’t do it again!…”
Enzo looked at him, his eyes cold and mocking.
“I value talent and trust in my people. You’ve been with the Shadowy Saints for so many years, I’ve never treated you unfairly. You want another chance? Fine, I’ll give you one more chance.”
Suddenly, Enzo pulled out a Walther P38, a top-of-the-line German pistol. He raised it and flung it in front of Roy, his eyes calm and unmoving.
“… I’m giving you one last chance. I don’t want to do it myself. Sort it out on your own.”
Enzo wanted him dead.
As it turned out, the rumors were true-Enzo never let traitors to the Shadowy Saints off the hook.
Anyone pushed to the brink of life could be very dangerous. Roy, looking at the gun Enzo had thrown in front of him, was suddenly filled with a ruthless flame. He quickly picked up the gun from the ground and slowly stood up.
He aimed the gun at Enzo.
Enzo immediately smiled.
“… You want to kill me?”
Roy trembled all over, out of control as he shouted, “I just want to live! As longas you let me go, I won’t kill you!”
Enzo’s sudden smile was beautiful and cruel at the same time.
“Roy,” his voice was very gentle, “Everyone in the Shadowy Saints knows that I dislike being threatened the most…”
This version of Enzo was suffocating.
Roy didn’t dare to shoot, but the reality was not prepared to spare him. He saw Enzo’s movements clearly, as he drew another gun from his holster with astonishing speed.
Roy shouted, “Enzo! Don’t force me!”
Enzo smiled, a cruel smile directed at Roy, and slowly raised the gun in his hand.
Roy was completely pushed to the edge, and finally shouted, aiming and firing at Enzo.
Click-
An empty sound.
Roy looked at the gun in his hand, hearing the lonely emptiness it produced. It was as if he was waking up from a dream, and persistently fired several shots.
Alas, all of them were empty. There were no bullets in the gun to begin with.
Enzo’s sensual and magnificent voice circled low in the spacious area, “I already told you earlier, I’m giving you one last chance… It’s you, who doesn’t know how to cherish it.”
He pulled the trigger, and the deed was done.
Killing was his exclusive domain.
A bullet pierced Roy’s forehead, and he fell backwards, lifeless.
Enzo dropped the gun, a savage look on his face.
“Get him out of here,” he called, and his men quickly moved forward.
“And also, check the people around Roy.”
His men hesitated for a moment. “And if we find anyone?”
Enzo’s thin lips curled, every word dripping with lethal intent.
“Clean house. Leave no one behind.”
Suddenly, the sound of clothing scraping against the ground echoed, and Enzo and his men turned in surprise to see Sookie falling to the ground.
Sookie’s deeply terrified expression was caught by everyone’s eyes.
For the first time, she had witnessed him killing so directly, at such close range.
He wasn’t the man who had been intimate with her, nor was he the man who would care about her emotions. He was the ruthless killer of the Shadowy Saints.
