Third Person’s POV;
“I am stopping you because I love you, Layla…!” Liam didn’t let go of her shoulders and moved closer to her.
Layla’s eyes were wide open. Even though they were mates, Liam always behaved playfully with her which made her super comfortable with him.
Layla’s feet were glued to the ground, her lips sealed, and she was as speechless for words.
“I am in love with you. I am madly, crazily, and insanely in love with you” He said, his voice holding all the right emotions.
The eye contact was enough to make her feel the butterflies going wild in her stomach.
She always wanted Liam to talk with emotions and be clear about his feelings but now that he was confessing his feelings seriously, she didn’t know how to react.
“My parents died when I was just a kid. Yeah, I know you are going to say that your Aunt and uncle brought me up…” Liam waved his hand when he knew how Layla was going to react.
‘How did he know I was going to say that?’ she questioned herself.
Sometimes she thinks that Liam might know her better than she knows herself.
“But you know how Elijah’s parents were busy in their whole mess. Even Elijah was devoid of love sometimes” Liam explained gently giving her time to absorb his every word.
Liam’s hand went from her shoulder to her cheek and he cupped her face before adding,
“But the point is, I can’t afford to lose you. You are my only family. I can’t even imagine spending a day without you. You are like my oxygen. I want you. I need you. I love you” He expressed with ease as these emotions were always present in his heart.
“Liam….” Layla barely whispered but Liam kept his index finger on her cushion-soft lips.
“Shhh! Please don’t argue. I am unable to argue with you at the moment. Please just listen to me and stay here. I promise I will fight with those bloody leeches and try to protect your family until my last breath” Liam promised as he kept her hand on his chest.
“I will try to protect them with my life. Even if I have to sacrifice myself to protect your family, I will gladly do that to make you happy, I promise” Liam promised on his life and Layla was stunned for words.
“But please I won’t be able to bear it if I lose you. I love you more than my life. In fact, you are my life. Don’t take my life away from me. I beg you” Liam begged her to stay back only hoping she would understand how much she meant to him.
A tear fell from Layla’s eye when she heard Liam’s heartfelt confession. He was quick to wipe it away.
Ever since she was young, she always wanted a caring mate. A guy who loves her more than his own life. She wanted to be his first priority, and right now, she just realized that all of her wishes came true. Her mate is exactly how she wanted him to be. He wasn’t just open about his feelings before. But the way he said it, she could tell that he meant each and every word he said.
When she first met him, she was afraid that her mate wouldn’t accept her because she was unable to shift but Liam was different, he accepted her with a warm smile and open heart with all her flaws. He still loved and cherished her with all his heart. He was the funny mischievous guy, who always gave all of his attention to her, and took her complete attention by doing stupid things as well.
Now that she was giving it a thought, she realized that she was always his priority. He was always nice to her. She couldn’t be more thankful to have such a gentleman as her mate.
There was a moment of silence. They were still looking into each other’s eyes with overflowing emotions.
“On one condition” Layla finally spoke without breaking the eye contact.
“Huh?” Liam was so focused in her eyes that he didn’t hear her demand.
“I will agree to your request on one condition” Layla repeated and this time Liam took a sigh of relief to hear her agreement.
“Whatever you say, baby. I will agree to everything” Liam said ready to accept any demand and condition only if it will keep her safe.
“You have to come back…” She said with eyes filled with tears and continued,
“…. preferably in one piece”
The latter of her statement made both of them chuckle.
“Okay, I will try to get back to you strictly in one piece but I am a bit upset” Liam said pouting at the end.
“Why is that, Liam?” Layla asked shyly.
“You didn’t reply” Liam commented and Layla feigned ignorance but she understood what he was referring to.
“To what?” Layla asked with a tilt of her head,
“Do you know how many times I said that I love you?” Liam said offended by her ignorance.
“And I still can’t get enough of it!” Layla replied copying his tone.
“I love you” Liam said and kissed her nose which made her chuckle.
“I love you too” She replied truthfully.
“I think I need to do one confession before you leave” Layla said in a bit uneasy tone.
“Say it” Liam said softly.
“I fell for you the moment I saw you” Layla confessed.
“Same here” Liam replied while keeping a strand of her auburn-colored hair behind her ear.
“Like I didn’t know. There was nothing for you to deny. I am beautiful, I am Alpha’s daughter, my aunt is werewolf queen and my rank was above you” Layla teased him mercilessly.
“True, you are seriously the most beautiful woman in my eyes. I am so lucky” Liam’s reply made her blush because she was expecting a joke from him.
“You didn’t showcase my flaw” Layla said looking down.
“There was a flaw in you?” Liam asked confusedly.
“I wasn’t changed, Liam!” Layla said always feeling embarrassed by the thought.
“That wasn’t a flaw in my eyes. You were perfect then and you are perfect now” Liam said with a sweet smile.
“Gosh, I love you” Layla said not believing her ears.
“I love you more” saying that Liam crashed his lips on hers.
