Chapter 96: You’re Not Qualified Enough

Charlotte was extremely nervous. “I… I am currently the director of the Pittman Group. My child’s father just returned, and we currently have no…”
“How much is your monthly salary?” Rebecca interrupted her words nonchalantly.
The Pittman family couldn’t even be considered a third-rate aristocratic family in Stresall.
And Quentin was from the Holland family that had gone bankrupt, so he could be ignored.
“I… It’s around 20, 000,” Charlotte lowered her head. 20, 000 could sustain a family’s livelihood, but in this context, it was nothing in Sloburg Kindergarten.
Rebecca finished recording the information, closed her notebook, and maintained a cold demeanor. “Alright, I have recorded everything. You can go now.”
“I have some business to attend to, so I won’t disturb you any further.” Her tone was indifferent.
If it were someone else, she might have tried to please them or show some empathy…
But these two? There was no need for that, right?
Charlotte clenched her fists. Suddenly, she felt a sense of powerlessness.
This school wasn’t as good as she had imagined. In this environment filled with wealthy and privileged children, without any backing, would their two children be happy here?
Or perhaps… they would feel out of place in this environment! Wouldn’t that make them develop feelings of inferiority?
Quentin furrowed his brow and revealed a faint smile. “Is this the attitude your school adopts?”
Although he didn’t oppose Raphael starting a school to build connections, he still saw a school as a place of education.
This system was suffused with a sense of commercialism and comparison. How could children who grew up in such an environment receive a proper education?
Quentin wouldn’t allow Theo and Janessa to experience such a situation.
Rebecca became somewhat displeased and coldly said, “Mr. Holland, please mind your words. This is the system of our school, and it’s not your place to intervene.”
“If you truly have the ability, then improve your own strength instead of trying to challenge our rules. With so many children from prestigious families studying here…”
“We cannot treat everyone equally. Certain individuals will inevitably receive special treatment.”
“I understand,” Quentin nodded.
“So, why should we, as teachers, invest so much effort in those students who don’t have much family background?” Rebecca spoke with a self-righteous tone. “We can determine their treatment based on the capital behind them, and we can accept that.”
“Many parents can accept it too.”
“Do the weak have the qualification to negotiate terms?” Her tone was incredibly sarcastic.
“I agree with what you’re saying, but this is not just about doing business; it’s also about education,” Quentin’s tone was solemn, and he was starting to get angry as well.
Does someone like her deserve to be involved in education?
Rebecca chuckled, “Mr. Holland, to put it bluntly, in our school, those students without status or background can only sit in the back row of the classroom. No one will play with them or pay attention to them. The other students are always discussing various luxury items, showing off their wealth…”
“Do you think some poor losers can fit in? You need to have self-awareness in life.”
“That’s the rule in our school.” Rebecca sneered, “With your status, you can’t shake it.”
“Is that so? Rules? Who made them?”
Quentin was becoming annoyed and angry. He took out a cigarette, placed it in his mouth, but didn’t light it.
“It’s the hidden rule everyone here accepts!”
“If you have the ability, go talk to my boss!”
Rebecca no longer bothered to pretend and openly displayed her disdain on her face.
“Quentin…” Charlotte pulled his arm. “Let it go; don’t argue.”
She was afraid that if they offended Rebecca, the latter would make things difficult for their children. Why bother having a head-on confrontation with the director?
Quentin patted her arm. “It’s okay.”
He slightly raised his gaze, his eyes deep and calm. “The boss you mentioned is Raphael?”
“That’s right.”
“Alright.” Quentin nodded. “You said I can’t shake the rules of your school, but I’m a stubborn person and I want to give it a try.” He took out his phone.
Rebecca sneered, “Look at you, pretending to be some influential guy. I’ll wait here and see what tricks you are playing!”
A fallen young man, an eyesore to the top four richest families. What could he possibly do? And he dared to pretend in front of her? How amusing!
