Anna was furious. “Quentin! What do you mean by this?”
“I mean what I mean,” Quentin replied calmly.
Parker clenched his fists and glared angrily at Quentin. “A despicable scoundrel like you dare to be so arrogant and ungrateful.”
“Enough!” Charlotte was also angered. “I came here to eat, not to listen to your quarrels. Anna, if you still consider me a friend, stop making things difficult for Quentin.”
It was clear to Charlotte that Parker had immediately tried to suppress Quentin. Why was he now acting like the victim? Charlotte was feeling quite irritated.
“Enough, for the sake of the beautiful Anna, I won’t argue with you,” Parker said with a smile.
He glanced at Charlotte, and a subtle glint appeared in his eyes. In terms of elegance, appearance, and figure, Charlotte outclassed Anna by a couple of notches. If only…
“Charlotte, what nonsense are you talking? We are good friends,” Anna immediately stepped forward and took Charlotte’s hand. “Let’s not bother with these two. Let’s go shopping.”
The two women walked out, and Parker coldly glanced at Quentin before lowering his voice. “Do you think you’re still the rich boy from the Holland family? Today, I will make you realize your current status!”
After his words, he walked off with an air of superiority.
Quentin smirked. What a ridiculous display of self-importance.
As they stepped out, a brand new Mercedes S-Class parked in front of the gate, drawing the attention of many people. This car was the latest model and had a starting price of over eight hundred thousand dollars.
Whose car was this?
“Darling, is this your new car?” Anna’s smile radiated with vanity, completely satisfied.
“I just got it a few days ago,” Parker bragged and pressed the key, opening the car door. Anna immediately sat inside.
Parker looked at Charlotte. “Charlotte, want to ride in my car? It’s a new car, the experience is quite good.”
“As for Mr. Holland, you might as well take the bus. I bet you wouldn’t even look at my low-end car worth seven to eight hundred thousand, right?” Parker sneered.
He looked at Charlotte, hoping to see admiration in her eyes.
Unfortunately, Charlotte simply shook her head. “No, thank you. I’ll ride with Quentin.”
Upon hearing this, Parker’s expression darkened slightly.
“Sir, madam, please get in the car,” Eileen stepped down from the nearby business car.
“So, this old car is yours?” Parker couldn’t help but sneer.
“So what?” Quentin retorted indifferently.
“Charlotte, it’d be quite embarrassing to get into this old car. You should ride with me instead,” Anna scoffed. “Let him ride alone.”
“No need,” Charlotte said as she confidently got into the business car.
Although she said it was nothing, deep down, she felt the disparity.
Anna sat in the Mercedes, while she could only ride in this van.
Quentin read her thoughts and smiled, “I’ll get you a new car in a few days, you can choose whichever you like.”
“This car is indeed uncomfortable.” While he didn’t mind it, he couldn’t let his woman suffer. He didn’t want Charlotte to be ridiculed in this way.
“Don’t bother. If you have spare money, invest it in your business. Don’t spend it on such meaningless things. I’m not a vain woman,” Charlotte said firmly.
“You should think about how to overcome the current difficulties!”
“The money for a car is really just a small amount to me…”
“Quentin! You need to face reality! The Holland family is no more…”
“I also want to drive a luxury car, live in a villa, give the best to my children, and indulge my family! But I know… it’s not realistic…”
“I hope you can be down-to-earth and not live in a dream, bragging all the time! Do you understand me?” Charlotte’s voice trembled with emotion.
“…. Alright!” Quentin could only nod as he saw her strong reaction.
But… to Quentin, money was just a number!
Half an hour later, two cars parked outside the pedestrian street.
This place was Stresall’s largest luxury goods street, with well-dressed men and women passing by.
“Charlotte, let’s go! We’re buying a bag!” Anna pulled Charlotte along.
Parker sneered, “Mr. Holland, with your current wealth, you can’t afford anything here, can you? How pathetic!” He turned smugly and kept up with the two women’s pace.
Ignoring him, Quentin spoke to Eileen, “Do you have the card?”
“I do,” Eileen said in disbelief, “Sir, you could easily buy this entire street with any random card of yours…”
“Well, let’s go in then!”
Inside the store, LV, Hermes, Dior, Gucci and other branded bags filled the shelves.
Anna quickly spotted a backpack, “Darling, this Chanel bag is nice, it’s only eighty-eight thousand, I want it.”
Parker’s mouth twitched. Eighty-eight thousand… to him, it was not a small amount.
“What’s wrong? This amount of money should be just a drop in the bucket for you!” Anna had a naive look on her face.
Charlotte also looked at Parker with curiosity, wondering about this guy’s financial power.
Quentin had a playful expression.
“Buy it!” Parker couldn’t bear losing face and could only grit his teeth.
Anna happily kissed him. But… Parker’s face looked grim.
“Charlotte, which one catches your eye?” Anna suddenly asked, “I think these styles would suit your temperament.”
“The bag you’re using has been worn for so many years, it’s so worn out, yet you’re still using it?” She said with a teasing and superior tone.
Then she pointed to a Chanel bag, priced at one hundred and sixty-eight thousand, and a LV bag, though an old style, was the cheapest in the store, only eight thousand six hundred.
Quentin’s face darkened. Anna was such a scheming woman; as Charlotte’s best friend, she must be well aware of Charlotte’s current situation.
Charlotte definitely couldn’t afford the expensive one.
If she bought the cheap one, wouldn’t it imply that Charlotte was only worth the cheap stuff?
Wasn’t this embarrassing for Charlotte?
Sure enough.
Charlotte blushed, “I… I can’t afford it.”
“Well, the one worth eight thousand six hundred is also nice, it’s better than your current no-name one,” Anna chuckled, “It’s not expensive; it’s time for a change.”
Her voice was not low, and many staff in the store cast their eyes this way.
In that moment, Charlotte felt utterly embarrassed, wishing she could find a hole to hide in…
Why didn’t Anna care about the occasion or her feelings? Those strange looks made her involuntarily lower her head…
“I… I’ll just look…” She really couldn’t afford it!
“Buy it! Why not buy it?” At that moment, Quentin grabbed her hand, “I’ll buy it for you!”
Charlotte was stunned.
Quentin’s tone was calm as he asked one of the staff, “Excuse me, miss, which is your most expensive bag in the store?”
As he spoke, Anna and Parker both chuckled…
“Quentin, please, stop kidding around!” Charlotte felt more and more embarrassed, “It would be so humiliating if there’s a misunderstanding later…”
