Chapter 83: Giving You Respect

Book:Fallen Heir Rising Published:2024-6-5

“Just the cost of a meal,” Quentin was frustrated. “I can certainly afford a simple meal.” He patted his pockets and realized he had forgotten his bank card, a look of embarrassment crossing his face.
“Hehe! Out of bank cards, huh? Tsk tsk, such an old excuse. You really have the nerve to say that? What a loser. If you don’t have money, just admit it. Why fake being wealthy?” Anna’s mockery was unreserved.
Upon hearing her words, Quentin, despite his good manners, could no longer bear it. He reached for his phone intending to call Eileen. After all, he entrusted his belongings to her care.
“I knew you would pull this trick… useless,” Anna taunted without restraint.
“All right, all right,” Charlotte glanced at Quentin and said, “Anna, this meal is on me.”
Seeing Quentin in such a pitiful state, she couldn’t bear it.
“Okay, after we finish eating, let’s go shopping. I’ll call my boyfriend to join us.”
“Weren’t you just single? Reconciled?”
“Oh, that was someone else! I knew him before. The previous one was so broke, didn’t buy me much even after a month or two, just a total of around two to three hundred thousand. Later, he couldn’t bear to buy me a bag, just several dozen thousand… Men these days were disgusting, want to hit on a woman without paying? Dream on!” Anna looked disdainful.
“The current one, on the other hand, has decent financial means. Maybe this one will last longer. But, he and I are not destined to be together. After all, I’m going to marry into wealth and be a rich lady in the future…”
Quentin was truly exasperated.
How long does it take for an ordinary man to save up two to three hundred thousand?
And she squandered it all in just a couple of months.
After squeezing out their value, she would just kick the person to the curb. Quentin felt extreme disgust towards her.
How could Charlotte, such a naive girl, have such a repulsive friend?
After about fifteen minutes, a young man in a suit approached.
“Anna-” The man called out.
Anna immediately stood up, affectionately linking arms with the man. “Darling, you finally came? I’ve been waiting for you…”
“This is my boyfriend, Parker Collins, his family runs a furniture store,” Anna flaunted proudly.
“Nice to meet you.” Parker smiled. “Anna often talks about her best friend with me.”
Quentin nodded faintly. Seeing the affectionate display of the two, he found it quite amusing. Just now, Anna was discussing when to dump him, and now she was putting on this affectionate act.
In Anna’s eyes, this poor man was just a lottery ticket.
Use and discard.
He couldn’t help but feel sorry for this guy, to end up with such a woman…
“This is Quentin, the son of Dominick from before, you should have some impression, right?”
At Anna’s words, a faint smile crept onto his face. “Of course, I do. But… now, the Holland family should be bankrupt, right? I heard that many of the Holland family’s assets have been confiscated, and the Hollands’ situation is very difficult.”
“Mr. Holland, if you don’t mind, you can come to work in my furniture store. It won’t discriminate against someone who’s just been released from prison.”
“We’ve been doing well in business lately, and we’re in need of someone to move furniture.”
He handed over his business card with a smile.
Quentin couldn’t help but smile at the veiled jabs.
Now, he didn’t feel sorry for this guy anymore. Neither of them was an easy mark.
He took the business card from Parker’s hand.
Charlotte looked embarrassed.
The smile at the corner of Parker’s mouth became even more ironic.
“Mr. Holland is really making an effort. I believe you’ll have an opportunity for a comeback…” Parker sneered.
Before he finished his sentence, Quentin let go of the card, which fell to the ground…
Quentin stepped on it with his shoe, slowly rubbing it.
“Mr. Collins, I know my shoes are a bit dirty. Can I borrow this to clean the soles? Thank you very much.”
The three of them fell silent.
Especially Parker, at that moment, his face was turning green with anger!
“You…” Parker was furious because Quentin stepped on his business card. This was a blatant humiliation!
“Are you… seriously, Mr. Collins, are you angry now?”
