Chapter FORTY FIVE

Book:The Rise Of The Phoenix Queen Published:2024-5-1

Kyle’s POV
I paced angrily about my room. It was something I had always done whenever I felt angry or if I felt that I had been wronged by someone. This time, pacing around did not do anything to help with my anger though. My father had originally spoken to his board and others about my plan, and they had all accepted it with open arms and wide smiles and mouths full of praises.
But that was it. That was all I had received. Praises and seemingly passionate words of titles were wolves who were merely feeling the moment. They had felt energized by the plan and how quick to accomplish it seemed and so my father made them give me their support, but that was all it was.
I even felt that my father had another plan and mine was just a cover up for him to do his thing. He had used me for his own gain. That was just like him. And if I went up to my father in this temper, he would not stand for it. Neither of us had good tempers, but my father was by far the stronger were wolf. I could barely stand my ground against my sister in a good, clean- or dirty fight, not to talk of my father.
I decided that it would be better- and definitely much safer to calm myself down before going to see my father, the alpha.
I shouted for a servant and immediately two rushed in with petrified looks on their faces.
Good. This was what I liked to see on people’s faces.
“Can’t you see that your next alpha is hot and very thirsty? Do I have to tell you when to fetch me a cold drink for me?” I barked at them.
“We’re very sorry, sir. We would get one for you now.” They said and hastily ran off, returning soon with trays with chilled water and drinks on each of them.
They dropped the trays and I shouted at them to get out of my room, and then in the mannerisms of a savage animal, I drank all the cold liquids, a mixture of all of them dribbling down my chin. After a change of clothes and three or four deep breaths, I had decided that I was finally calm enough to speak to my father without him flaring his temper.
When I went to father’s room, he was not there. Instead, I met him with Kylie in his office. Of course, it was not like I was the next in line to be crowned alpha, but he always had to discuss important matters and decisions guarding the pack with Kylie like she was the next ruler of the pack. My blood boiled.
“Good afternoon, father.” I said with a straight face. I did not come here to rile him up, but I also knew that I definitely did not come to smile and chit chat either.
“Come and sit with your sister and I, my son.” My father said, motioning to the chair just by Kylie’s side. I went over and did as he said.
“Now, why did you come to my office?” My father asked as I took my seat. My nostrils flared as I turned my head to look at my sister smirking smugly.
“Why was Kylie here, father?” I asked him as I glared at my sister.
“We had important pack issues to discuss, that is why. What did you say you wanted?” Father gave a grin.
“I did not mention it yet.” I dragged my words out as I looked at Kylie.
“Then say it quickly! Time is not on anyone’s side.” My father said, hitting the table in the process.
“Fine.” I said, raising my voice a bit higher. “Nobody ever takes me seriously, in fact, nobody wants to take me seriously anymore! Father, I thought of a plan, and at the time, it seemed really good and everyone agreed to it. But is that all? What happened to the implementation of the plan? Is that all it is ever going to be? A perfectly good plan left to dust?” I said with some anger in my tone.
“I had a better plan, so father did not really need yours anymore.” Kylie said nonchalantly.
“And nobody thought to tell me? This is unfair, father! Do you want to make her the alpha then without letting me know too?” I growled and my father growled back, exerting dominance.
“Is that how you speak to your father, you graceless son of mine? If you can come up with another better plan, then we would use yours!” My father said and I watched Kylie’s smile drop.
“Father, you already said that you would use my plan!” She cried out.
“The plan that makes me the winner is the one I would use. Do not disturb me, young girl.” Father growled. Then he turned to me.
“I have given you another chance. Speak.”
I took in a deep breath and started. “As we are all aware, I also want revenge as much as father does-” Kylie cut me in.
“As much as I do too!”
I scoffed at her. “You do not want anything. You are just in a pathetic constant self-made competition with me. Get over yourself.” Thankfully, father did not speak for or against any of us at that point. I turned back to him.
“Ever since the disrespect meted out to me by Rachelle, and the loss of some of our people and soldiers, I have not been at peace. I suggest we attack immediately.” I pounded my fists against each other.
“We can attack them in the middle of the night as you earlier said?” My father, alpha Edward asked me.
Kylie nodded, seemingly eager to get into father’s good books. “Yes, yes, that is a great idea!”
“No, it is not a great idea! The crescent moon pack currently has a lot more fighters than us, they even had more fighters than we did before, but now it is even worse as we have lost so many soldiers to their hands already. They would overpower us and have us ambushed faster than we would be able to retreat.” I said, reclining and giving Kylie a small smug smile.
“So, what do you suggest, my son?” Father said.
Father was only toying with our emotions. He only wanted us as pawns, and although we knew that, we did not care. We only craved for his attention and tried to be the best children he could ever wish for.
“It is only a modification of my original plan. Telling Rachelle that both of her parents are here and asking for her would not sound so believable. She would surely see through it and all our plans would be laid to waste.” I said, enjoying their eyes on me and father’s attention.
“Instead, we would tell her that we have traced and found her father, instead of him finding us.” I said.
“But why?” Kylie asked, giving me a dirty look.
“Because, my dear sister, it would be too much of a coincidental action for her father to arrive to look for her not long after she left and we got attacked. So telling her that we traced the location of her father would sound so much better.” I nodded.
“We can tell her that if she does not come to save him, he would be killed. That we would kill him and he would never get to ever meet you.” I said.
“She had always been an orphaned slave. Do you really think that she would come to save the man who was never there for her?” Kylie sneered.
“Not everything is an attack against you. Sometimes, all you need to do is to have an open mind. Telling Rachelle that ‘He would never get the chance to meet her’ would only ignite a small fire of doubt. She would begin to wonder if her father ever knew that she even existed. And that small fire is all we need.” I laughed.
“Do you think she would come to save someone who supposedly does not know if she actually exists?” Kylie rolled her eyes and then looked at father.
“Dad, Kyle is not thinking straight.” She said.
“Go ahead, Kyle, I am listening to what you have to say.” Father said, completely ignoring Kylie.
“She would come because that is the kind of we’re wolf Rachelle is. She thinks that she has a moral responsibility towards everything and everyone else, so she would definitely come. Everett on the other hand would not trust us, and would not want Rachelle to come back, so he would try to persuade her to stay at the crescent pack. Rachelle would refuse and still be head bent on coming here, but then since she refused to stay back at the crescent moon pack, Everett would want to come with her. And if Everett comes with her, do you know what that means, father?” I asked father with a half-smile.
“Of course my son! This is what I like! With your plan it is easier to kill two birds with one stone!” Father exclaimed while he rubbed his beard with excitement.
“Of course, the alpha Everett would want to have Rachelle protected and by his side always, so he would come here with her. When the both of them arrive, they would not understand what hit them until we hit them ourselves!”
“Yes, and it certainly would be so much easier to take over the paz pack then.” Kylie nodded and clapped her hands, feigning excitement.
“And we can have them stuck in the paz pack here, and go over there and take over their pack! A pack without an alpha is much easier to defeat. We would just kill Everett and Rachelle, and then we would attack their pack. Easy. Come and go.” I sighed and let out a whistle.
“Why should we kill Everett and Rachelle? Why not make them watch you take over their pack? Surely that disgrace is even worse than death, is it not, father?” Kylie asked.
“No father, we cannot take that risk! Let us just kill them once and for all!” I raised my voice. “A lot of things could possibly go wrong, let us just go with the original plan of killing them!”
“You think like a loser. So you are trying to say that your plan is not good enough to keep them in place then?” Kylie asked, taunting me.
“I am trying to make sure that all obstructions are eliminated.” I gritted my teeth.
“I have approved of all of Kyle’s plans today, but I would not approve of this. We would not kill them yet, we will make them watch us conquer and defeat, and we would make them rethink and question their entire existence!” Father thundered and I put my head in one hand.
Did they not understand that a lot of things may not go according to plan if they were left to live? Even in captivity.
Suddenly, Kylie’s face changed emotions and she stood up immediately.
“What is it, young girl?” Father asked with anger.
“What is the matter, Kylie?” I asked too, my brows raised in confusion.
She sniffed slowly. Drama queen. “I can smell them. Intruder. Trespasser.” She whispered and shook her head, closing her eyes before opening them again. “No. Eavesdropper. Do we have a spy?” She asked nobody in particular as she wore a maniacal grin on her face.

Stellan’s POV
I had heard all of what had been discussed between Alpha Edward, Kyle and Kylie and I had moved away as quickly and as quietly as I could without any of them noticing my presence.
I decided to wait until it was nightfall before contacting Everett to tell him about all it was that I had heard earlier.
