Rachelle’s pov
Morning came and my heart threatened to burst out of my chest as I got up from my bed. I took a long time staring at the mirror as I wondered what would be in store for me at the priest’s place today. Would it be good or bad news? I couldn’t say until I went there with Everett to find out myself. I decided to discard all thoughts relating to the priest for a while and go through the morning like it was every other normal morning without overthinking and went downstairs for breakfast. Violet and Theodore were in the kitchen already and I could hear Crew and Hazel chatter from the dining room.
“Good morning Rachelle” Violet chirped from the gas where she flipped the egg she was frying while blowing me an air kiss. I smiled and playfully caught the kiss before waking over to her to give a hug from behind since she was busy at the moment.
“Slept well?” I asked and she nodded “mmhmm” she replied and turned the egg into a plate then handed it to me.
“Your breakfast Madame” she said and I laughed as I took it and walked to the table in the middle of the kitchen “good morning Theodore” I extended my greeting to him too and he smiled at me before concentrating on what he was doing. Theodore then gave me a glass of juice and two slices of toast bread before attending to Violet to take the other plates and went to serve Crew and Hazel at the dining room.
I wasn’t surprised that he was good at serving but I couldn’t help but admire how fluid and smooth his movements were, he really knew his way around the kitchen.
“Sometimes I think he should be a waiter instead” Violet said like she could read my thoughts and I smile “he’s really good as guard too” I told her and she shrugged “it wouldn’t hurt to try something new… and maybe he would loosen up for a change” she replied and we laughed just as he walked back in “you two seem to forget I can hear you” he warned and Violet stuck her tongue out at him “like you’ll do anything about it” she said and Theodore only smiled before he took the glasses of juice for Hazel and Crew and walked out again.
Everett walked in at that moment still looking sleepy and came straight for me “good morning” he said in a sleepy voice that I thought was sexy and gave me a kiss which I responded to gleefully. “Slept well?” I asked him to and he nods with a smile “but my morning just got better” he adds while looking at my lips and I smacked him on his shoulder “go get your breakfast” I sent him off and he pouted before eventually obeying and went to give Violet a side hug as he told her a good morning too. “Hey bro, good morning” Theodore greeted when he walked back into the kitchen and grabbed the plate of toasts for Crew and Hazel “hey” Everett replied with a nod and sat beside me.
“Are you ready for today hun?” He questioned and I shrugged because I didn’t know if I was, I just wanted to get it over with and kill the mountain of curiosity that had taken residence in my head and mind these past few days ever since I learnt of the history of the white wolves. I couldn’t keep on postponing it so I just had to do it before it got too late for me and something regrettable happened. “I’m not sure honestly” I said and swallowed “but it isn’t really about being ready most times, it’s about starting right?” I told him and he smiled while he chewed “yeah, let’s just get it done with then” he agreed and took my hand, giving me a gentle reassuring squeeze
“You’ll be fine Rachelle, trust me” he told me and I nodded “I will be fine” I declared to myself to kill the panic that wanted to surface and faced my food, at least I had to eat before going to face whatever it was going to be at the priest’s house.
***************
I was dressed and ready, Everett was ready too and we headed for the car to leave for the priest’s place after we bade everyone bye for the day, Crew gave me a hug and told me he believed in me with a smile while Hazel held my hands and told me I was strong because she knew it, I felt quite better because their encouragement helped a bit. He still held my hand in the car when he noticed I kept playing with my fingers and gave me an encouraging smile to calm my nerves and it helped a little, I took slow deep breaths occasionally till we got to our destination and got down from the car.
Everett rang the doorbell and the person I never presumed to be the priest opened the door, I thought he was going to lead us to where we’d sit and wait for the priest himself but instead he took us to his office where he did his work and sat me down in the chair I assumed was used for people that he did his magic thing for.
He looked rather young and was handsome. He didn’t wear the regular weird clothes that priests wore, Instead he was simply in a pair of pants and a shirt. He seemed less intimidating and friendlier that way. He wasn’t an old grumpy man, he didn’t dress weird and looked young… I began to feel nerves calm down once I analyzed our host, the whole place and situation, and relaxed as I sat in the ‘special’ chair for me.
“Good day Rachelle, my name is Edward, I’m the priest and I’ll be attending to your wish” he said. Everett was there too and he seemed really calm like he had seen this a million times and knew the drill; the whole process and how Edward went about it.
“You sound more like a therapist” I told him and he smiled, trying to hold his laughter back while Everett chuckled. Edward looked at him and said “she’s funny” he referred to me and I smiled too… I felt at ease now and somehow felt like I wasn’t in harm’s way when he used his magic on me.
Everett’s pov
Edward was gentle with Rachelle and I was glad to see her nerves weren’t getting the best of her anymore like when she was in the car with me.
I met Edward six years ago, he was half warlock and werewolf so he wasn’t accepted by many and was often discriminated against amongst werewolves whenever people found out who he was and what he could do. He looked harmless to me and seemed like he had a good aura around him so I started speaking to him that day and we clicked. He had pure intentions and I felt I could use someone with his powers in my pack. He could heal wounds of fighters that were important and needed at all times, he could create to protect us when it was needed and help with situations like this; find out more about issues that were beyond our control or reach in finding out the truth.
It was a secret deal so no one knew he was in my pack or had any business with me, but he loved the life he was living now and was content to be wanted and appreciated somewhere.
I watched him take Rachelle’s hand and he stared at her for a while, she stared back at him brazenly with blinking once, he smiled again “you’re ready” he declared to Rachelle and she grinned. It was his test of knowing if his stare intimidated his subject or not and I trusted Rachelle’s feistiness, she wasn’t going to fall for that.
“Now I have to warn you, I’m about to send you to another realm and it could be dangerous sometimes. When you get there, focus solely on what you want, do not accept anything from anyone, try not to speak to anyone except the person that approaches you with the answers you seek for” Edward told her with a serious face this time and Rachelle’s face mirrored his “I don’t understand” she said looking a bit confused
“It’s hard to explain but all I’ll say is to follow your heart, for the purest of hearts find answers in the purest form… the magic realm could be a dangerous place so be careful Rachelle, you could see people you trust in this realm there but they aren’t really the ones. Don’t fall for that, just head straight for what you want” he replied and Rachelle nodded in obedience before he opened her palm to begin.
Rachelle looked at me and she seemed scared, I knew she was looking at me to assure her that nothing would go wrong so I nodded and she understood and turned back to Edward, took a deep breath and said “let’s do this now” and she closed her eyes.
I began to feel my heart beat for her, I wasn’t scared about anything going wrong, I was worried she might not be ready for this but I couldn’t stop her, she wanted to get it over with and that I would let her do it. I was going to show my support and stay beside her until she was done with this phase.
Edward began to chant a spell as he drew lazy circles on her palm. He threw his head back and his eyeballs turned white as his voice changed and he sounded like several people were speaking at the same time; like a legion. I wasn’t seeing this for the first time but it was crazy how it always gave me Goosebumps and the hair on my skin stand on end. My gaze shifted to Rachelle and I noticed she was slowly losing consciousness. Then slowly her eyes closed and she was out like a light, her body lying there on the chair but her soul in another realm that was way different from this world.
Rachelle’s pov
I opened my eyes and I was at the paz pack, of all places I didn’t expect to be here and I wondered why the spell Edward chanted brought me here. “Just focus Rachelle” a voice whispered in the air and I knew it was Edward guiding me. I gulped and began to walk… then Violet appeared out of nowhere and was coming towards me with a huge smile that kind of looked creepy that made me realize she wasn’t the one, my mind was probably playing games with me. I closed my eyes to concentrate and when I opened them I was in the alpha’s meeting chamber. I felt fear creep up my skin and I tried to leave but all the doors were gone, it was a walled room.
I turned back to the table in the meeting chamber and saw alpha Edward sitting there with hatred in his eyes then he morphed into alpha Graham and that was the last straw for the creepy things I’d been seeing. I began to hyperventilate and I thought I was losing it. I couldn’t breathe and my heart felt heavy. Alpha Graham was dead! I wasn’t expecting to see a dead man no matter how nice he was to me while alive. “Breathe Rachelle” Alpha Graham said and came to me. He had a strange look in his eyes; his eyes were filled with love as he gave a watery smile and stroked my hair gently “how I’ve missed you Rachelle” he said
“You’re meant to be dead!” I exclaimed and he nodded in agreement
“I have the answers you seek for” he replied and I began to get myself back, Alpha Graham was the bearer of the answers I seeked.
