Everett’s POV
I walked over to the Beta’s office to speak to Theodore. Violet was just like a sister to me and matters that included her life were important to mine too. Her parents died right before my eyes and entrusted me to care for her until I died.
I owed her some happiness at least, and I know how much one’s mate can bring a lot of happiness to them. I mean, look at my perfect mate, Rachelle.
If Violet wanted to have her mate with her, she deserved to, but still, I needed Stellan to take part in some of the work that needed to be done. As my spy, he had to stay at the Blood moon’s pack and give me information regarding the Blood moon pack and its members and if he came back, there was a possibility that the evil pack alpha would somehow be able to do something evil, especially to my pack and I would not be able to stop it.
But first of all, I felt like I needed to talk it all out with my beta and best friend first. And so that was why I was headed to his office to have a conversation with him.
As I opened the door of Theodore’s office, I found Paloma, one of my good friends sitting on his table.
“Everett!” She exclaimed and hopped off the table and jumped onto my waiting open arms.
“Look who came back and decided to go see her true childhood friend first. Am I not also your friend, huh?” I said, faking a frown.
“Yes, yes you are! But Theodore was filling me in on all the happenings in this place!” she said, beaming.
Theodore waved her aside. “Women love gossip.”
“But that aside, congratulations Everett, I am so happy for you! I can’t believe that you finally have a mate!” She squealed.
“Yes. Finally, I do not have to feel like a weirdo with other alphas when they stand with their Lunas.”I said to her, pinching her cheek as I did so.
“Hey Alpha. I’m sure you came to talk to me, but then Paloma is getting in your way.” Theodore said as he stood up.
“Yes, Beta. I did come to talk to you, but seeing Hazel made me sidetracked.” I nodded.
Paloma rolled her eyes at the both of us before exiting Theodore’s office.
“I’ll see you guys later, I want to meet the alpha’s mate.” She said as she slid away from us.
“How is everything going, man?” Theodore said, giving me his fists with the knuckles facing outward to bump with mine. I bumped mine with his.
“With Rachelle? Perfect. She is the best thing I have got in this life. She is so effortlessly beautiful, and am I the only one who thinks that there is an aura around her? Like this bright golden glow? I see it all over her all the time, and it actually makes me feel like I’m talking to the moon goddess or one of her direct children themselves. And then I feel so warm and tingly inside. Is this normal? Does this happen to everyone else too?” I asked, shaking my head in the process. Rachelle was honestly the best thing that had happened to me and I honestly could not see myself anywhere or doing anything without her by my side.
“I think so.” Theodore slurred. Then he poked me.
“Dude, I think you have zoned out again, chill. It is okay to feel this way towards your mate. I just hope that I would find my own soon. Very soon.” He shrugged.
“I hope so too. Then we can go on double dates and stuff.” I grinned at him.
“Bro, you sound like a girl.” He said sniffing. “You smell like a werewolf in love. Wow.” He began to laugh and I smacked him.
“You can’t smell love, silly. You can only sense it.”
“My apologies. You came here to speak to me? I hope it’s not important. Was hoping we could get wings at the new restaurant in the town.” Theodore said as he sat down.
“Oh, King wings? I was hoping that we would go there too. Maybe we go later today, what do you think?” I asked him and shrugged.
“What do I think? I think that is an awesome idea. Let us do that.” He said, putting out his fists.
I hit them with mine gently. Fist bump.
“I wanted to talk to you about Violet. Violet and her mate related issues.” I said, taking a seat on the couch in his office.
“Oh yeah, that. I cannot imagine how hard that must be for her.” Theodore said. And then he shrugged.
“Actually, I really can’t imagine how hard that must be for her, because I do not have a mate.”
I removed my shoe and threw it at him, laughing. “Idiot.”
The shoe hit him on the head and he began to laugh. “It was only a small joke. But I would be serious now. Once a person has found their mate, they would yearn to be with them at every moment possible. They would itch with need, and not just the need to complete the mating process, but for them to feel their mate’s touch, to hear their voice, or just to hear them breathe beside them. That is just how these things work, but I’m sure you know that.”
“Yes, yes I do. But how do you know that?” I asked him.
“I have seen the way you mated were wolves act around each other and it sickens me. But I have also been around you draw all of that information from it, so yeah.” He tapped at his forehead.
“I hope you find your mate soon bro. Then you would get it. Violet wants to be with Stellan. What do you suggest we do?” I rested my elbows on my knees.
“Well, that would be difficult to say. But I would have to take into consideration the fact that Violet is my friend- out friend. And she is like a sister to you. I am sure that she is hurting every day, and while I am perfectly assured that she is happy for you and Rachelle, she would also be envious in some way? Because her own mate is not physically present with her and she would love to do all the things you have been doing with Rachelle. Go on dates, play, sleep, more than sleep-” I cut my perverted friend off.
“Straight to the point is how we do it please!” I groaned.
“Well, I think that she deserves some happiness. She should have Stellan close to her. Especially after all that she had gone through with Alpha Edward of the Blood moon pack and his evil children.” Theodore clapped his hands and reclined on his seat, his eyes shifting to meet mine.
“But I can easily tell that what you think, what you want to happen is the exact opposite of what I want. So you, why don’t you tell me what you think, brother?”
With I sigh, I lay down on the couch and began to speak.
“Yes, you were right. While Violet is our friend, and she is like a sister to me, we also have to take into consideration, the fact that Stellan is working for us as a spy in the Blood moon pack. We cannot just ask him to come home that would be dangerous for him and for us. You do know that he is our inside access to them, and that he sends us information regularly. If he does not, we would not be able to keep up with their alpha’s evil plans. And even so, how do you think that Stellan would just be able to leave suddenly. We were planning to attack the blood moon pack sooner or later, were we not? Why should Stellan come home when we are so close to tasting victory?” I said with a tired groan, inwardly wishing that I did not have to make these hard decisions sometimes.
“Do you want domination over the Blood moon pack, or do you want the werewolf whom you regard as your younger sister to be happy? Where does your passion lie? Which one is your priority, Everett?” Theodore leaned forward.
“Now, this is you getting everything all wrong. It is not even about the dominance, or asserting a right over the pack, it is all mostly about safety. Those people hurt my mate! They have hurt Rachelle and a lot of other werewolf too. They were tortured and abused, and just because Rachelle and Violet got out does not mean that they would release the rest, or keep them in humane conditions. You know that, right?” I said, questioning him.
“Yes, alpha. That is absolutely correct.” He nodded.
“And then you also know how ruthless that pack can be. Do you think that just because we have not heard anything from them for a while after we saved my mate and Violet that they would let everything go? Because they are silent? I assure you, they are busy cooking up more evil plans, and until we have wiped out Alpha Edward and his children from the face of the earth, Violet and Rachelle, and possibly other members of the pack would not be safe. A small sacrifice to pay for the greater good- not that it is a small sacrifice exactly, but compared to what we would gain from it, it is a small sacrifice.” I finished.
“But Everett, we can still send another spy over to complete Stellan’s work and then allow Stellan to go home, can we not?” Theodore asked.
“Yes, we can do that Theodore.” I said, looking into his eyes.
“Why do I feel that there is a ‘but’ coming in soon?” Theodore mumbled and I laughed.
“But if we do that-” Theodore cut me in.
“I knew it!” He said.
“But if we do that, Theodore, then what do you think would happen? We would have to go over the whole legal processes to allow the new spy to gain access into the system, and that alone would make the blood moon pack suspicious. We can allow him to go in without the proper formalities, he would still be noticed and sniffed out anyway. Stellan is a high ranking worker now at the alpha’s place, and he already knows the ropes around the whole thing. He knows his way around the system, so I am sure now that you know that bringing Stellan back would only be a waste of time and resources.” I said to Theodore. The argument was giving me a headache already.
Theodore nodded. “But let us call Stellan to see what he thinks, with all due respect, alpha. I just think that he deserves to have a say.”
“Call him, put him on speaker then.” I shrugged and sat up as Theodore dialed Stellan’s number on his phone.
“Uncle Sam.” Stellan’s gruff voice sounded from the phone speaker’s.
“Is everything alright, Stellan?” I asked him from where I sat.
“Yes, my brother. Everything is alright, the work here is good and there is no complaint.” Stellan said.
Theodore and I widened our eyes as we understood that he was most likely in the midst of other were wolves and he did not want them to get suspicious.
“What would you say if we asked you to return home to your mate?” Theodore asked him.
“No, Uncle Sam. Tell mother that I am too busy with very important work to do, I cannot come home to Violet at this time, I am busy and it is not wise for the family business. Please tell her to wait for me.” Stellan said.
“Alright then.” I said.
“Please tell Violet that she should take care of herself. I will see her one day hopefully.” He said and cut the call abruptly.
He asked us to tell Violet to take care. I would deliver the message. Theodore looked at me with a frown and I did the same.
Then he shrugged.
“Wings and drinks later still on?”
“Of course.” I nodded and left his office.
