When we got to the club, my excitement had gotten to it’s highest heights and the exhilarating chills running down my back was something I’d missed greatly. Aside from the number of scents overwhelming me and the fact that my ears are a little sensitive, this is awesome! Everything is awesome!
We hit the dance floor as soon as we landed, but me and Lucas were the only lone wolves who had no partners. Plus, the twins and Ash decided not to tag along in the end, so barely any close companion either. Still, it was fun nonetheless.
Afterwards, we went to the bar and it was at that point that I began to think ‘this isn’t as fun as I thought’. First of all, it was stressful watching them enjoy themselves drinking liquor while knowing full well I can’t do the same. Second of all, the stupid eyes on me make me feel like I’m in some sort of cage.
The guys keep glancing at me every few seconds and people I have never seen before seem to have taken interest in my presence, most of them smell like wolves. Plus, Lucas can definitely count every single breath I’ve taken since I’ve been here. His eyes literally never leave me! Ugh!
I twirled the orange juice in my glass, sighing before tipping it at my lips. I took two gulps and settled the glass back to the counter then dug into my purse, pulling out another two chocolates Chase had given me before I left. He keeps handing me these even when I don’t ask, I do appreciate his dedication to the kid in my belly .
“Are you alright?”
I scowled, “Lucas, you’ve asked me that a million times, I’m perfectly fi-” I paused, realizing that the voice hadn’t sounded anywhere close to Lucas’. Who the hell? I turned my head, eyes landing on a tall dude standing next to me. His hair was messed atop his head, he had a nice chiseled jawline and absolutely flawless tan skin. He wore a simple blue jean with a long sleeved shirt, but despite his plain appearance, his aura screamed authority. Who is he? The Alpha of some pack?
“What do you want?” Lucas was up in an instant, squeezing himself between me and the guy. It was kinda funny watching him glare at someone clearly taller and more muscular than he was, but then, the situation got a tad bit more dangerous when in the blink of an eye, I found myself immediately surrounded by a bunch of Kasan’s guys. Slipping my chocolate back into the purse, I tugged on Lucas’ shirt, having no choice but to jump in.
“I’m not an idiot, I know how to reject a guy. Tell them to back down. You’re drawing unwanted attention.”
Lucas clenched his jaw but he stepped aside nonetheless, gesturing for the rest of them to back off.
Letting out a relieved breath, I returned my gaze to the guy and raised a brow, “So, you need something or what? My guys don’t like strangers.”
He lazily held his hands up, “My name’s Aiden. I’m not here to fight, I just want to drink. My bad if you sensed any hostility. By the looks of it-” he sat on the stool next to me and shifted his gaze to my neck, eyeing my mark, “-you’re mated and you hold a high position in your pack. Are you Luna? Beta?”
Isn’t this guy too chill for an Alpha? Is he really that high ranked? Or is something wrong with my nose?
“I’m none-of-your-business.”
He chuckled, but anyone could notice the half-hearted manner, “I’m not trying to pry. Its just, your scent smells familiar, have we met before?…”
“No.”
“Okay.” A frown climbed onto his face as he sprawled his head across the counter, grabbing a random half-filled glass that someone had left there before we came. I watched him in utter disgust while he dipped a finger in the drink and stuffed said finger into his mouth. His face twisted for a seconds while the taste spread in his mouth before he raised his head and swept the glass into his grasp, tilting it all at his lips.
Is he drunk?!
“Why on earth would you drink that? I get that you’re in a shitty mood, but still, that’s gross.”
“To be honest…” he started, “…I came to have a bit of fun, but those who’ve caught my eye are either mated, has a bunch of bodyguards or both. This is better, I guess? No, this is very good! It’s a sign that the goddess wants me to abstain, isn’t it?” He settled the glass back on the counter and slid his hand across, audaciously reaching for my drink as well.
I grabbed it before he could, emptying the contains down my throat. “Get your own, creep.”
‘Clara, won’t you tell that wolf to leave? Should we get rid of him?’ Lucas’ irritated voice popped into my head via mind-link.
‘He’s not doing anything fishy. I guess it’s fine if he keeps on chatting. Besides, we don’t own the place.’ I shrugged.
He doesn’t seem like a threat anyway, rather he just looks like he’s had a bad day or a bad life over all. Still, I don’t see how that’s my problem. Why the hell did he choose to complain to me of all people?
“So, do we really not know each other? Is that guy beside you your mate?”
“Nope to both questions. By the way, you look like the whole world’s on your shoulders. Did your pack run off without you?”
“Its funny how you look the exact same, but no, I still got my pack. The problem is, I have no mate.” He sighed, “You think the goddess will give an impure wolf a mate? One with no patience, no self control? Do I really have a chance? Or will I be mateless forever? She’s punishing me, isn’t she?”
I’m getting the feeling that if I continue sitting here, this creep will keep spitting things about his life from start to finish.
And surprisingly, he did just that.

“…”
“So in conclusion, you’re worried you don’t have a mate? And if you do, you’re still worried they won’t want you because you’ve been gallivanting around with women all your life? Yet you said you came here to have fun?” I took my third glass of orange juice from the bartender and sipped a little, trying to hold back the laugh that threatened to rise up my throat.
“It’s a habit I can’t get rid of.” He scratched the back of his head sheepishly.
This poor, pathetic soul.
“If you don’t have a mate, you can just find someone for yourself, can’t you? But seriously if you ain’t got one, the moon goddess is shit. I mean, have a little fairness, right?”
He nodded frantically. “What about if I do have one?”
“Its simple, they ain’t gotta know. Lying is always an option and if you do tell the truth, well that’s yours to figure out. Who says they’ll be put off, anyway? How you’re worried about such trivial things is a mystery, aren’t you an Alpha?”
“I am.” He admitted, “Do I seem pathetic?”
Yes, you totally do.
“Nope. Not at all.”
“You’re lying. I’m the lowest of the lowest, aren’t I? I don’t think my pack wants me either.”
Ugh for fucks sake!
“Wait, what if my mate’s a church girl? How will she accept a tainted wolf like me?”
“Dude!” I glared at him as he stretched for another glass of liquor. With an annoyed sigh, I grabbed his wrist when he pressed the rim to his lips, “You’re giving me a headache, I don’t think you should drink anything else. Anyway, I’m gonna go in a bit. I feel like if I stay here you won’t stop ranting. And you d—”
“Your scent…!” He cut me off, eyes dropping to my hand as his nostrils suddenly flared. Without warning, he all out began to sniff me, literally didn’t even try to do it discreetly.
“What the hell are you doing?!” Slightly startled, I released his wrist and went to pull my hand back but he moved faster, and the next thing I knew, he was the one gripping my wrist.
“The scent…its separate from yours? Is it familiar…? No, I think…I’m really beginning to think it’s mate!”
“Huh!”
A scent? He means…his mate’s scent is on me? The heck? But I haven’t been rolling around with any women enough for their scent to rub off on me. Is he mistaken? Or is—wait! The triplets! But I showered! Is their scent supposed to be this freaking persistent!?
So, he’s mated to those tramps? Seriously? Woah! Am I cupid?!
“What you’re saying is yo—”
“Clara.”
I stiffened. K-K-Kasan!?
