“Is there a reason why you keep spacing out?” Damon asked, side-eyeing Sarah as they walked through the mall. She shook her head without a word, making his eyes twitch in annoyance. “Then is there a reason why you’ve been avoiding my gaze? Did you do something wrong?”
Sarah tensed at that. Had she done something wrong? Seeing the photo of him and a woman by chance isn’t considered wrong, right? But she had a feeling that if she told him exactly that, then he’d only get angry. He must’ve kept the drawer closed for a reason. That photo obviously wasn’t meant to be seen.
“No.” She paused. “I was just thinking.”
“Then stop thinking. It’s irritating.”
“I can’t just stop th-” she halted her sentence when Damon shot her a look. “Fine.”
“If there’s anything you want, just say so. You can’t have me picking out everything when you’re the one whose going to wear it.” He said and Sarah smiled a bit. It was in these times that she somehow forgot that he’s ‘supposed’ to be the ruthless Alpha King. She took a glance at the tons of shopping bags he had in his hands and shook her head. What more could she want than all of those?
Mumbling a soft ‘nope’, Sarah moved her eyes away from Damon and rotated it around the mall. She hadn’t been interested in buying anything in the first place, so all she did was to follow Damon around as he grabbed one of almost everything. As such, she was finally noticing that there weren’t anyone around aside from herself, Damon, and the employees who were practically shaking in their spot, too afraid to even welcome him nor approach him.
“Both humans and werewolves fear me… so they try their best to stay clear of me.” Damon told her, seeming to have read her mind.
Sarah gave him a disbelieving glance. “And I guess that pleases you right?”
“Yes, very much. Fear makes things easier in a way.”
She narrowed her eyes. “You should go out more and socialize. If you do, you’d probably b-”
“I don’t want to hear it.” Damon cut her off dully, swiftly slipping into a store without sparing her a heads up. He was getting irritated with her constant hunt for faults. It seemed as if she wanted him to change himself completely. That was something he couldn’t do.
Sarah closed her mouth and took two steps backwards then stuck her head into the store Damon had entered, her eyes taking a keen glance over the items that they were selling. Her cheeks filled with heat, “You w-want to buy u-underwear?”
Damon nodded stoically as if it wasn’t a big deal, while Sarah on the other hand, was about to explode from where she was standing.
“If you don’t want to, I’ll do the choosing. You can just stay there.” He declared. He wasn’t smiling nor anything but Sarah could easily tell that he was now ‘pumped for it’…. and she definitely wasn’t.
“I don’t think I need any lingerie.” She insisted.
“I think you do.” He didn’t look at her when he spoke, he was too busy sweeping his gaze over the countless displayed underwears.
“These things aren’t even my style!” Sarah kept her foot rooted on the ground, adamant not to take another step further inside. The embarrassment would be too great. Why did he have to shop for lingerie of all things?! There’s literally a million other things that he could’ve bought, things which weren’t so… embarrassing.
And based on what she was seeing, almost all of these underwears barely had any space to hold her ass much less down there. The panties were literally a little piece of string! And the few that looked pretty decent when compared to the others, were the ones that Damon blatantly chose to ignore.
With her face still covered in red, Sarah spun around to let her back face the store so that Damon wouldn’t spot the slight quirk of her lips. “Do whatever you want then.” She mumbled, pressing herself against the glass wall. If he wanted to choose what underwear she wore then fine. Besides, the fact that he actually showed interest in such things made her feel inexplicably nice inside.
He hadn’t touched her after that one time when she was in heat and all her hope was slowly getting severed day by day. All they had done was kiss once a while and other than that, there were no other sexual interactions.
She already knew that werewolves were demanding creatures so she kinda expected him to… want her more than he actually does. But seeing as he suddenly decides to chose her underwears, perhaps he wanted to see her in them? And maybe do other things as well?
Sarah shook her head. That was a bit of a stretch, if she thought about it. What was she thinking? This definitely wasn’t like her. Who cared if he didn’t touch her anyway? It’s not like she wanted him to… well maybe she did, but she wasn’t that desperate. If he doesn’t make the first move, she wouldn’t either.
And judging by the way this is going, it seemed like he’d be touching her soon… and she was anticipating that moment… though she didn’t want to admit it.
“Aren’t you done yet?” She called out to him, making the mistake of glancing around only to see him hoisting a red thong in the air. Sarah quickly turned away, her cheeks rejuvenating heat. “I don’t want that!” She protested, holding her head in her hands with her hair falling over the side of her face.
“I want to see you wearing it.” Damon’s voice resounded close to her… too close for her liking.
Sarah jerked, startled by both his proximity and the air from his parted lips that fanned her cheek. She had no idea when he moved. She hadn’t even heard his footsteps!
“W-What?” She stammered, her hands swooping down so that her fingers could do the usual fiddling as nervousness overrode her.
Damon lifted her chin and held up the thong in front of her face. Sarah’s eyes widened and she quickly tried to yank herself out of his hold but to no avail. His grip was too firm for her to break out of it.
“I said I want to see you wearing it…. tonight.” He repeated.
“T-tonight?” Sarah’s cheeks got impossibly darker, her body stiffening as a rush of heat surged through her being and delved into the pit of her core. She took the risk of looking up at him then quickly dropped her gaze when she saw the knowing look on his face.
Damon took one step to the side, coming face to face with her. “I can smell your arousal.” He declared bluntly, moving his hands to tuck her hair behind her ear. “I see you still get flustered whenever I touch you… that still hasn’t changed.” His fingers glazed over her earlobe and danced along her frail skin, meeting with the nape of her neck. “But I like it.”
Sarah couldn’t be anymore embarrassed. This was what she wanted… him to finally look at her as if he wanted her. But in broad daylight? With people watching them? That wasn’t exactly her cup of tea. Even if there weren’t a lot, they still counted as people. And what made it worse was that there was one specific person who didn’t even try to hide the fact that she was watching.
Everything she wore was red… including her tight-fitted dress, shoes, pouch, earring and lipstick. To put it simply, she looked beautiful. She was obviously the kind of woman who always stands out amongst others. She had long curvy hair that was dyed nicely in several colours, plump cheeks that went well with the shape of her face and beautiful blue eyes.
So when Damon made the move to kiss her, Sarah tucked her lips between her teeth and turned her head to the side, stopping his advancement. “T-There’s someone w-watching.” She mumbled, side-eying him warily. Damon was surely frowning, but she couldn’t possibly let him do as he wanted when there was someone literally staring right at them.
Damon’s eyebrows drew together, irritation forging in his eyes. “Who would dare?” Releasing her of his touch, he turned around and navigated his glaring eyes towards the woman, but when he caught sight of her, she was already turning around and getting ready to walk away.
Even though she was standing at a far distance, his enhanced sight could make out the side of her face almost perfectly… and therefore, the familiarity that sprang forth could not have been mistaken. That woman… was her. He was sure of it.
Sarah blinked as she stared at Damon’s back. He had turned around with fire in his eyes, so she expected him to actually do something about that creepy woman, but instead, he had been standing silently for far too long. Without noticing the way his shoulders were tensed, Sarah took two steps forward and stopped when her feet were inline with his. “What a-”
“Katie?”
Sarah stopped her words when Damon’s whisper caught her attention. Katie? She followed his gaze to the woman in red that was walking towards the opposite direction. He knows her?
“Who’s Katie?” Sarah poked him on the shoulder and looked up at him expectantly. But a second later, she was struck with surprise when he shook her hand off him and began to step off, his eyes solely focused on the retreating woman.
“Stay here.” With that command left in the air, Damon’s steps turned into a jog and before long, he was out of sight, leaving a confused Sarah standing in the middle of a place she barely knew.
She didn’t move a muscle. She wasn’t sure what exactly was going on but for some reason, her chest felt as if it was going to explode. The only thing she knew about it all, was that he was after the woman who’s name was apparently Katie.
“Katie?” Sarah tested the name on her tongue and a few seconds later, she realized it’s familiarity. Katie was that woman… the woman who Liam spoke of and she was also the same woman who was in the photo… the one who was capable of making Damon look like a totally different version of himself.
