Olivia
I opened my eyes and saw outside was already dark. I saw the television was off already. I guessed Blake had come home and turned it off for me. I wondered where he was.
Until I smelled something burn…and toasty?
I looked at the door and moved my body to the edge of the bed. I reached for my wheelchair and pulled it towards me. I lowered my feet carefully and stood with one foot then sat on the chair. Pushing it towards the door and opened it where I could smell something burning clearly. “Blake?” I called out since I literally saw some smokes. Is there fire down there? “Blake?” I called again.
“Yes, sweetie?” he finally responded.
“Is there any fire downstairs?”
“No, no, no. Everything’s fine, baby.” Really? “Just wait in your room. I’ll be up in a minute,” he said. I turned back to the bedroom because I couldn’t exactly go down with the chair. I closed the door and reached the bed, returning to the top slowly.
“What’s he doing anyway?” I asked and after waited a couple of minutes later, Blake came back and he looked…ashamed and disappointed. His eyes were not on me. “Is something wrong?” He didn’t respond and only stood at the door. I lowered my eyes and found his hand was holding a plate. A black one on top of it. Ah, that must be the source of the burning thing.
“I, uh, I was trying to cook something for you since you said you wanted a salmon,” he explained as my mouth was slightly opened, surprised that Blake was cooking. Blake Morgan was cooking for me. I didn’t mean to be rude but Blake was suck at cooking.
“Why didn’t you just order it?”
“I wanted to do something by myself for you. I’ve promised to take care of you and I wanted to do everything by myself. At least in cooking.” I was touched by his action. I never thought Blake would do that for me.
I smiled at him. “Blake, come here.” He walked to me slowly, like he was hesitating as I thought he was overly cute. He stood next to me where my eyes found the toasty salmon. It was literally black, all of them. Poor salmon. None of us could eat that.
I looked up at him and opened my arms. “Come closer.” And Blake did as I wrapped my arms around his waist. “Thank you, baby. For doing that but you don’t need to do something that you know is not your element.”
“I was thinking of the future. At least I need to know how to work around the kitchen. All I can do is arranging tables or making coffee and toast. Even sometimes I burned them. I think the kitchen hates me.”
I laughed. That was too funny. “Next time, you have to take me with you so I could show you how to use the equipment.”
“I think I’m going to do that,” he said and wrapped one arm of him around me and kissed my head. “I’ll go order something.”
“I don’t mind with some pizza. We could cook the salmon tomorrow. How many did you buy?”
“Around five pounds of the fillet.” What?
“That’s too much!” I said while chuckling. “And how many did you burned?”
This time, Blake was pausing a bit before answering. “Almost all of them. I think I left two or three pieces of fillet in the fridge.”
“Well then, I’ll show you how to cook it tomorrow.”
In the end, we ordered some pizza and ate it in his bedroom while watching Netflix Lucifer. It was a great series and I enjoyed it. Lucifer was hot and funny. He looked so cute when he was jealous. And I just realized the female protagonist’s name was the same as my mother’s. Chloe. A mother with a daughter. She worked hard for her little girl, just like mine. I knew this was just a movie but I hoped she would stay alive and healthy for her daughter’s sake.
Once we were done eating, Blake grabbed the box. “I’ll put it inside the fridge. Don’t forget to drink your medicine,” he said and left the room. I grabbed the mountain of medicines and a glass of water. Drinking them one by one.
Blake returned and I said, “I want to shower.”
“Sure. I’ll help you.” He picked me up and brought me to his bathroom. He sat me on the toilet seat first and helped me take off my clothes and grabbed the waterproof cast protector. He put it on my leg and then put me inside the tub. “I’ll be careful.”
“I trust you. The nurse has explained to you how to bathe me, right?” He only smiled and he took the towel, wet it with warm water, and started to wash me.
Blake was being so gentle to me. Because of my broken ribs and leg, I couldn’t do the shower for at least six to eight weeks. That was a bummer but I had to hold it back for now. I turned to Blake who was sitting at the edge of the tub as his eyes found me and he smiled again. “Why are you looking at me?”
“Don’t blame yourself anymore, Blake.” He stopped his movement and lost his smile. “I thought that you’re still blaming yourself for what happened to me. Because Carol wanted you—”
“Stop,” he demanded. It was soft yet hinted a dangerous tone. “Don’t say that name. I don’t want her to disturb our moment. And for the record, I thought you will be blaming yourself. You think that you should just leave me when you had the chance.”
I smirked. “Well, I was thinking about that before but it doesn’t matter. You will find me anyway.”
“You’re damn right. I might have to spank your cute little ass until red so you can’t walk anymore.” Oh, boy. Here we go again.
“And I don’t want to give you away to her. I know Carol isn’t in love with you, and now I know her past, maybe that’s the reason.”
“I agreed. At some point, I pitied her, but the fact that she almost killed you won’t change.”
“And that’s why you wanted her to be handled by the best therapist while her father paid for his sin in jail.” Blake nodded his head as I laid my head on his thigh. “You are a good man, Blake. Yet you covered it perfectly behind your dark and stoic face.”
“People don’t need to see the good in me and I don’t really care what they’re talking or thinking about me.” That was very typical of him as Blake rubbed my naked shoulder. “You’re so beautiful, Olivia. Both body and heart. You could be a nasty kitten and put Carol straight to jail yet you asked me to do the right and not caused any more harm to her.”
“She needs help, Blake so maybe one day she could be reborn into the new Carol. Some patients with mental issues were like that.”
“I wanted to say that’s ridiculous but if you’re the one who said it, it might come true.” I chuckled at his words. I looked up to him as both of us were looking at each other’s eyes. He leaned down and captured my lips where I immediately responded. Welcoming his wet and hot tongue inside my mouth. “You’re fucking punishing me, little girl.”
Oh, I knew what he meant already. “Why?” But I still had the nerve to asked him.
“I can’t fuck you stupid for being vulnerable like this.”
“Well, you were able to hold yourself back before for five years. You’re only going to endure it for another eight weeks.” And this time, he laughed. I followed as well.
“I underestimated you but you’re right but you should be ready when you’re fully healed, Olivia. Because I’m not going to hold back on you. You won’t be able to walk the next day.”
I giggled. “I can’t wait.”
“You asked for it.”
And he sealed his promise with his kisses.
