Olivia
It’d been a week since I was hospitalized. I would be going home today. With Blake for sure. He would be taking care of me at his house for a while. He practically begged my parents. Begged not ordered. Such a rare thing for him to do but he did.
My broken ribs had started to heal but I shouldn’t be moving around a lot for a while. My broken leg as well, I had to use a cast, and doing some therapy so I could walk properly again.
Overall, I was okay but not entirely.
In the end, the Doctor managed to tell me about my miscarriage. It was sad and painful when I heard it directly from Doctor Chang but I had the right to know. I wanted to cry but not a single tear escaped my eyes. Maybe I was too shocked but I didn’t know. Maybe it was not meant to be. For now.
Blake was being super caring to me. He was caring but he gave me extra attention while in the hospital. He never went to the office, only working beside me. He asked John to take care of the business. Along with my stay in the hospital, Josh came with Paula, Karen’s parents also visited me, Javier too. Sometimes John came during his lunch break. Cindy always stayed by my side along with Blake. And I…had finally met their parents.
I had to admit that their parents were handsome and beautiful. I saw them twice before. At dad’s wedding and Blake’s party. I never talked to them at the wedding because I was too busy avoiding their son. They were…very nice to me. They knew my relationship with their son yet they didn’t treat me differently. I instantly loved them. After all, they were the parents who saved Blake from the darkness of his childhood.
I was currently waiting for Doctor Chang to finally released me. I had changed my clothes and Cindy was handling all my stuff. Dad and Blake were downstairs to pay the bill. Blake had a fight with dad yesterday, arguing about the payment. Dad wanted to pay because I was his daughter but Blake insisted saying the accident happened because of him. He wanted to take responsibility. In the end, they split it half and half. Blake wanted to pay for everything but dad felt guilty if he did that.
“Alright, all done!” Cindy said and turned to me. She walked to me and held my hands. “I’m so relieved you’re finally coming home. Well, although you will be staying with Blake for a while.”
“Well, it’s useless to argue with him anyway.”
“Agree.”
Cindy looked at me again and she smiled. She sat next to me while looking down at the floor. “You know? When Blake informed me the day the accident happened; I thought my heart had stopped beating. I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t want to believe it. That was a terrible joke or I was having a nightmare. Although you’re not my flesh and blood, you are my daughter. I love you like you are my real one.”
“Cindy…”
“I even prayed not just to God but to Chloe as well, begging to not take you away from me. I haven’t shown you what I can do as a mother. I wanted to see you grow up, graduate, got married, having a family of your own, something that Chloe never had the chance before.” Her words touched my heart. I could see Cindy was ready to cry as I touched her shoulder so she would see me. Her brown eyes were red, ready to spill.
“I’m sorry for making you worried.”
Cindy shook her head. “It’s not your fault, sweetheart.” She looked at my eyes. “Blake told me everything. You were trying to save him. Although I don’t want to say this but Carol deserves everything,” she stated where I smiled weakly.
Blake told me as well.
He reported the accident to the polices, even showing the footage of her pushing me to the street and hit by the car. For now, she had proven guilty. As well as her father for stealing money from Blake also…for having an incest relationship with her daughter.
I was shocked when I heard that from Blake. Maybe that was the result of Carol being like this. I pitied her but she had to accept the consequences of her doing. Blake said she might be not going to jail but to the mental hospital. Having some therapy to overcome her biggest trauma while her father would go straight to jail.
“Actually…I pity her,” Cindy suddenly said. “Her father couldn’t overcome his wife’s death and he let out his sadness to his daughter. He made an illusion that his wife was still alive while seeing Carol. And he still did it even when his daughter has grown up. But that’s not sadness anymore, it’s just pure lust.”
“I think you’re right.” And maybe rather than having another woman in his bed, it was best for him that he had his daughter instead. “That’s why I was scared of having a relationship with Blake. His business would be ruined if the world found out,” I said but Cindy only smiled and wrapped her arm around my shoulder, pulling me closer.
“Trust him, Olivia. He will not disappoint you.”
“I know.”
And by the time the guys came back. Dad stepped in first and then followed by Blake. He looked at me and wrinkled his eyebrows watching me on Cindy’s hold. “What’s going on?”
Cindy let me go and winked her eyes at me and turned to her brother. “Girls’ secret,” she playfully said.
Blake scoffed and he went to me. Standing next to me and asked, “Has the Doctor came to let her go already?”
“You’re saying like she’s being held as hostage here,” Cindy sarcastically said. “Anyway, the Doctor hasn’t arrived yet to tell you the good news but he will discharge her today. He already checked Olivia this morning and she’s ready to go home.”
“Good.” Blake leaned forward and kissed my head. I saw Cindy was looking at us.
“You can’t do anything to her for a while, Blake,” she jokingly said.
“Cindy!” dad scolded and I could feel my cheeks warmed up.
“I won’t do anything to her. Not when she’s being vulnerable.” I could catch the meaning of Blake’s words.
After we lost our baby, Blake won’t dare to have sex with me unprotected. And with my current wounds, he won’t dare to touch me now. I too was not ready to do anything sexually for now. I was still mourning my loss.
Half an hour later, Doctor Chang finally came just for a final check and stated that I could go home. Blake picked me up to sat me in the wheelchair and pushed me out of the room. We arrived at the entrance and parted with my parents.
“Let us know if you need anything, Blake,” Cindy said.
“Sure.” Both siblings hugged each other as dad leaned down to kiss my forehead.
“You don’t need to worry about your school. I already let them know about your current condition,” he stated where I only smiled.
Blake took me to his car which was already being parked in the lobby. He picked me up and carried me to the back passenger’s seat so I could straighten my legs. He grabbed the wheelchair my luggage and put it on the trunk and then went to his door. He drove straight to his home. “What do you want to eat later?” he asked.
“Anything will do.”
He exhaled and looked at me through the rear-view mirror. “Specific, please.”
“Um, seafood? Like salmon will be nice.”
He nodded his head. “Salmon, then. I’ll buy some for you later.”
We arrived at his house and after Blake turned off the engine, he walked out and picked me up slowly and carefully, and carried me to the house. He entered and immediately brought me to his bedroom. He put me on the bed and kissed my forehead. Blake directed his blue eyes on me and said, “I’ll be back soon.”
“Okay.” He walked out of the room and returned a few minutes later with my luggage and wheelchair.
“Do you want to watch some movie while I’m going out?”
“Where do you want to go?”
“Well, you said you wanted salmon so I should buy some now.” Oh.
“Well then, I’m going to watch some Netflix while waiting for you,” I said and he turned on his forty-two inches flat-screen television. He turned to me and sat next to me.
“Call me if you need anything.” I smiled, nodding my head, and he kissed me. He patted my thighs and he stood up to walk out of the bedroom. I immediately set my eyes on the television, looking for some interesting movies or series to watch.
But I didn’t need much time as my eyes became heavy and closed it. Taking me straight to the dream world.
