Blake
I was so fucking relieved.
Olivia…my woman had finally opened her beautiful eyes.
I couldn’t say anything.
I couldn’t think straight.
My focuses were on her, entirely.
Olivia was smiling warmly at me. I saw her raising her hand where I immediately held it and pushed myself to her. Kissing her softly and sweetly, like she should be. I was trying to make sure if this was real. Olivia was truly awakened. This was not a dream.
Once I felt her warm lips; I knew this was real. “Blake, everyone is here,” she said as I opened my eyes and looked straight to her brown eyes.
“I don’t care. They knew already.” She only smiled. God, that smile. “You made me worry, little girl.”
“Well, I was disappointed because you’re not here when I woke up.” Those words kicked my gut hard. Now I felt guilty.
“I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay. I think I had an idea where you went.” I didn’t say anything and merely looking at her. Of course, she knew.
“Blake?” I heard Cindy called me and I slightly turned back to her. “Doctor Chang is on his way here to check on her,” she stated and I nodded my head. Returning my attention to my girl, I placed another kiss on her forehead and sat beside her.
A few minutes later, Doctor Chang came and immediately checked on Olivia. Asking how she was feeling, if she remembered the accident which she was, clearly. He told us that her condition was good, everything, except for her broken leg and ribs for sure. He managed to glance at me and skipped the part of her had a miscarriage. He suggested therapy for her but she should stay in the hospital for another week just in case. I wanted to disagree with that. I could take care of her but maybe it was best if the hospital took care of her first and then it would be my turn.
Doctor Chang left the room. It’s my time.
“Guys, sorry? Could you give us some privacy for a moment?” I asked my family.
“Sure, Blake,” Taylor replied and escorted Cindy and Eric also my parents out of the room. They left quietly and left us alone.
I sat back beside Olivia and held her hand. “Are you alright, baby?”
“I am. I told the Doctor the same thing.”
I chuckled. “You’re right.” And I rubbed her hand. I swallowed and said, “You have no idea of how worried I was, Olivia. How shocked I was during the accident.”
“Don’t remember it anymore, Blake.”
“I can’t. I thought my heart had stopped.” The more I tried to forget the accident, the more I remembered everything clearly like it still happened in front of me. Repeating it like a broken record.
“Did you think that I’m going to die?”
“Never. You know how I work. I won’t let you die and leave me alone. If you died, I will soon follow. I couldn’t bear living in this world without you.”
She chuckled softly. “That’s sweet but creepy at the same time.”
“I agree.” And we went silent. I was thinking about whether I should tell her or not. About the baby. I could lie but I knew I couldn’t lie to her. I was about to open my mouth until her voice stopped me.
“Blake?” she called but she was looking in front of her. “Is there something you wanted to talk to me about?” Oh, shit.
“What?”
“You asked our family to leave us so I thought there should be something important you wanted to talk about with me,” she said. Fuck, my woman knew me very well. Too well. This was why I couldn’t lie to her. She could read my emotion easily like how effortlessly I read her.
“Olivia, there’s something you should know but I ask you to not blame yourself because it was never your fault,” I said, and then she smirked. Confusing me as she set her eyes on me. Still maintaining that smile. And her next words…just broke my heart into pieces.
“I lost it, didn’t I?” I was stunned. I took a better look at her. She was smiling yet it was her sad smile, something that I refused to see from her. I couldn’t speak. “Would you grab my bag, please?” she asked and I let her hand go.
I went to the sofa bed and grabbed the bag then returned to her. “Take out the white box.” I pushed my hand inside and pulled out a small white box wrapped with a yellow ribbon. My heart suddenly beat fast and I turned to Olivia where she was still maintaining her smile. “Open it.” I swallowed hard. I knew that I won’t like what was inside this damn box but I did it anyway. I pulled the ribbon, loosened it, and fell to the floor. I opened it and that was when my heart…had stopped completely.
I looked back at her and she was still smiling. What the fuck was she smiling about? Fuck this, maybe I should just mutilate that bitch into pieces.
A pregnancy test showing positive result with a card stating:
Surprise! You’re going to be a dad. See you in nine months, daddy.
“I wanted to give it to you on your birthday but I was too late.” Her voice when she said that sounded so broken yet she didn’t cry. I couldn’t fucking believe she just said that while maintaining that smile of hers. Just fucking cry already! I knew she was heartbroken but I was expecting her to cry. At least show something but Olivia didn’t. And because of that, I was the one who showing my emotion.
I kneeled and grabbed her hand. “I’m so sorry, baby. I couldn’t protect you and our baby. It’s my fault.”
“It’s not, Blake. It was Carol. She pushed me, and our baby was my payment. My ticket out of heaven. I was sent back to this world while our baby flies happily to heaven.” Her words broke me even more. I knew Olivia was strong yet her strength managed to make me fucking cry. It was fucking embarrassing for me to show my tears in front of the woman I loved but I couldn’t hold back anymore. “I wanted to rub your hair but my left ribs are hurting me and I can’t turn my body to you. But please, don’t blame yourself.”
“Damn it, Olivia!” I slumped my head to the mattress. Crying myself out.
“I admitted, Blake. It was hurt and painful to learned that I lost our baby.”
“How did you know it?”
“Well, mother’s instinct, perhaps? Maybe it sounds weird since the baby wasn’t even a month old but I felt different. Like there was no other soul inside me.” I knew it. “But we have to continue living, right? We should honor our baby by doing that. We might stumble on something but we have to live our life to the fullest. So, Blake? Please don’t hurt Carol anymore.” My eyes widened and looked at her. “I know you’re dealing with her. With your power, she couldn’t get away that easily. And the reason you were away when I opened my eyes, I know you were with her.”
“Olivia…”
“You know, before I woke up, I dreamed of my mother. She’s telling me to open my eyes and stop your madness. To stop you from turning into a murderer.” I was looking at her, thinking that even Chloe hated me for hurting Carol. Like mother like daughter. “You should do the right thing, Blake. To not hurt her anymore. Let justice do its works.”
To be honest, I never thought Olivia would say that. I knew she hated violence. Even when she was badmouthed by someone, bullied, attacked, she never asked them to be hurt ten times worse than her. She believed in karma and Carol deserved to be punished. Not by my hands, but by law. Something that I never thought of because it would take too long for Carol to received what she deserved by hurting Olivia. I wanted her to suffer even more than what Olivia had gone through.
Oh, well.
I smiled lightly and leaned forward to kiss her. “You’re too kind for your own good.”
“People said the same thing about me.”
I chuckled and placed another kiss on her lips. “Get some rest, baby. I’ll be back soon.” I stood up and put the box on the table.
“I want to bring that home. I wanted to keep it as a memory.” Again, it pained my heart but I managed to push a smile on my face. Very typical of her. Although we lost it, the baby used to be the part of her and she didn’t want his or her memory to be gone from her. I arranged the box again so it would look proper and walked out of the room, finding Cindy, Taylor, and my parents outside.
Their eyes were on me. “She knew already before I could tell her.” I looked at Cindy and her eyes were watery. She came to me and touched my elbow.
“She’ll make it.”
“She’s too strong, Cindy.”
She smiled lightly. “She has grown into a fine woman, Blake. She would be a good mother one day.” I could only smile. The four of them entered Olivia’s room again where I pulled out my phone.
I dialed John’s number and he picked it up immediately. “How are they?”
He smirked through the phone. “Javier and I had to step put because those three guys practically did a foursome already. Right after you walked out. Dean is crying in the corner watching his daughter having fun. He’s still sobbing right now if you could hear it.” I scoffed. “How’s Olivia, sir?”
“She’s fine and she knew about the baby.”
“Oh, fuck.”
“Yeah, fuck.”
You should do the right thing, Blake. To not hurt her anymore. Let justice do its works.
I knew Dean would do anything in his power and money so Carol would be free. I knew about her history, her trauma, something that caused her to be like this. Dean was responsible for it and Carol had to pay for his sins.
I had decided. I’m doing the right thing for you, baby.
“John?”
“Yes, sir?”
“Tell the police what Carol and Dean have done to my family and let the law take care of them.”
