Lucifer’s Mate: (Enemies To Lovers Werewolf Romance Series Book 4)
❤️ Adalinda ❤️
Adalinda’s good eye twitched a little as she looked at him, he was towering over her.
“You’ve grown a lot Dark,” Adalinda said as she walked backwards, putting space between them. “The last time I saw you was when you were like this.” she added gesturing with one of her hands to her shoulder level.
“What do you say about Hydra?” Dark asked.
“You took my eye away Dark, that isn’t acceptable.” Adalinda began. “Taking my eye isn’t what hurt me, but what hurt me the most was you giving my eye to this Witch who isn’t worth it.”
“You put me in a cage Adalinda, locked me out for some days without food or water until your friend Amaya freed me.”
“You were angry with me, at everything and I had to lock you up, the affairs of the kingdom made me forget about you until Amaya freed you,” Adalinda said. “I will never kill your mother, she willingly gave me the throne because she knows how capable I was in ruling the kingdom. She couldn’t walk, hence her passing the throne to me, besides she doesn’t want to fight with me.”
“I know you didn’t kill my mother.”
“You may find this hard to believe but me and your mother were close, very close but the only thing that drifted us apart was the throne but still yet, that wouldn’t make me hurt her.” Adalinda said as she remembers the night of the coronation after Zelina had crowned her the Queen of dragons.
Flashbacks:
Adalinda and Hydra were in her room discussing how their father wasn’t happy with the sudden change and her new husband, it was late at night but both girls didn’t care. A knock sounded on the door and immediately she knew who it was.
Zelina wheeled her wooden wheelchair inside in smiles and went to meet Adalinda.
Adalinda who was sitting down on her bed stood up to face Zelina.
“I did what I had to do because I know you are worthy of the throne Adalinda, even if I was able to walk, the throne could still have been yours,” Zelina said to her, her smiles not waving away from her beautiful face one bit. “Now that you are the Queen, can we stop this fight that is going on between us? Let’s go back to the way we were before.” she added with a stretch hand towards Adalinda.
It was at that moment Adalinda who had been frowning smiled at Zelina and shook hands with her.
“I will see you tomorrow,” Zelina said and bid both her sisters a good night and left Adalinda’s room.
“I thought you said you were going to kill her, don’t tell me you already have a change of mind?” Hydra said once Zelina was out of earshot.
“I can’t kill my blood Hydra, I can only threaten her but not carry out the threat because we are sisters. Besides, what’s the need of shedding blood when she already gave me the throne that was causing our fight.” Adalinda told her and raised an eyebrow at Hydra. “Do you plan to kill her?” She asked casually.
“No, how can I kill her or plan it when we protect each other.” Hydra laughed. “Take a good look at me Adalinda, do I look like someone who could stand a chance against you and Zelina?”
Adalinda laughed slightly and lightly, being the Queen of all dragon’s has lessened the hatred she had for Zelina. “You cannot hurt a fly Hydra, you are one of a special kind and keep it up.” She told Hydra. “For Zelina, as long as she is within this palace or kingdom, no harm shall come to her. Nothing can escape me.”
“What about her beauty? Don’t you feel jealous that the men coming here are coming here because of her.” Hydra tried again.
“True, I do feel a little bit jealous but other than that I’m okay besides we both have something she doesn’t have.”
“We do? What can that be?” Hydra asks.
“She can’t walk, she will do anything for her to walk.” Adalinda answered not noticing the evil glint in Hydra eyes which vanished quickly.
End Of Flashbacks:
“I know you wouldn’t hurt her, that’s why I saved you instead of killing you when I got the chance.” Dark voice brought her back to reality.
Adalinda blinked her eyes a multiple times to clear the old memories. She was so blind not to notice Hydra’s true color. The girl who couldn’t hurt a single fly turns out to be a betrayal and killer.
“How do you know I didn’t hurt Zelina?”
“Her dead eyes told me everything I needed to know, that’s how I know where to find you. I was angry at you for not going in search of Zelina when you know she left the kingdom with Hydra and those stupid friends of hers.”
“If you were in my shoes, Dark, you would understand that Hydra is very manipulative and she has carefully calculated her plans well, besides,” Adalinda stopped to breathe in and out before continuing. “It was your mother’s fault, what happened to her wouldn’t have happened if she was okay with her not walking, she has the looks, and the throne which she gave to me and people who love her. Men traveled to our kingdom just to get a glimpse of her, shouldn’t that be enough for her? She believed the cunning Hydra who played the part of being a harmless sister.” Thinking about Hydra angers her.
Dark couldn’t argue with her because somehow she was telling the truth.
“About your eye, I had to remove it to stop the poison from affecting you and she,” Dark said and pointed at the Witch Queen, “Happens to be visiting your kingdom and you did that to her eye, luckily for me my darkness was there to stop you from bleeding to death and putting your eye in hers, I was doctor that very day. I promised myself not to come to her until today.” He finished.
“Wait a minute, so you gave me her eye not because of her damaging my own but because it was filled with poison?” The Witch Queen asked with her good eye widened up in surprise. “I could have died!” she yelled out.
“But you didn’t,” Dark said, going to pet her head like a child which shook away his hand with a glare. “You survived the poison.”
“Since Hydra is alive, why don’t you kill her yourself, you are capable of doing that.” The Witch Queen said once her anger was gone. She was alive and that’s what matters.
“No, I will be the one who ends her. I will kill her with my hands.” Adalinda growled out remembering how Hydra had played her like a pro. She remembered their last fight and how she destroyed her kingdom, Dark came in time to save her. Her betrayal still stings and the wounds in her heart have refused to heal.
She will make sure she removes Hydra’s traitorous heart from her body as she watches her die.
