Slade Donovan POV
“You did this!” I shouted and I couldn’t recognize the voice as mine as it sounded loud and powerful. I growled and stood up from the ground as I gently lay Gabriella on the ground. “How dare you?” I growled and felt my bone crack as I shifted into my wolf. Everyone stared in awe as I shifted into a black wolf. The first wolf in a thousand years. My wolf stood tall than the average human height at 5Ft 3 inches.
They all gasped and murmured amongst themselves. The only people that didn’t show any sign of surprise were my uncle, kyle, Daphne, and Teale. The rest including Luciana all stared at me like I shouldn’t have existed.
Wolves were known to be extinct after the war but they were all wrong because werewolves could exist again.
The humans and the vampires all moved backward as I stood in the center and growled at all of them. My wolf wanted to spill Luciana’s blood for killing his mate. Killing Luciana will be a simple death because she deserved much worse after all she had done. I was going to give her something worse than death. I lunged at her and slashed her on the back.
Luciana yelled out in pain and fell to the ground. “What…. t are you? How are you a wolf right now?”
How am I a wolf? I bet she didn’t expect to see a wolf in me. How I wished Gabriella could see I was going to tear from limb to limb. I circled her like she was my prey and when she least expected, I jumped on top of her and bare my fangs at her. “Why are you doing this? ” Luciana demanded. “If you want to kill me then do!” She shouted.
Luciana whistled for her vampire’s Minions but none of them answered her. They all trembled when I growled at them. “Cowards!” She shouted at them.
Death will be so easy for someone like her so I had to give her a pain that would slowly kill her. “What are you waiting for? Kill me!” She challenged.
“Kill her!” My wolf shouted in my head and then I leaned in and bite her hard on the neck. Luciana let out a deafening scream and thrash on the ground but I had her hands pinned down with my paws. There was no escape for her. I bite off a chunk of flesh from her neck and spat it out because it’s tasted like decay meat. I jumped down from her body and continue circling her.
No one came to her rescue as they watched as she rolled on the ground
“What…. t did you do?”Luciana choked on her breath as blood spurted out of her neck. ” why I’m I not healing?” She shouted.
“Because he had deposited a huge amount of wolf venom inside of you.” My uncle answered her. He moved closer to her and stoop down to touch her neck and when his hand made contact with Luciana’s neck, he shook his head. “What a large gash!” He exclaimed.
Yes, I bite half of Luciana’s neck off and I wished I had bitten off her head instead. “You will feel an excruciating pain as your blood fights against the venom until your body can’t take the pain again and you die.”
That’s was the only way to deal with the likes of Luciana. Giving her a painless death would mean nothing after she had killed my mate. Wolf’s venom had been known to cause death to vampires in the past because it’s was stronger and kills faster than a vampire’s bite.
“Why?” Luciana yelled and continue rolling on the ground. “Why didn’t you kill me?” She demanded.
My wolf growled at her and moved closer to her and end her pathetic life but I kept my wolf at bay. “That’s enough,” I said to him.
“Vampires are the cause of this. Kill the vampire that killed mate!” My wolf ordered.
His eyes roamed around searching for the vampires that had slit Gabriella’s throat on Luciana’s order. When he couldn’t find them, he moved closer to them and they all drew backward. My wolf sniffed the air for the smell of those who had ended the life of Gabriella. Because of the large crowd, it’s was hard to find them but when he did, he found them hiding behind two humans. My wolf grabbed one of the vampires with its fangs. He dragged him to the center and left him rolling on the ground just like Luciana. Just like Luciana, there was a large gash on his left leg. The vampire screamed out in pain as he had also met its destiny just like Luciana.
My wolf went back to the crowd and did the same thing with the second vampire. He bite both his legs and dragged him to the center for everyone to see. Screams resounded as they cry and begged for help.
“You should have let me tear them limbs from limbs,” My wolf complained.
Depositing the venom inside of them was the best judgment I could give them. The screams of the vampires reduced as they closed their eyes to death. Unlike Luciana who was an older vampire, the newly turned vampires couldn’t survive the wolf’s venom.
Dark blood pooled from the mouth as they closed their eyes and died. Their bodies became paler with dark veins showing on their faces and hands.
“Kill them all. The vampires killed mate! You can’t allow them to live!” My wolf shouted in my head.
He was right. The vampires started the war and they also killed Gabriella. They all deserved to die. My wolf rushed into the crowd and bite one vampire’s throat and another until five vampires fell to the ground dead. My wolf wasn’t satisfied with the few vampires he had killed. He wanted more and so I let him get what he wanted.
Vampires ran when he moved closer to them because he just picked who he want to kill randomly. “That’s enough!” Teale shouted and stood in front of the vampires. Seeing him as a shield, all the vampires gathered behind him.
My wolf growled at him and bared its fangs at him but Teale didn’t budge and remained on a spot like he was challenging my wolf. “I know you are mad about Gabriella’s death but killing the vampires won’t satisfy your hatred. You are killing your kind and as a future king, what would your clan think of you?” Teale asked.
“Who the hell is he? How dares he talk about mate like that?” My wolf yelled in my head.
“I agree with Teale. These vampires were once humans and killing them like this isn’t going to solve anything. Gabriella wouldn’t want this.” Kyle added.
My wolf turned his head and looked towards Gabriella that was now lying in her mother’s arms still looking beautiful as she was when she was alive. I was never going to hear her ranting again and I was never going to kiss or touch her beautiful face again. This was all because of the vampires.
I was going to kill everyone and no one was going to stop me. I growled out loud and lunged at Teale him down. “Kill him! ” my wolf ordered. “He mocked mate!”
I jumped on top of him and slashed his chest with my claws. “Killing me isn’t going to sort this!” Teale shouted at me. “Zepeda and Xavier who are both behind this have ton away but you are killing harmless vampires who acted on Luciana’s command.
“Stop challenging me!” I wanted to shout at him but I couldn’t. I didn’t want my wolf to kill him but he was pushing my wolf on the Edge. “Stop it!”
“Gabriella wouldn’t want this and you know this Slade!” Teale managed to say.
My wolf growled at him and jumped off him then he jumped on him again. He repeated the routine thrice and I knew if I didn’t stop him, he would bite Teale exposing him to the wolf’s venom. Teale was going to die, vampire or not, no one can survive a wolf’s venom.
“Stop it!” I shouted and shifted back to myself. I wasn’t not going to let my wolf kill people who didn’t deserve to die. I fell to the ground and burst into tears. I was stark naked but I didn’t care. All I could think of was Gabriella’s beautiful face.
Kyle helped Teale from the ground and when I turned to look at him, I muttered a word of apology to him.
“There is a way to save Gabriella.” Uncle martin draped a blanket around my body. “She can be saved.”
“How?” I questioned him.
“By turning her into a werewolf. She will become the second werewolf and the first female werewolf.”
I heaved a sigh and ruffled my hair. “Are you saying this because you want wolves to multiply in numbers?” I inquired. I was sure my uncle had other motives but if it’s was the only way to save Gabriella, I’ll do it in a heartbeat.
“Think of whatever you want Slade. But if you don’t follow my order, your wolf will go on about killing every vampire and the war will start all over again.”
I closed my eyes and thought about it. Maybe saving Gabriella wasn’t going to be bad after all. “What do I need to do?” I questioned.
“You can start by taking my hand,” he offered his hand and I grabbed onto it. He pulled me up and embraced me in a tight hug. “This war would soon end.” He said.
I hope so.
