Slade Donovan POV
“Listen, Everyone!” I shouted on top of my voice. “If we all want this war to end then listen to the offer that I’ll give you,” I said.
They all started murmuring and when I had enough Of it, I shouted at them. “Enough!” I yelled and pointed towards Luciana. “To the vampires, if you don’t want to end up like her or those vampires,” I pointed to the dead vampires on the ground. “You will listen to every of my command and to the humans, If you don’t want to die like,” I pointed towards Gabriella. “You will listen to me. I am going to end this long war that had made all creatures turn against each other.” I paused for a while and looked into the faces of everyone. They all listened to me with rapt attention and I forced a smile on my face.
That’s was a good sign.
“To those who started this little battle, you will be taken to the cell and the newly vampires acting on Her orders,” I pointed towards Luciana. “You will be pardoned and given a second chance.”
The newly turned vampires all fell to their knees and echoed my name. “Long live the crown prince!” They all chanted.
The other vampires that were invited to the castle by my father all began to murmur amongst themselves. They all deserved every punishment that I was planning on delivering on them. My father had trusted them but they had betrayed his trust and killed him. I wasn’t going to pardon them for their sins. No of them deserved a second chance. “To the humans!” I shouted to stop the vampire’s murmurings. “From this instance until I make new rules, the humans are hereby free from slavery. Announce it to everyone until I have made a new rule!”
The announcement caused a loud uproar amongst the humans. They all cheered happily and embraces themselves. “Good choice son,” Uncle Martin said to me.
“Sure. I hope Gabriella would wake up again.” I walked towards where Gabriella laid in her mother’s arm and bend to carry her. “Melissa, I am going to save your daughter,” I promised her.
“Thank you, my son,” Melissa sniffled and touched her daughter’s face one final time. “Gabriella will be so happy that you’ve lifted the slave rule.” Melissa stood up for the ground and pat me on the shoulder. “Please save my daughter. I hope she would be able to see that the world had changed. It has always been her dream.”
I nodded in response and walked towards the castle with Teale and Daphne trailing behind me while my uncle and Kyle addressed the humans and vampires. “I hope this works,” I said to Teale and looked into Gabriella’s face.
“I hope so too,” Teale answered back.
With Gabriella in my arms, I headed towards my room and when I got there, I instructed Daphne to get a physician while I laid Gabriella on the bed. I draped a blanket over her body and sat beside her. “Please wake up Gabriella and let’s build this new world together.” I kissed her hands and proceed to place a kiss on her forehead. “I love you Gabriella and I hope you can wake up and say that to me again.”
Teale placed a hand on my shoulder and squeezed it gently. “Gabriella is tough and strong.” He chuckled. “But if Gabriella wakes up, she won’t be pleased to see you with nothing but a blanket.”
I chuckled and playfully slapped Teale on the chest. How does he make a joke in a terrible situation? Taking his advice, I stood up from the bed and walked towards my closet. Picking a random white shirt and black trousers, I wore them and made my way back to the room.
“He is here,” Daphne’s voice sounded from outside the room as the door clicked open and she entered with the physician.
“Your highness,” The physician bowed his head as he made his way into the room.
“I found the rest of the doctors dead. They were stabbed on the heart.” Daphne explained.
“Luciana, that bitch,” I cursed angrily and balled my hand into a fist.
“She is right. I was able to escape by staying in my home and when I heard the announcement, I came out and came to the royal clinic, there she found me.” The physician explained.
“What is your name?” Teale asked.
“I am Frank, your highness.”
“Frank, I need you to help me check her,” I pointed to Gabriella. “She is dead but will she survive the bite of a werewolf? ” I questioned.
Frank shook terribly and fell on his knees. “So the rumors were true. You are the first werewolf after so many years!” He bowed his head. “I am glad I got to see a wolf before I died.”
I didn’t care about any of that. I wanted to find out if Gabriella would survive if I bite her. She has been dead for hours and I have never heard of a case In the past where a dead human was revived with a werewolf bite after hours of death. “I need to know If my mate would survive!” I growled at him.
That’s wasn’t me. It’s must have been my wolf who was on the edge of losing a mate. “Check if my mate will survive the bite.”
“I apologize, your highness,” Frank apologized and move towards Gabriella. His hands shook terribly as he failed to grab Gabriella’s hand.
“Stop shaking like a fool!” I shouted at him.
“Calm down Slade. You are scaring him!” Teale said. He grabbed my hand and smiled at me. “Gabriella will be fine.” He assured me.
“I hope so.”
Frank apologized and grabbed Gabriella’s hand. “Her cold hands mean she’s been dead for hours.”
“I know. Is there something I should know? ”
Frank heaved a sigh but didn’t say anything. He opened Gabriella’s eyes and checked behind her ears. His hands went down to her stomach. As his hand made contact with her stomach, I growled at him and he jumped in fright. “I am checking to see if there is …..” He paused.
“What going on?” I asked.
Frank didn’t say anything and continued checking her stomach. “Tell me!” I yelled, my patience was wearing out and I could kill him without blinking an eye if he should taste my patience.
“I….. This is amazing!” Frank smiled at me.
Why was he smiling? Did he find a way? Or does it mean that Gabriella could be saved?
“What is going on?” I asked him. “Tell me!” I shouted yet again.
“Your highness! This is great news,” Frank said. “She died with babies but the….”
“Babies?” I couldn’t believe what I heard. How could Gabriella be pregnant and I won’t even know? How was that possible? Not even one but two babies.
I grabbed Frank’s clothe and dragged him closer to me. “What are you saying? Are you sure of what you just said?” I asked him and he nodded in response. “You better not be lying to me!”
“Yes, your highness. It’s a miracle because the babies are perfectly okay. They are still alive…”
I let go of the physician’s clothe and fell to the ground. Gabriella was pregnant and I didn’t know. How could that have happened? I buried my head in my hand and cried out. “How could I have not noticed!” I cried.
“Slade,” Teale touched my shoulder and tried to pull me up but I refused. “None of this is your fault.”
“Everything that had happened is my fault,” I argued. If I had known that she was pregnant, I wouldn’t have let her come with me. I would have let her stay in the cave until the fight was over.
“What you are doing right now will risk her life the more!”Teale shouted at me. ” didn’t you hear what the physician had said?” He shouted.
A chance of survival!
I stood up and grabbed the physician’s hand. “Is there any chance of survival?” I asked him.
“Hmm,” the physician nodded in response. “Although I haven’t seen anything like this before. I must confess that I am amazed at It.” He said.
“Will she survive if I bite her?” I questioned.
“I am not sure your highness,” the physician answered.
That’s wasn’t the answer I wanted. I needed to know if she would survive or not. “Be sure!” I shouted at him. “Will she survive?” I asked him.
The physician stared at me with his obsidian eyes and nodded in response. “She will survive but it’s will take process.”
“I don’t care if it’s will take a long time. I just needed to know if she’ll survive the bite.”
“The babies are stronger than you thought. She is half alive because of them, I believe she will survive the bite. ” Frank’s answer assured me and so I took a leap of faith and bite Gabriella on her wrist.
“Mate will come alive with our bite. Mate will survive!” My wolf cheered in my head.
I hope that it worked. I hoped Gabriella would live again and we will all be together forever.
“How long before she wakes up?” I questioned the physician.
“Waking up depends on her body. We can only wait. ”
I didn’t want to wait but I had no option but to wait until she woke up. “Teale, I need you and Daphne to stay with her until she wakes up.”
“Where are you going?” Daphne asked.
“There is someone I need to see. Xavier and Zepeda had escaped and as long as they are alive, they will always find a way to crawl back here.” I told her and headed towards the door. “Stay with Gabriella. I’ll be back,” I told them and opened the door.
“Be safe brother,” Teale said.
I turned to face him with a smile. “I will.” I walked out of the room and headed down the hallways towards the cells. Xavier and Zepeda were bad news and the war wouldn’t end until they are found. As I made my way towards the entrance of the cells, two guards walked towards me and bowed their heads.
“Your highness!” They both said simultaneously.
“Where is she?” I questioned Luciana and they both lead me towards her. The guards led me towards the cell Luciana was in.
It’s was a cell specially made for Vampires that had a rogue and it’s was much worse than the darkroom and the cold room. The room was connected to an electric current and every few minutes, The prisoner kept in the room will be electrocuted. “Turn off the current until I’m gone,” I ordered the guards.
“Yes sir.”
The door leading into the door opened with a loud creaking noise and as I made my way into the cell, I covered my nose as the stench of decayed body infiltrated my body. There was a bright light that brightened the cell when I walked farther into the cell, I saw Luciana sprawled on the ground with her hand chained behind her back. “Luciana!” I called.
“So you came after all. You’ve come to save me right?” Luciana laughed like a maniac and suddenly, she screamed out in pain.
I stared at her body and shook my head in pity for her. Her skin had been replaced with dark veins probably from the venom. Her beautiful face also had dark veins turning her into a different person. Her purple eyes had become dimmer than the last time and it’s was only a matter of time before she died. There were dark spots on her body and she was sweating as if she was drenched by rain.
“I didn’t come to save you,” my voice came out a little harsh but I didn’t care because she deserved it for everything she had done. “Your father and Xavier escaped. Tell me where they are?” I questioned.
“Those bastards escaped!” She laughed. “Even if I know, I will never tell you not after what you did to me!” Luciana shouted. “I loved you all my life but in the end, you didn’t choose me! You made me waste all these years loving you! ” Luciana shouted.
I understood what she was saying but she bought everything that had happened to herself. She got Bianca killed and thought she could replace her but Gabriella came and all her plans got ruined. “You caused all of this!” I shouted at her. I rushed towards her and grabbed her throat. “Where are they?” I questioned.
“I am not going to tell you!” She laughed. “Kill me now! This pain is terrible!” She cried out. “Kill me.”
I let go of her throat and turned to leave the cell. “You deserve pain until you die and when you die, you deserve so much pain because you are bitch! I hope you rot in hell!” I told her and walked out of the cell.
“You can’t leave me alone Slade. I love you!” She shouted.
If only those who you love could love you back.” I am sorry Luciana,” I apologized for not loving her back but that doesn’t justify her actions. She had killed a lot of people because of her greed and she also killed Gabriella so she deserved the terrible fate. “Goodbye, Luciana.”
Her screams echoed from the cells to the hallways and I knew she had met her end which she truly deserves.
