Chapter 41

Book:The Vampire World Published:2024-5-1

Gabriella Monet POV
The opening of the cell door woke me up from my sleep. The room was pitched dark which means Bianca was not in the room with me.
What did I say about trusting a ghost to always be by your side?
I was grabbed from the ground and pushed outside the dark cell by two bulky guards. “Where are you taking me to?” I inquired.
“Shut up Traitor!” One of the guards pushed me forward while the second guard gripped my shoulder a little bit tight.
I winced in pain and tried to break free but it’s was pointless. I was taken outside the Castle and I closed my eyes as it was still adjusting to the rays of the sun in the blue sky. The guards took me to a place I couldn’t see because my eyes were closed. They sat me on a metal chair as I could feel its coldness on my butt.
I fluttered my eyes open and looked around me. There were people, scratched that there were vampires and I knew that the guards took me to the punishment Arena probably to punish me or sentenced me to my Quick death.
The King was not sitting instead he was standing and his gazes were fixed on mine. He glared hard at me as if I took his kingdom away from him. There were a lot of Vampires at the Arena including Slade who was seated on a chair with his arms folded, Luciana who was by his side and talking to him, and Teale who was sending me a thumb up. I couldn’t see Daphne anywhere but I knew she was in the crowd somewhere. I couldn’t even see Anabella as she was dying of guilt.
“Start,” The king commanded.
Two guards came behind me and tied a chain around me. My lips trembled as I pictured my death. The King moved closer to me and stood in front of me. “Traitor,” he said.
I am not a Traitor.
“I should behead you but I heard you have an accomplice. Tell me who and I’ll behead the both of you but if you chose to stay silent, You’ll die alone in the most gruesome manner.” He threatened.
I visibly gulped and tried to say something but I stuttered like a fool. The king’s anger was radiating and I could feel it. If I answer him wrongly, that could be my end and I won’t get revenge on those who lied against me. “I…”
Coldwater was poured on me by the guards behind me. The water was iced cold. I coughed and trembled on the metal chair I was tied to. I gnashed my teeth and shivered as the harsh cold bites into my skin.
“It’s will be hot water next time,” The King threatened. “Answer me,” he raised my chin.
“I don’t have an accomplice,” I answered and I thought I saw Luciana laugh while Slade fixed his eyes on me. The King smirked at me and raised his hand to hit me but my next word shocked everyone. “Because I didn’t kill the Queen. How could I have ever killed a queen as pure as the vampire Queen?”
“You pathetic human,” The king slapped me across my face. I tasted blood in my mouth and I spat it out. “Now!” He ordered.
I let out a deafening scream as Hot water was poured on my body. “Haaaa,” I screamed and tried to stand up from the chair not caring if the Chain cut through my skin. The water was too hot and I thought I was going to die. My scalp felt as if it’s was on fire and my face aches so bad that I felt like scratching it until it bleeds. My body was scalded but the King didn’t stop there. He ordered the Guards to beat me up.
I was untied from the metal chair and had my hands tied behind my back. The guards hit me with a whip that cut through my skin. I closed my eyes and screamed out.
Tears spilled out like a river from my eyes. I cried for the dead Queen, I cried for being treated unjustly, I cried for being in a world that doesn’t favor the humans. “Enough!” The king stopped the guards. “You should know how to answer correctly human. You killed my beloved and before I kill you, I am going to make sure you suffer thrice for what you did to my queen. ”
“I…. Didn’t kill….” My vision felt hazy and I fell to the ground. My back was on fire and I knew I had loose a copious amount of blood. Through my hazy vision, I stared at the sky.
How I wished my life could be as peaceful as the sky. It had a moon at night and sun in the morning and most times, the sky poured out the rain. It had the most peaceful life. How I wish… I closed my eyes and I blacked out as the pain was unbearable.
Maybe if I was born into the world another time, I’ll like to be the Sky.         ~~~~~
Slade POV
In the early morning hours, The Queen was buried in a glass coffin and sealed away in a Tomb. Even in her death, she lay peacefully with her eyes closed. A rose was placed in her hand. Everyone who was in attendance paid their last respect to the Queen with their head bowed to the ground, pop.
“Long live the Queen,” they all chanted.
“Mother, I am going to make your murderer pay.” I thought with my hand balled into a fist and tears in my eyes. They shouldn’t have gone after the Queen because of their selfish reasons. My mother died like a commoner which was a huge disrespect to the Vampires.
A few hours after the Queen was buried, the King ordered everyone to be at the Arena. He was going to punish Gabriella and there was nothing I could do about it. The arena was filled with a lot of Vampires who had come to see the human who killed their beloved Queen. When Gabriella was bought to the Arena, My wolf screamed in my head.
“Go to mate and save her.”
She was pale and white as snow. Her face had loose all color and her and her dress was torn revealing her back and tighs. I wanted to save her but,  Saving her would only raise questions . my wolf side could be exposed or the king could kill her if I tried to save her.
“What do you think would happen once Gabriella is gone?” Luciana who was seated beside me tried to start a conversation but listening to her was making my blood boil and I decided to block her out by fixing my eyes on Gabriella. When the Questioning started, I shifted on my chair and my wolf kept screaming in my head that I should save my mate.
The king began the Questioning and as Sassy as Gabriella was, she gave the king answers he never expected. My father got angry and ordered the guards to pour cold water on her. My wolf whimpered and I felt my body shiver. “Are you okay?” Kyle who was seated on my right side seemed to notice my discomfort.
“I….,” I cleared my throat. “I am fine.”
“You know you can’t do anything right?’ Kyle pointed out something but I had no idea what he was aiming at. ” she killed a mother and just because you both are connected shouldn’t mean you should save her. ”
Now I understood him.
“Kyle,” I wheezed. “I…” I didn’t get to finish the conversation as I felt my body on fire. My wolf cried in my head. I looked towards Gabriella and tried to stand up but Kyle pulled me down.
“Don’t try anything Slade. Remember everyone is watching,” he pointed to the massive crowd in the Arena. I winced in pain and closed my eyes as I tried to block Gabriella’s emotions. When the king ordered for her to be whipped, My claws came out and my eyes transitioned back and font. My wolf tried to claw its way out but I held it in.
“Mate is going to die!” My wolf continue ranting until it stopped and I couldn’t hear anything in my head again. After the whipping ended, Gabriella fell to the ground and I stood up from my chair not caring about what people might think. I felt her emotions through the bond we shared and it’s was filled with hate, anger, and sadness.
The King ordered her to be returned into the dark cell. I rushed out of the Arena and went after the Guards who took her back to the dark cell. When I arrived at the dark cell, Gabriella was thrown into the cell. “Your highness,” the guards bowed their head when they saw me but they didn’t allow me pass-through to see her.
“What are you doing?” I asked.
How dare they try to stop a prince?
“The king’s order.” They answered simultaneously.
“The king?” I scoffed and ran a hand through my head. “What the hell are you saying?”
“The king orders us not to allow anyone near the traitor. ”
“How dare you?” I yelled in their faces but they didn’t move and stood their ground. They were taught to be fearless and I knew arguing with them would be pointless because they couldn’t disobey their king. I cursed angrily as I left the dark cell and went to my room.
“Nice to see you, Slade,” I met Teale seated on my bed.
“What do you want?” I walked into the room and sat on the bed beside him.
“Getting you to see that history is repeating itself!” He shouted at me. “You are going to let the king kill her?” He referred to Gabriella.
“What? How dare you accuse me?” I retorted.
Teale stood up and placed his hands in his waist. “Because of your foolishness and act of neglect, Bianca died and now it’s Gabriella’s turn. ”
“Who says that I am not going to do something about it?” I stood up and faced him. ” I am going to save her!” I declared.
“Oh really?” Teale chuckled. “Is it when she dies? Are you going to save her once the king killed her!” He raised his hands and punched the air. “I feel like strangling you right now Slade,” he confessed.
I knew he would say that because Teale always jumped to conclusions without reasoning enough.
“You think I’ll let the king kill her. No!” I paused and ran a hand through my hair. “Gabriella already told me who was behind the murder.”
“Who?” Teale sat down and stared at me urging me to say something with a hand gesture.
“It’s Luciana,” I explained everything that Gabriella told me and he listened with Rapt attention.
“That’s bitch,” he cursed angrily and stood up again. “How could they do that to her?”
“I have no idea but I am going to reveal the true killer and I need your help,” I begged.
“If it’s about Gabriella. I’ll help.” He offered.
“Good. The King would surely look for a way to kill her and when that time comes, I’ll need your help but for now, we need to find out why Luciana killed my mother. If it’s the truth then I am going to make her pay”
“Same here,” Teale added.
To get Luciana, I needed to set a Trap and find out why she framed Gabriella for murder. “I noticed something at the Arena earlier,” Teale said.
“What’s that?”
Teale cleared his throat and whispered as if he didn’t want anyone to hear. “Gabriella’s sister was not at the Arena.”
Yes, I noticed that too but I thought she was amongst the crowd. “Ever since that night, I haven’t seen her. ” Teale pointed out.
“You think she could be hiding because of something?”
Teale nodded. “I think she knows something about the Queen’s murder. We have to look for her and find an answer so that Gabriella wouldn’t die an unjust death. ”
“Agreed.”
