Chapter 40

Book:The Vampire World Published:2024-5-1

Anabella POV
I felt disgusted at myself. I didn’t deserve happiness for what I did to Gabriella but it’s wasn’t my fault. I had to protect myself and my unborn child. I never wanted to become a vampire but my whole life changed in just a day. Gabriella might think I was the worst sister on earth but I had to sacrifice her to protect my child.
Selfish right? Yes, I was selfish but I was going to make things right. I was going to make sure Gabriella didn’t suffer for what she didn’t do wrong.
“It’s a great joy that our first enemy is gone. Now we go onto the next phase.” Luciana, the devil’s reincarnate announced in our secret tunnel where we have our meetings. I glared at her and rubbed my stomach gently as I thought about what I could do to save Gabriella. “What do you think Lady Aneka?”
Why was she asking for my opinion? How dare she do that after making me betray my sister?
“I think…..” I looked into Xavier’s eyes and saw him giving me the looks he always gave me whenever he was mad. I visibly gulped and looked at Luciana who was waiting for my reply. “I think…..” I heaved a sigh and stood up from my chair. “Fuck this,” I cursed and kicked the chair I sat on. “I am done with this. I am not whom you all thought I was.”
“Really?” Luciana clicked her tongue and folded her arms together. “What is your secret?” She inquired.
“What are you doing Aneka? Sit back down now!” Xavier said through gritted teeth but I was done listening to him. I couldn’t bear to let my sister suffer for what she didn’t do wrong.
“No,” I refused. “My real name is Anabella and I am Gabriella’s real sister,” I announced.
Everyone gasped except Luciana and Xavier. “I am not a full vampire. I was turned two years when he bought me from the auction home. I am….” I bites my lips as I looked into the eyes of everyone. “I am going to free my sister. I am going to tell the king about everything going on down here. I am going to announce it to everyone!” I shouted.
“What are you doing Aneka? Are you crazy?” Xavier stood up and grabbed my hand. He twisted it but I didn’t show any sign of pain. “You will tell everyone that what you just said is all a lie!”
“Lies?” I scoffed and yanked my hand free from his grip. “They are not lies and you know it, Xavier. You bought me here against my will. You turned me into a vampire because I got pregnant for you!” I shouted at him.
Xavier chuckled and slapped me across the face. “You bitch!” He raised his hand to slap me again but he was stopped by Luciana.
“I think that’s enough!’ Luciana dropped Xavier’s hand and moved closer to me. ” you…” She said. “That’s was a wonderful performance,” she clapped.
I scoffed and looked away from her.
“Look at me,” she turned my head to face hers. “I knew everything from the beginning. I knew you were Gabriella’s sister and that’s why it’s fun.”
So the bitch knew and pretended that she didn’t?
“That’s your problem, Luciana. I am going to save my sister whether you know or you don’t. ” I told her but the bitch only burst into laughter. “Why are you laughing?” I shouted at her.
“Laughing at your foolishness Anabella,” She called me by my real name for the first time.” my father and I knew this would happen so we bought leverage against you.”
That’s caught my attention.
“What are you saying?” I questioned.
Luciana beckoned to Rhoda and Gideon, the king’s most trusted bodyguard. “Bring her!” She ordered in a stern tone.
They both entered deeper into the tunnel and dragged someone along them. I gasped when I made eye contact with my mother. I haven’t seen her for two years but she still looked the same. “Mother,” I whispered.
Her face was covered with a mask and her mouth was gagged with black clothing but I’ll recognize her anywhere. “What are you doing to my mother? How did you find her? Why did you bring her here? I threw a series of questions at Luciana who seemed to be enjoying my frustration.
” one question at a time lady Aneka,” she mocked. “Now!” She ordered Rhoda and Gideon. The mask on my mother’s face was lifted and gagged was removed from her mouth.
“Where I’m I?” I blinked a tear away when I heard when my mother’s calm and sift voice after two years. She looked around and when her eyes landed on me, she opened her mouth wide opened and bought a hand to her mouth. “Ana… Anabella, is that you?” My mother was beyond shocked as her eyes were almost popping out of her socket. “How… Are you alive?”
“Mother!” I rushed to meet her but I was dragged back by Xavier. “Let’s me go!”
“Not too fast.” Luciana stood in between my mother and me. “You can’t meet her yet until you meet my demands.”
I’ll do anything for my mother.
“What do you want?”
Luciana smirked at me and clapped her hands together. “You keep your mouth shut about the Queen’s death and I’ll let your mother live. You try to save Gabriella and I’ll kill her in the most gruesome manner. ” she threatened.
“What? How can you do that to me?” I shouted and lunged myself at her but Xavier dragged me back.
“Don’t try that,” Luciana warned and walked to where my mother stood and grabbed her throat. My mother choke on her breathe and struggled against Luciana’s grip on her throat.
“What are you doing? Let’s my mother go!” I shouted at her.
“Why should I let her go?” Luciana said through gritted teeth.
I closed my eyes and let the tears I’d been trying to hold in spill down my face. “I am sorry Gabriella,” I muttered.
“What is that?” Luciana questioned.
“I’ll do whatever you want.”
“I can’t hear you.”
“I said I’ll do what you want damnit!” I shouted.
“Good,” Luciana let go of my mother’s throat.
My mother coughed and best her chest as she struggled to breathe. Xavier released his hold on me and I rushed to her side.”mother!” I shouted.
“Ana….,” she stuttered. “It’s you Anabella?”
“Yes,” I nodded and embraced her. “I missed you so much mother, “warm tears continue spilling down my face as I reunite with my mother. ” I missed you!” I hugged her tightly.
We both cried in each other’s arms and wished Gabriella was there with us. I love Gabriella with all of my heart but I couldn’t bear to see my mother dead. This isn’t about being selfish, it’s called sacrifice.

Gabriella Monet POV
“Don’t tell you are still sleeping?” Someone kicked me on the legs. “Gabriella!” The person yelled in my ears. “Wake up!”
“Get lost!” I shouted at whosoever it was. How dare they disturb my beauty sleep. “Get lost!” I shouted again.
“Sorry but not sorry,” The voice sounded again. I found it familiar because I’ve heard it before.
“Who are you?”
The annoying voice laughed like a maniac. “You can’t recognize my wonderful voice.”
“Wait, I know that voice.” Yes, I do and it belongs to an annoying person. “Is that Bianca?” If it’s was Bianca then it means I was dreaming but I should be able to see her face.
How come my dream was in the dark cell room?
“You get it!” Bianca shouted.
“How come you are here with me in this dark room? I’m I in a dark room in my dream?”
“No,” Bianca slapped my face.
“Ouch,” I shouted. “What’s was that for?”
“You sound so stupid right now.”
“Stupid? If this isn’t a dream then how come you are here?” I shouted at her.
“You shout too much that I thought my ear would bleed until I die. Oops, I am dead.” Bianca laughed.
I didn’t find it funny.
“How come you are here?”
“Well,” Bianca cleared her throat. “I have already foreseen your downfall.”
“What? How do you mean?” I questioned?
Bianca scoffed and clicked her tongue. “You foolish human!” She yelled and grabbed my hair.
“Ouch, why are you doing that? Let’s go of my head you Ghost!” I shouted and tried to grab her hand but I couldn’t see a thing. “How are you even seeing anything now?”
“I am a ghost you fool. I can see in the dark because I am already dead!”
“Why are you haunting me? I didn’t kill you!”
“Yes you didn’t but I came to save you from your downfall. I already warned you about this months ago but you were adamant when I told you an evil person was in this castle. ”
Oh really!
“How was I supposed to know that!” I shouted. “You didn’t tell who the person was. You disappeared anytime you are close to revealing the person. How was I supposed to know!”
Bianca heaved a deep sigh and muttered some words I couldn’t hear. As soon as he finished saying those words, a light flashed beside me. It’s was dim but I could see it in the darkroom. “How is….”
“I already told you. I am a ghost, you human!’
Right, she was a ghost. I looked at her and it felt as if I was staring at my reflection. ” why are you again?” I questioned.
Bianca facepalmed herself and slapped me on the head. “What the hell is wrong with you? Why do you keep slapping my head?”
“That’s because you are too dumb. I am here to save your ass or will you like to die unjustly!”
I shook my head and Bianca took my hand and placed it into hers. ” Good. We need to find a way to get you out of here.”
“You can’t do that and unlike you, I am no ghost.” I made a finger gesture. “You can’t save me.”
“Never say….. Hush,” Bianca pointed outside. “Someone is coming!” She pointed outside. The light went out as the footsteps grew nearer.
“Gabriella,” I heard Teale banging on the cell door. “Are you okay Gabby?”
“Teale is still the same good guy,” Bianca commented.
“Gabriella!” Teale shouted my name. “I need you to say something.”
I bites my lips and sniffled before I responded to him. “I am okay.”
“I know you didn’t do it, Gabriella. I am going to save you.” Finally, someone who I could rely on. “Thank you, Teale,” I said to him.
“I am sorry Gabriella that I couldn’t help you when you were taken away but I promise that I’ll find a way for you to be freed from this cell.” He promised and I trusted his words.
“I believe you, Teale,” I responded and burst into tears. “You….. Are the only one who didn’t question me. Thank you.”
“I knew you could never kill the Queen. I trust you Gabby.” His words were so encouraging that they bought more tears into my eyes. “I’ll be back Gabriella. Stay strong.” I heard him leave.
“That’s was encouraging Gabby. You got yourself a good friend there.”
I didn’t say anything and continued crying at my life that turned into nothing overnight. “I…..” I stuttered as I couldn’t form any word.
“That’s enough Gabriella. I am not going to let you die as I did years ago. I’ll make sure you are free from this!” Bianca promised and pulled me into her embrace. The light appeared again and this time it brighten the room.
I held Bianca tight like my life depended on it and cried like a baby because I never knew I could have someone who still believed in me. “‘Everything is going to be alright.” She pats my back gently.
I hope so. Trusting in the word of a ghost who could disappear sounded stupid but I believed in Bianca’s word.
