Chapter 38

Book:The Vampire World Published:2024-5-1

Gabriella Monet POV
The Queen’s birthday drew nearer and I had a feeling that it’s wasn’t going to end well. The dreams about the future made me question the past.
What If the past was all a lie? What if our answers lie in the Future? Those questions haunted me every second and I find it difficult to think making it hard to be able to communicate with Slade.
“You sure I look good in green?” Anabella waved her green dress in my face trying to get my attention. “You sure you are fine?” She questioned.
“Yes,” I tried hard to smile but I failed at it. “Your dress is beautiful,” I commented on her green sequin dress. It’s was a long V-neck sequin dress.
“Thank you, dear sister,” Anabella looked at herself in the mirror and admired the dress. “How about you Daphne?”
“I think the dress is nice,” Daphne commented. She was seated beside me and just like me, she seemed uninterested in the whole thing. I had no idea why she seems gloomy but my instinct told me it was about Kyle.
“Daphne,” I called and she turned to face me. “You okay?” I whispered.
Daphne nodded in response but I knew she was far from being okay. No want to stir any more conversation, I didn’t ask any more questions. If only she knew that she and Kyle were meant to be.
“What are you wearing to the party Gabby?” Anabella who was still admiring her dress in the mirror questioned.
“Erm….. I don’t think the slaves are wearing any dress.” That’s the truth. The slaves were just met to serve not to dress up to a vampire party.
Anabella pouted and walked to me. “I am so sorry about that.”
“Why are you sorry? You didn’t create the rules.”
“But,” she placed her hand on my shoulder. “I’ll like to see you wear a dress to that Party. ”
“Sorry, that’s not going to happen.  Not everyone is a vampire.”
Anabella smiled and walked back to the mirror while she continues to admire herself.
Daphne and I left Anabella’s room to the lobby where Madam Rhoda, the head of the slaves gave every one of us a job to do. Daphne and I were in charge of cleaning the hall amongst some other slaves. “Pssst Daphne,” I whispered.
“Yes,” Daphne replied.
“You sure you okay?”
Daphne looked around and stretched her neck as if she was telling me something. “What going on?” She closed one of her eyes and made a whistle.
I heard a throat clearing behind me and when I turned, Madam Rhoda was standing behind me. “Lady Luciana requests for your presence.”
“My presence,” I pointed to myself or was I mistaken. “She wants to see me?” The last time I checked, we had no business together.
“Yes, Gabriella. She wants to see you.” Rhoda replied.
I wondered why she wanted to see me because Luciana and I don’t have any business together. We hated each other so coming together was like a curse I tried to avoid. I dropped the broom I had in my hand and walked out of the hall with Rhoda. “You have any idea why she wants to see me?” I questioned the grumpy lady.
Rhoda ignored me until we reached Luciana’s room. “You may now enter,” Rhoda pointed inside Luciana’s room.
I heaved a deep sigh as I walked into the room. “She is here Lady Luciana.”
“Oh!” I heard Luciana say. She was in front of a long mirror staring at herself in a red mermaid dress. The dress hugged her curves in the right place and she looked like a princess. “How do I look?”
“Why am I here?” I retorted.
Luciana scoffed and bite her nails. “You need to learn how to appreciate good things, Gabriella. I’ll soon be your future queen.”
Future queen? I guessed I didn’t hear that right. She could be the queen of the world for all I care. “Why did you call me here Luciana?” I folded my arms together as I watched her continuing to admire herself in the mirror.
“I know about you and Slade.”
“Great.” That was all I replied with.
Luciana adjusted her dress and beckoned for Rhoda to get her black heels. “Slade is the future prince of the vampire world. Being with him would only end up in sorrow, pain, and heartbreak.” She wore her black heels and posed in front of the mirror.
“Why are you telling me all of this?” I inquired.
“So you’ll come to your senses and stop messing around with a prince that doesn’t even want you.”
“Doesn’t want me?” I chuckled at her foolishness. “I don’t know where or whom you hear that from Luciana but Slade and I are met together. ”
“You think?” Luciana shouted at me. “You stupid human! Why do you always appear and get in between us?”
“I have no idea what you are ranting about but Slade and I share a bond.”
“A bond?” Luciana suddenly burst into laughter. “I am so sorry for you.” She pouted. “You are so daft to the extent that you don’t know what going on around you. ”
What does she mean by that? Slade would never betray me because I was his mate and we shared a bond that was meant for life. “I don’t care about what you are saying but Luciana, never you call me for something as shitty as this ever again!” I took a deep breath and headed towards the door.
“You sure you won’t regret this? You think Slade would still love you if you do something bad!” Luciana scoffed. “Tsk, Tsk, Tsk. You are a pathetic little human who doesn’t know anything. I feel for you, Gabriella.”
“We’ll see about that.” I walked out of the room and slammed the door shut. When I was outside her room, I shouted and punched the thin air. “Pathetic little human,” I said through gritted teeth. “How dare she call me that?” I complained and walked away.
If she thought that I was going to let her treat me like I met nothing then she must have forgotten who I was.  I never back down when I’m being threatened. Having no idea of where to go, I found myself in front of Slade’s room. Since the Queen’s birthday was closed, he had been super busy preparing for his mother’s birthday.
I stood in front of his door and deliberate on whether to knock or not. I raised my hand to the door but quickly dropped it when I realized that he could be busy. I frowned and walked away from the door but I stopped when I heard the door opening and saw him stepping out of his room with Teale and Kyle. Teale was the first to notice me.
“Hey Gabby,” he waved at me and the other two boys turned their heads towards me.
“Hi,” I answered but it came out more like a whisper.
“Hey Gabby,” Slade came to meet me and pulled me into his arms. “I missed you.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, I do.” He smiled at me and kissed my forehead.
“Okay. If you both are done with your lovey-dovey, I’ll like it if we can go for our suit fitting.”
“You have somewhere to go?” I questioned them.
“Yeah,” Slade scratched the back of his head and kissed Gabriella on the lips. “I’ll see you later Gabby.”
“Sure.” I smiled back at him and waved as I watched them leave. There goes my chance of asking Slade about his upcoming wedding with Luciana. I guessed I’ll have to ask him later.

Luciana POV
“I hope you all are ready for the Queen’s birthday. We’ve planned this for weeks so we need to make it work out.” I announced as I walked into the tunnel met for our meeting. My father and the others were already waiting for me. “We need to make sure everything goes as planned.”
“Yes, that’s right.” My father agreed with my decision. He beckoned for me to come over and whispered some words into my ears.
“Of course,” I grinned when I thought of what he had whispered into my ears. “You are the right father. That’s would be perfect.”
“Is there something we need to know?” Aneka questioned.
I eyed her suspiciously and couldn’t help but imagine how I could get rid of her. Once Gabriella was out of the line, I was going to get her out of the way. She seemed like a problem that would get in my way in the nearest future. “What do you want to know about Lady Aneka?” I placed my hand on the table and observe her closely. “You look like you would deliver your baby anytime.” I pointed to her stomach.
She placed her hand on her stomach and looked at Xavier. ” yes, you are right about that.” She smiled.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
“Do I need to do anything?” Candice questioned.
Another person I hated. Candice was another problem I was going to get rid of once everything ended. “I don’t think you need to do anything Candice. Your presence is all we need.”
“But I could act as a witness in our plan. ”
“Hmmmmmm,” I nodded at her. “You are right about that Candice. Your presence is highly needed.” I told her. “Great. Let’s get to our plan.”
“I hope it’s won’t affect Aneka and the baby.” Xavier finally spoke up after maintaining silence ever since the meeting started.
“Don’t worry, your baby and Lady Aneka will be okay,” I assured him but it’s was a pure lie. As long as I get what I wanted, I don’t care about anybody else.
