Severo’s gaze froze for a moment.
The next moment, he turned his head away and spoke in a tone of indifference: “What kind of question is there to ask?
The tone of his voice rose, a mocking tone.
There was nothing on his face, but his tone of voice was enough to express his emotions.
Allyce’s eyes were red as she looked at Severo, holding back, not wanting to shed tears.
As an adult, I knew that shedding tears in front of someone who didn’t care about you would only add to the joke and bore people.
But how could it contain them?
I really couldn’t.
Allyce clenched her hands tightly and cried like a child, shaking her head as she said, “You must be lying! You’re in trouble, aren’t you? Has something else happened? Tell me. Don’t say such hurtful words, I’m so sad, don’t be like that …”
With these last words, Allyce snorted so hard she couldn’t speak, stood up and covered her chest where it really hurt.
What if it really was?
No one was as ruthless as Severo, but no one was as stoic as he was.
It’s not that this has never happened, Severo has a history of it.
Severo lies rigid in bed, his face too calm to keep it.
His hands were tied too tightly by Allyce and he could not break them.
So just getting up became difficult.
But once he had rolled over and sat down, he shifted slightly and stopped, and sat looking at Allyce, not moving a muscle.
Severo’s eyes were cold, but if you looked closely, you could see that his jaw was tense, the effect of extreme patience.
Allyce was still crying, as if the tears were incessant, and she was trembling slightly, looking miserable.
Severo’s throat slipped with difficulty and his voice came out cold and terrifying: “What else do you know but to cry? I don’t like you, I’m tired of playing with you, you bore me! What’s the point of lurking like this!
Allyce looked at Severo with teary eyes, she couldn’t see Severo’s face because of the tears in his eyes.
She stared at him for a couple of seconds, then suddenly ran over and sat down on her knees in front of him, reaching out and feeling his body, muttering, “You’re not Severo, you must not be him, you’re pretending to be …”.
Severo shouted at him as if he was finally angry: “Enough! How many times do I have to say it!”
Allyce froze, looking at the disgust and impatience in Severo’s eyes, sobbed a little, struggled to stop her sobs, and asked in a muffled voice, “Are you really tired of playing games? Then why did you want to marry me?”.
Severo’s tone was a bit mocking, “Heh, you have a very bad memory, don’t forget it was you who offered yourself to me, you’re young, you’re still handsome, you offered yourself to me, why wouldn’t I want it?”
Allyce was trembling with rage and opened her mouth to ask something else, but no sound came out for a long time.
Severo’s voice sank as he furrowed his brows, “Isn’t that enough, what more do you want to ask for? Allyce, I’ve never seen a woman as brazen as you, you really think you’re so big that you can have me by your side, you’re so moody, you don’t have a good family, you’re a virgin except when you’re with me, what more do you have to offer?”
Severo’s string of words, though each word was the truth, yet each word was like a needle, stabbing fiercely into his heart, stabbing into his blood.
The terrible thing about love is that the person who loves you the most is usually also the one who can hurt you the most, the one who knows precisely all your flaws, the one who stabs you in the face and never fails.
The other side of love is hate.
The other side of deep love is despair.
The room fell abruptly silent.
Time seemed to stand still and the sound of the two men’s breathing seemed to disappear.
For a long time, Allyce spoke with difficulty: “So, divorce, then.
Severo had said he would be absolutely faithful to his marriage.
She had believed him, but he had broken his promise.
No wonder they say that men’s words are the least reliable.
Was she too stupid or was he too clever in his tactics?
Allyce thinks that when she asks for a divorce, Severo will say yes.
Instead, Severo replied with only words: “No way”.
Allyce looked up sharply, with a glint in her wooden eyes, and looked at Severo hopefully.
As if he knew what she was thinking, Severo’s lips curved into a mocking curve, “What, you think I’m going to back out?”
The twinkle in Allyce’s eye quickly disappeared again.
Severo had guessed it, she really thought Severo was having second thoughts.
Severo was such an intelligent man, in other words, so wise that he could read Allyce’s mind with a single glance.
He laughed softly, in a slightly mocking tone: “You think it’s so easy to take half my fortune?
Allyce’s face went abruptly white, her eyes and the tip of her nose still red from earlier tears, and she sat mute on her knees, looking heartbreakingly vulnerable.
Severo moved his lips and then closed them tightly as his face changed.
Severo’s words were bordering on insulting.
Insulting to Allyce and demeaning to their relationship.
The last flames of hope in Allyce’s heart were reduced to dust.
He gritted his teeth as if he was using all his strength: “I don’t want any of your money! I only hope you can divorce me as soon as possible.
He looked at Severo’s impassive face and could not help smiling.
He slid slowly out of bed, fetched a pair of scissors and cut the tie tied around Severo’s hand, looked at the cloth which was torn into several pieces and froze again.
When it was shiny it was a fine tie, which embellished one’s status and made people envy it.
When it was cut, it was just a piece of rag.
So was his relationship with Severo.
He then put the scissors back in place.
Having done this methodically, he left without looking back.
All the while, she didn’t notice that Severo didn’t say a word, let alone realise how a man who had no feelings for her could tolerate his hands being tied and not get angry.
It was only when the door closed that Severo could no longer contain the fishy sweetness that rose in his throat and, crouching on the bed, he spat out a mouthful of blood.
At that moment, a maid knocked at the door: “Sir, madam, she …”.
Severo wiped the blood from the corner of his lips and slowly sat up as if nothing had happened, his voice no different from normal: “Let her go!”
The maid got her answer and left.
Severo, however, did not lie down to rest, but picked up his phone and made a call: “Go on”.
