Rhezi doesn’t know how to react to what she has found out. She confirmed the news to the head of the law firm and got a headache. It is true that Kraius bought the firm as well as her new office is in Montreal Law.
Rhezi felt heavy as she left the firm. At exactly five in the afternoon, she went out from work and drove her car to a pastry shop around Metro.
Even though Rhezi’s heart was heavy because of the misfortune she had during the whole day, she was still a bit relieved upon entering the shop. If there’s one thing that isn’t totally lost with her, it’s her penchant for eating a wide variety of cakes. Only, she just ate a sugar free kind of cake.
After she bought Lava Moist Cake, she abruptly turned her back to leave. But everything she was about to do stopped when the woman she had not seen for a long time appeared. The sight in front of her made her heart throbbed in pain and longing.
“Rhezi Baby …”
Rhezi got stunned while holding the cake she had bought. Her mouth fell open to utter words but she couldn’t find the right one to say. She just stood there, eyeing her mother while walking slowly towards her direction.
As always, she’s still beautiful. Wearing her usual black slacks and formal black coat with a white silk blouse, her mother looked superior. Her hair was short that fitted her classy and glamorous facade. Her soulful eyes were pointing at her directly. As Rhezi’s mother neared on her, she became more aware of what the past year had done for her.
“M-Mommy,” Rhezi finally said as she got closer.
“R-Rhezi b-baby,” her mother whispered softly again. She’s smiling but the tears welled up in her eyes was obvious.
Rhezi closed her eyes as her mother embraced her tight. She leaned her head on her and hugged her tighter too. They don’t care even if some people are already looking at them. While Jansen’s happiness was unbearable because she finally hugged the child she had been looking for a long time.
“I’m sorry,” Rhezi said apologetically.
“Let’s talk about it later, Baby. I will always listen to you. You know that! For now, let me embrace you first. ”
Rhezi smiled. Her uncertainties and worries were gone. She nodded and let her mother do what she wanted to do. They stayed in that position for a few minutes and held each other’s hands after. They even sat on a vacant table for two and talked.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know. . . ” Jansen said.
Rhezi nodded. She then smiled and held her mother’s hand. “It’s okay, Mommy. It doesn’t matter to me anymore. I’ve already moved on. ”
Jansen nodded at what her daughter said but the disagreement was evident on her face. However, she respected what Rhezi wanted. She would not speak and take action but she would not also stay silent and do nothing if necessary.
Jansen party blamed herself for the things that happened in the past. She became too complacent with everything because of her trust in her friend. But hearing her daughter’s confession, she realized that things weren’t that easy.
Jansen and Rhezi separated when their conversation ended. Jansen wanted to be with Rhezi in the Lagdameo mansion but she refused. Although saddened by her rejection, the lady did not insist anymore.
They kissed and hugged each other as they said their goodbyes and parted ways. Rhezi went home directly. She was feeling better after the bad news she had been dealing with the whole day. However, the young woman still could not help but worry about what might happen, especially that she admitted everything to her mother.
“Assalamu alaikum, Momma!” (Peace upon you, Mommy!)
Rhezi instantly smiled as she heard the voice of her son, Dos. Out of her three children, Dos is the sweetest. He was always waiting for her to come home from work even when they were still in Dubai. It’s just that, Dos was more often sickly than the two.
“I have something for all of you, Love!” Rhezi happily said. She also waved the cake she was holding.
“Shukran Momma!” (Thank you, Mommy!)
Dos said happily and kissed her cheek at the same time.
Rhezi smiled. She held her son’s right hand as they walked inside the mansion. They directed to the kitchen that was located at the side of the mini liquor bar. Rhezi immediately put down the cake while her child sat in the empty chair there.
The kitchen was classy and grand. Its entire interior is white and gold mixed with minimalist style. The countertops were Quartz that blended to the built-in shelves and floor to ceiling cabinets. It also had completely new appliances and things for cooking. Big oven and her favorite coffee maker.
“Where are your brothers?” Rhezi asked after giving Dos a slice of cake.
Dos looked up. “Upstairs Momma. And Daddy will bring us outside. It’s our first time!”
Rhezi’s smile instantly vanished. She instantly took her phone out of her bag and called Jericho. It got her a few rings before Jericho had got to answer. She just massaged her forehead when no one had talked to her and the only thing she could hear was her son’s and Jericho’s happy bonding. The phone was obviously on a loudspeaker to annoy her.
“If you won’t dare to talk, I’ll report you to your Daddy! Gay, talk to me!” Rhezi’s annoyed remarks. She also peeked at her child and breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that he was just eating.
Rhezi sighed in relief and sat on the vacant chair opposite to her son. She is just thankful that her son is not very fluent in the Filipino language. Her kids used Arabic and English more often. She also did not teach them because she had no plans to return to the Philippines.
It had been two months since Jericho and her came back with the kids. Bailey’s family pampered her well that they used their connection for her. Rhezi did not even bother to get a job. Even though she has not yet set foot in the Philippines, there are jobs waiting for her already. It’s just that she hadn’t used everything she learned because of Kraius’ intervention.
“Witch! How can I talk to you? Eh, I’m just here, ” Jericho finally answered on the other line.
“Are you kidding me?!” Rhezi asked loudly.
“Momma, what is neylowlokow?”
Rhezi cursed when she turned to look at her child. It was as if she had returned to the scene that had happened earlier between her and Kraius. Her son’s brown eyes looked at her curiously. He also frowned as he stared back at her.
Rhezi swallowed hard and answered Dos, “Nothing, Love. Just finish your cake, okay? ”
Rhezi just sighed when her child nodded and went back to eating. Her boys weren’t babies anymore. Even if she wanted to stop time from turning, it’s not possible. It was inevitable. However, being independent from her means less questions from them. Especially since they are homeschooled and she couldn’t explain why.
“Dumbfounded? What a waste of beauty if we’re out of sanity, Bes! ”
“What the fu-”
Rhezi’s words stopped as Jericho’s lips touched hers. He even smiled after kissing her with a wink. Rhezi glared at him after feeling shocked. She was really stunned by the amount of thoughts so she did not realize their arrival.
“It’s not as if it’s our first time, Momma,” Jericho said, grinning. Rhezi rolled her eyes on him, which made him laugh out loud.
Rhezi shook her head and turned her back. She immediately smiled when she saw her two children. Like Dos, they are wearing checkered black and white polos paired with dark denim pants and loafers. Their hair is only lose up to their shoulders. She intentionally grew it long because of their looks.
Jericho was wearing the same. He looked very masculine. A well-built physique and undeniably gorgeous face. He also goes to the gym even though he has a woman’s heart. It’s weird for her.
“We’re going to the mall Momma. Daddy lost our bet. Right Dos? ” Tres told Rhezi happily. He’s the noisy one out of the three siblings. He looked at Rhezi then elbowed his brother Dos who’s still busy eating cake.
“Tres was right, Momma. Please, we want to go out,” Roscoe added. He’s like the eldest between the three of them.
Roscoe was responsible and caring. But he surpassed his brothers for being naughty like Kraius.
“Please… permit us to go out,” Jericho pleaded to her while he jabbed his forefinger on Rhezi’s waist.
She sighed looking at her kids’ hopeful eyes while pouting. Even Dos, who was busy eating, imitated his brothers and nodded to his mother. Rhezi’s heart seemed pinched by something because of what she saw. She knew that she’s been so strict towards them over the years. She didn’t know what to do anymore, so she nodded in defeat.
“Yes!” The three of them shouted together with so much enthusiasm.
Rhezi smiled from the sight and looked at Jericho. She whispered, “It’s your fault.”
She saw Jericho nodded and walked to her son. He talked to her children before he escorted them out of the kitchen. While Rhezi just shook her head at what she saw. It seemed that she had no choice but to just go with the flow of events and of those which are about to happen. Even if the truth is, it was scary.
She was definitely afraid of what would happen next. Afraid of the wrath from him if ever he would finally come to know her secret.
