Olivia
We were riding the Ferris wheel.
The view was amazing. I hoped we could go on top once again because Blake had paid so we could have another rotate. I had taken video and pictures and sent them to Karen. I knew she was going to be ecstatic looking at the photos.
I guessed the most amazing view…was having Blake sitting in front of me. I began to consider us was having a date. Nobody in the town knew that we were father and daughter.
“You like the view?”
“Yes. It’s beautiful.” When we reached the top, I looked outside again and I could only feel amazed by the town. The lights surrounding the town were magnificent.
“Olivia?” Blake called and I turned at him, looking very serious. “Although it’s just our first day here, I wanted to say something. There’s a reason why I took you to the mob museum earlier.”
I knew it.
I looked fully at him. Ready for whatever he was going to throw at me. Possibly…his past.
“I told you before that I was adopted by my current family, right?” I gave him a nod. “I didn’t have any good memories when I was still a child. My parents were…fucked up. My father was a part of the mob from New York while my mother was a university student when she had me.”
“What?”
Blake’s father was a part of the mob from New York? In that case, that made him half mafia as well?
And did he just say that his mother was a university student when she gave birth to Blake?
That was just like…me.
My mother too had me when she was in college.
“My mother was living a normal life until she met my father. She loved him, unfortunately, he doesn’t. My father was way older than her, and he already had a wife.” Oh, my God.
That was so unfortunate but at the same time…how could he?
“They began an affair and when she found out she was pregnant, my father immediately abandoned her. She later gave birth to me and that’s when she became depressed. She saw me as the replica of the man who had discarded her easily and she constantly…abusing me. Both physically and mentally. She always said that I was a mistake and I was not supposed to be born.”
I couldn’t hold it back.
I couldn’t hold back my tears. How could a mother do that to her only child? She was supposed to protect him not by hurting him.
“I was living with my mother until I was seven years old. She almost…killed me with a kitchen knife until our neighbor finally stepped out and saved me before she could pierce me with the knife. They heard the commotion in the house and they took me to the authority. They heard everything but every time they came and asked what happened, my mother never told them the truth and kicked them away.”
“And…you went to the orphanage?”
“No, I was with the police for a day until the Morgan family came to pick me up. They were on their way to the orphanage that I was supposed to go and when they heard a kid who was almost killed by his mother was going to go there, they immediately came to the station. They said they wanted to give their only daughter a brother and since then…I never saw my mother again. I heard she passed away a month after I was adopted; by jumping from the hospital room.”
I immediately covered my mouth. Trying to hold back the sobs. I was happy that Blake has finally opened up himself to me but at some point…I just wanted him to stop.
“Were you sad when you heard the news?”
Blake stared down. Even under his eyelashes, I could see the sadness. “A little bit. I loved my mother because she was the only person who was there while my father wasn’t. I just…can’t forgive her for killing herself like that. Wasting her own precious life just because of a man who clearly doesn’t love her.”
Adored, that’s what I felt when he spoke of his mother.
Hatred, that’s what I felt when he mentioned his father.
Disgusting, that’s what I felt…when he was telling me his past. Disgusted…with himself.
“I never met my father in person but when he passed away, he left a huge amount of money for me. Maybe he thought that I was going to be happy about it and hoping that I would forgive him for what he did to me and my mother. Unfortunately, it didn’t. Not even a bit. On the contrary, it fucking pissed me off.”
I could only continue to look at him. And by sensing his feeling. The mix of sadness, anger, hatred, and despair.
“I used the money to build the company that I have now. I thought I should use up all the money from him. I don’t want anything about him left in me.”
I was silent for a moment. Gathering up the courage to ask him something.
“Is that why you adopted me?”
Blake glanced back at me and even though it was just a little bit, his eyes softened. “Yes. I saw myself within you. I don’t want you to face the same fate just like me. You deserved happiness and that’s what I was trying to give you. You’re lucky because your mother adored you, unlike mine. Only a bastard father who has never visited his only girl. Although I also acted like an ass before.” I laughed at his statement.
“I know you wanted to know about my past, Olivia. And that’s how I started my life. It’s not as beautiful as you think. I’m happy living with my current family. They showed me how a true family was. I thought that’s how I wanted to give you.”
“You did your best, Blake. And I’m grateful for what you did. You are nothing like your father.”
Blake chuckled dryly. “I’m trying not to.” And that’s what he did. He never abandoned me. He saved me.
“Thank you for telling me all of this, Blake. You don’t need to remember your painful past anymore. I will try my best to give you the happiness that you deserved as well.”
“Thank you, Olive.”
I was so relieved.
I finally knew why he adopted me. Not just as a promise he made to my mother, but he didn’t want me to be like him. Blake had through too much. I hoped I could be a good daughter to him.
But there was something that I wanted to ask him.
“Blake?”
“Hm?”
“Can I ask you something?”
“Sure.”
“But, please don’t get offended by it.”
“What are you talking about? Just speak it up.”
Increasing my courage. Trying to calm down. And then… “Are you…dating someone now?”
Blake was staring blankly at me. And then he smirked. “Why you asked me that?”
“I’m curious. Maybe…you have found someone. You deserved your own happiness as well.”
“I had this feeling that you have asked me before and I’m going to say the same answer again. No, I’m not dating anybody. I don’t mind if I can’t get married and give you a mother since I…have my eyes on someone,” he admitted. Oh, my. Is he serious?
“Who is this person? How does she look?” I was so excited to talk about this topic. Blake never told me about this.
“She’s…bright, kind, innocent yet she’s so far away from my reach. She’s close yet I can’t have her.” While he was explaining this lucky woman, I could see the love in his eyes. Those soft and loving eyes. The kind of eyes that he would be given to this woman.
Maybe he was in love with someone from the office? And that was the reason he couldn’t have her? Probably so.
Or maybe the woman was in a relationship with someone else? Probably like his parents before and he was not going to do anything with it. He didn’t want to repeat the past.
At least, that was what I thought.

Blake
I felt rather relieved when I told Olivia about my past.
I thought she would pull away but she didn’t. She was thankful that I told her.
At least I could fool her for the time being.
That was not the only reason I adopted her. There was something else, something dark and twisted.
When we reached the ground, Olivia walked out first. Fuck, she looked so fucking beautiful in this dress. If people asked me why I chose that dress; because it was so easy to be ripped off. That was what I had in mind when I bought that dress.
How fucked up.
This little girl…was mine. My only woman to be taken care of and for me to love.
I hadn’t told her why I was so distant from her before. That was because I began to realize my feeling for her.
I realized as she grew up, Olivia had become more like an adult and mature. Beautiful as well and it was difficult for me to stay away. I couldn’t get rid of this dirty mind that I had on her.
Every time I saw her, I just wanted to kiss her and devoured her petite pink lips. Pushing my tongue inside as she moaned between our mouths. The last time I kissed her, I almost snapped. I was lucky because Olivia managed to run away from me. I didn’t want to think about what I was going to do if I succeeded capture her in her bedroom. I might be made her unable to walk for days and I would tie her up in her bed.
For now, I was going to protect her with all I had. Making sure that nobody hurt her, especially myself.
We approached my car and when Olivia was about to jump to the car, “Blake?” someone called out for me. A voice…that I was so fucking familiar with yet I tried to erase that from my mind.
I just wanted to convince myself that I heard it wrong and it was all my imagination. When I turned back, it was not a dream or my imagination anymore.
“Taylor?”
He smiled and slowly approaching me. Approaching us. “Long time no see! How’ve you been?” I didn’t say anything. I refused to have him here and it was just my first-day having a holiday with Olivia and he just showed up here.
Olivia.
No, he was going to ruin everything.
I immediately pushed Olivia into the car without Taylor had to see her first. I closed the door and by the time Taylor stood behind me. “Are you on a business trip?”
“No.” I turned to him. “I’m having a holiday.”
“I see. You’re with a woman, right? I supposed you don’t want me to see the beautiful lady.”
“You’re right. The woman is mine and you already have yourself a fiancé and I don’t want you playing around with some random woman.” Taylor laughed.
“I won’t do that. I have your sister with me and I have to admit that I like her, especially in bed.” Motherfucker!
I was holding myself when he said such a low thing about my sister. “Get out from my sight, Taylor. I don’t want to start a scene with you. And I don’t want to face Cindy’s wrath later.”
“I know you won’t. Well then, send my regards to your lovely lady,” he parted and walked away from me.
It was hard to not punched his disgusting face and made him bleed out. Perhaps I should just toss his body to the sea so nobody wouldn’t find him.
I didn’t expect to see him here and I was fucking grateful Olivia was inside the car.
Inhaling and exhaling, I tried to calm myself and when I just cooled down, I walked inside the car.
“You know him?”
“Yes, but I don’t want to talk about it.”
“Well, he’s the guy who saved me this afternoon.”
“I see.” So, she had met her father? What a mess.
I ignited the car and headed back to the hotel.
I hoped we wouldn’t see him again, especially…Olivia.
