Part 1 – Chapter 35

Olivia
It’d been three days since I came to Las Vegas with Blake.
I was enjoying my vacation here yet…I felt something different from Blake. Since our visit to the high roller; I felt Blake changed. He was quieter and he was like…incautious. Ever since he met the man who saved me.
When I recalled it again, Blake wasn’t really happy when he encountered him. There must be something going on between them that I had no idea about. I refused to ask him about it, afraid that I might make his mood even worse.
In order to avoid him, I was spending my day in the pool while enjoying the pool bar. I never did this before. Enjoying myself in the pool while the waiter brought me something to drink and even to eat. It would be enjoyable if I was served with wine but I remembered my age and the last thing I wanted to do…was getting into trouble with Blake.
Blake was currently in our room, probably reading a newspaper or checking his email. Although he said he didn’t want to be bothered with his works, he still checked his emails to make sure there wasn’t anything urgent. Whenever I caught him working; Blake would immediately put his phone away and pretending that he didn’t work which clearly, he was.
He was trying to make me enjoy the holiday.
“Hello there.” I immediately recognized the voice. I turned around and saw the man standing behind me.
“Oh, hello.”
“Are you alone again?”
I chuckled nervously. “Yes. My father is in the room; resting.” Not really though.
“Is your father that old and doesn’t have any strength left to accompany you?”
“No, not really. He’s still quite young but he’s busy with his works.”
“I see. That’s too bad for you but sometimes people couldn’t leave their works alone otherwise they wouldn’t get pay for it,” he explained. He was right though but I couldn’t bring myself to tell him that my father was the owner of his own company he was the one who paid the staff.
I looked at the man and realized that he was fully clothed. It seemed he was not here to swim. I wondered what he was doing here.
“By the way, I haven’t introduced myself,” he started and squatted next to me. He couldn’t exactly sit next to me because he was wearing jeans and he couldn’t put down his legs on the water just like me. “Taylor Graham. What’s yours?” he stated his name while extending his hand to me.
“Olivia.” I shook his hands. Come to think of it, I think I heard his surname before.
“I suppose I won’t seeing you again after today, Olivia,” he informed.
“Are you going home today?”
“Yes. I’ll be flying back to Seattle this evening.”
“I see. Are you working there?”
“No, I’m having another business meeting to attend to there. Although I was born and raised there.” Wow, this guy must be the same as Blake. A very important person in his company. “Have you ever visited Seattle?”
“No.”
“Well, you should be. Visiting other cities and countries while you’re still young.”
“I will but I’m still underage so I couldn’t fly anywhere I like without my father’s permission.”
“You keep saying your father, what about your mother?”
“She passed away when I was eleven.”
“Oh, I’m sorry. Well, I haven’t had a child of my own so I couldn’t understand how your father felt but I hope the best for both of you.”
“Thank you.” Perhaps I should enlighten his mood today. It sucked to see him in a bad mood. Although he didn’t show it to me, I could tell. I didn’t want our holiday ruined.
I looked back at Mr. Graham and realized that he was staring at me. He made me awkward with his stare. “Um, Mr. Graham?” I called out and he blinked.
He coughed out. “Excuse me. That was rude of me. It’s just…you look exactly like the person I knew.”
“I am?”
“Yeah, but maybe it’s just a coincidence.”
“Well, sometimes people could have their twin anywhere. Although we didn’t share the same blood our faces were the same,” I reasoned and he nodded his head.
“I agree with you. How old are you, Olivia?”
“I’m sixteen years old. Well, I will turn seventeen in September.” As soon as I said that, Mr. Graham formed a half-smile and he was looking down at the water. This time, he lost his smile.
“That’s impossible,” he murmured. He looked back at me again and his smile returned. He looked nicer when he smiled. He then patted my head. “You should enjoy your holiday with your father and also treasured him.”
I couldn’t hold myself to not smile at his words. “I will. He’s the only family I have.” That’s right. I would treasure him. He was important to me. More than anyone else.
“Olivia!” And then I heard him. I looked behind Mr. Graham and Blake…didn’t look happy at all. Moreover, he was furious. What’s going on with him?
“Blake.”
“Blake.”
I heard the two of us were calling him at the same time. Mr. Graham and I looked at each other. Confused about what happened. Well, I already knew Mr. Graham knew Blake but he looked like he didn’t expect me to know Blake as well. He looked back at Blake again and back to me. I saw Blake was moving fast to us and when Mr. Graham sensed his presence behind him, his face was showing the expression like a kid just found out about something.
What the hell is going on now?
Mr. Graham slowly stood up and faced Blake. “Is she the reason you didn’t allow me to see the woman you were bringing last night?” he asked mockingly but Blake didn’t say anything.
I could sense a bad feeling about this. I had to separate them or there was going to be a world war three that occurred in this hotel.
I brought my legs out from the water and stood up. I went to Blake’s side and I could feel it. Blake was furious. He was like a ticking bomb and I better take him out of here. I gently touched his arm. “Blake?” He didn’t move at all. He was glaring death at Mr. Graham and there was no sign that he was going to back away.
I tried to pull Blake away from that place but he didn’t budge a bit. “Olivia?” he called and I turned at him. “Is he your father?”
“Y-Yes.”
“I see.” He turned his brown eyes back at Blake. “I heard about it before but I never believed it. Now I have seen it. I get it now.”
“You stay the fuck away from us, especially Olivia,” Blake rudely threatened. I was confused and left me with some question marks of what the hell was going on.
“I won’t bother her. It’s you who are going to hurt her eventually,” he said while smirking. I could see Blake was ready to finish him off.
“Blake, please don’t.” I had to stop him to do whatever he was going to do.
“You should listen to your daughter, Blake.” And that was the only trigger he needed. Blake almost moved towards him but I managed to hold him. His chest was heaved; he was holding back his anger.
“No, Blake! Stop it! Remember where we are!” I hold him by wrapping my arms around his torso. Blake was slowly calming down. He wrapped his hand around my shoulder and pulled me away from Mr. Graham.
“it’s nice meeting you, Olivia,” he said as I sensed Blake became even angrier and pulling me harshly.
While we were waiting for the elevator, I couldn’t stand his anger anymore. Also!
He made me walk around with only a freaking bikini!
I pulled my hand from his grasp. I could feel the pain from it. He grabbed it too tight.
“What the hell is wrong with you?!” He didn’t react. “You almost made a scene there and you even made me walking around without any bathrobe.” Once he heard that, he was like just realized about it as he took off his jacket and wrapped it around my shoulder without saying anything. Well, thanks. But that doesn’t change anything.
Once the elevator arrived, Blake pulled me again and he pressed our floor button.
“Blake, what were you—”
“Don’t push me, Olivia!” he shouted. It shocked me because I never saw him this angry. He was even worse than our first fight.
“Blake, I don’t want to look for a fight with you. But, could you please explain what the hell were you doing back there?” I asked with a softer and lower tone. I was scared if I hit the wrong button and he would be angrier with me.
“…No.” And that was it. His only answer ended it all.
When we reached our floor, Blake pulled me again towards our room. He let me go after he made sure that I was already inside the room and he went to the kitchen. He grabbed the beer and drank a lot of it.
“You have to stay away from him,” he ordered.
“Why?”
“You don’t need to know the reason! You better fucking listen to me! I’m your father, Olivia! And you have to listen to me!” he shouted angrily. He was literally…pissed off. It scared me, but…
I didn’t do anything wrong.
He was angry but I was also annoyed by him.
“First of all, I didn’t do anything wrong and I just met that guy. He was the one who saved me,” I tried defending myself.
“It’s better if you fell to the pool rather than having him touching you,” he rudely said. What the fuck?!
Great, I was so pissed off. I better get out from here.
Without any words, I headed to my room. “Olivia,” I ignored him. I went inside the room and closed the door hard and locked it. I slumped myself to the bed as the tears dropped out of my eyes. “Olivia.”
“Leave me alone, Blake! I don’t want to talk to you.” He knocked again but I didn’t respond to him. I couldn’t hold back my tears anymore. I cried and sobbing badly.
“Olivia, please,” he called again. This time, his tone was softer than before. It didn’t make any difference and I continued to ignore him. “Olivia.”
“Please, Blake. I don’t want to say anything bad to you. Please, just leave me alone,” I begged once again. This time, I could hear his steps were walking away from me. Even leaving the room as I could hear the front door was being opened and closed.
It was supposed to be an enjoyable holiday yet he ruined it.
It wasn’t my fault.
I didn’t do anything wrong.
I didn’t know his relationship with Mr. Graham was that terrible. I hoped he could just explain to me so I won’t misunderstand him.
I wanted to know him better but he made it so difficult by acting like this. “Blake, you dumbass.”
I continued to cry. I didn’t even notice how many hours have passed. I just allowed the sleep to take over me so I could meet…
The dream version of Blake.
