Chapter 47

Book:Billionaire's Sweet Wife Published:2024-5-1

The viewpoint of Irene Nadine
“Why should I go with you when you go out to socialize?” I grumbled.
“You don’t have to do anything, just feed your stomach.”
I can’t help but decline, so the car has already stopped outside the business restaurant.
I timidly followed him inside the restaurant, but he tugged me forward, and I can’t retreat.
This is my first time attending such a formal event.
When we arrived, the big table was crowded with people and several dishes, but no one moved, as if waiting for Ryan Campbell.
Everyone stood up as soon as he walked in. “Ryan, why are you so late?” his assistant, Jeffrey Scott, frantically pulled his chair. “All are waiting for you!”
Ryan Campbell simply questioned, “Any opinion?” in hushed tones.
“No.” After muttering, Jeffrey Scott observed Ryan Campbell shove Irene Nadine into the chair and then sat down next to Irene Nadine.
After everyone had said hello, their gazes were drawn to Irene Nadine, and they speculated about the girl’s identity.
Ryan Campbell moved his attention to the business we discussed today without waiting for everyone to be suspicious, and everyone focused on talking about today’s cooperation.
Ryan Campbell took the lead in eating, and the rest followed suit, and I only ate in retrospect.
On such occasions, I always feel uneasy. I have no idea what they’re talking about. Ryan Campbell claims that I am only responsible for satisfying my stomach.
I was the only one who kept eating all the time, and I felt embarrassed to eat, but Ryan Campbell was busy talking with other people and didn’t pay attention to me, so I ate quietly.
I expected it to take a long time to depart when I was full. However, as soon as I put down the paper to wipe my lips, Ryan Campbell finalized the plan we discussed today and announced his intention to depart.
I began to believe Ryan Campbell had brought me here just for supper.
But who cares, I’ll just eat enough.
He simply handed the follow-up signing to Jeffrey Scott and other staff and directed me to depart first.
Everyone else is inquisitive about his relationship with Irene Nadine, but no one dares to gossip because of his status.
Ryan Campbell escorted me out of the room.
I was in a good mood when I started feeling down. “How did I humiliate you?” I asked, irritated. “I didn’t say anything.”
“Those may think I abused you at home,” he said slowly as he stepped in front of the elevator, pressed the button downstairs, and said Is it really that delicious?”
“You’re the one who pushes the dishes to me,” I whispered. I tried every dish, and every dish was amazing, so I ate even more. I don’t blame you for forcing me to eat!”
Ryan Campbell instinctively embraced my waist and entered the elevator . I uncomfortably avoided his hand, but he tightened it and softly gripped it around my waist. “So you can eat without gaining weight. Are you absorbing nutrients too well that the kid can not grab over you?”
“No! let me go!”
“You didn’t think of tying your hair all the way to dinner tonight, so you didn’t take what I said with confidence,” Ryan Campbell remarked, pulling me forward.
The elevator door unexpectedly opened before I could defend myself. Ryan Campbell and I were both dazed by the woman standing outside the elevator door, but I unconsciously pushed Ryan Campbell away and glanced at Kathy Clark, who was also stunned outside the elevator door.
Kathy Clark reacts immediately, steps into the elevator with another male, and asks Ryan Campbell, “Mr. Campbell,?”
Ryan Campbell simply glanced at the man,
Kathy Clark smiled and turned to face me. “Do you come here to work or to dinner?”
“Both.”
Kathy Clark smiled, but she was deeply sad on the inside.
“Mr. Campbell is so nice to you that Mr. Campbell treats you like a baby.”
I get what Kathy Clark is saying.
Ryan Campbell took the lead in walking out of the elevator with my arm around him. Despite the man next to her, Kathy Clark trotted up and said, “Mr. Campbell, I didn’t drive.” It’s raining again outside. Will you give me a ride?”
Ryan Campbell came to a halt and peered at the man standing behind Kathy Clark. “I believe this person should be willing to help,” he remarked with a smile.
“Don’t worry, Mr. Campbell,” the man responded with a smile. I’ll bring Ms. Clark safely home.”
