Rona entered with a lunchbox before I could answer.
Maybe she didn’t ask this time since I’d denied her so frequently.
“Stephan Buther, come sample this sandwich. It smells delicious.”
She gave me the sandwich with hot cheeks and eager eyes.
I answered dryly, “Thanks for visiting.”
She wrung her hands and blushed.
I smelled nothing as I held up her sandwich.
Why can’t I smell what you said smells good?
Rona stopped talking and covered her lips.
I hadn’t scented in days.
I couldn’t smell anything despite my efforts.
Seeing her look made me doubt the crisis was transient.
“I was afraid you’d go mad if I informed you. We’re werewolves, and scent is vital. I’m sorry-”
I couldn’t stand her babbling.
“I’ve eaten breakfast. I’m not hungry. Go.”I removed the lunchbox.
Rona was surprised, but she ignored me.
She covered her lunchbox carefully, like she didn’t want to go.
“I’m not abandoning Stephan Buther because he lost his sense of smell. And Mom will heal.”
Rona meant well, yet she made me feel worse.
My remarks appeared to trigger Rona because she instantly wrapped her arms around me.
She kissed me as she said.
I shoved her away.
“Rona, you know I’ve lost my memories. I can’t accept . Please wait.”
Rona hurried out of the wardafter hearing this.
Unexpectedly, I dropped a package at the door.
Whoa! I lifted it.
A gold ring was within.
Was this Rona’s ring? Unbelievable!
Even a gold ring! Had I loved her?.
I felt something unexplainable as I inspected the gold ring.
I felt like I’d forgotten someone or something essential when a figure flashed into my memory. Rona returned.
Her despair faded when she saw my gold ring.
“What a nice surprise!”I forgot I had it.
Rona snatched the ring from me but couldn’t wear it.
After attempting to remove the ring, she embarrassingly gave it to me.
I repacked it.
The ring made me consider my connection with Rona while I talked.
Why wasn’t this ring her size if we were?
Rona continued declaring her love as we went.
I decided to stop and explain things to her.
“Rona, I believe we should reassess our relationship. Although you claim we loved each other previously, I don’t feel the same way. I’m not in love with you. We won’t be happy if we continue like this.”
I dropped the topic because she persisted.
I returned to the room and saw a nurse replacing my mother’s infusion bottle.
“What are you doing?”
She said, “We’re infusing Mrs. S Buther.”
“Wait,” I told the nurse.
“What’s this medicine? Why wasn’t I told?”
Rona’s POV:
Stephan Buther stepped in front of me, prepared to end our relationship.
My heart stopped.
Daina, that b*tch, may have transformed him. He had forgotten her.
Oku’s plot to kill Elizabeth must be underway.
I followed Stephan Buther inside the ward.
The nurse was ready to poison Elizabeth. But Stephan Buther stopped her.
I rushed to Stephan Buther’s side to explain when the plan fell apart.
“Stephan Buther, don’t worry. The nurse is taking wonderful care of Mom. I’m sure she simply needs IV fluids, and maybe this is medication for her. Don’t worry too much. Just trust the medical professionals.”
Stephan Buther ignored me and questioned the nurse.
Tell me about the drugs you planned to give my mother.
The nurse was so scared she almost collapsed.
“It’s simply IV fluid, Mr. Buther.”
Stephan Buther didn’t believe it and snatched the nurse’s syringe.
“If it’s for my mother, obtain my permission first, otherwise I’ll punish you all.”
As he talked, he looked at the so-called medication and grimaced.
“This isn’t IV fluid. It’s not even nutritional. Call the hospital’s head doctor.”
Why was Stephan Buther so cautious? I anxiously chewed my bottom lip.
I secretly messaged Oku while watching the scenario.
Stephen Buther has called for the chief doctor. What should we do?
I waited impatiently for Oku’s response before seeing the main doctor arrive.
Stephan Buther urged the doctor to test the drug, and he consented.
Test results were released afterwards.
The pill contained enough sodium cyanide to kill Elizabeth.
Stephan Buther’s face became crimson with wrath as he saw the findings.
“If I hadn’t made it, my mother would’ve died,” he claimed.
“Killing the queen mother is a serious crime. I’ll investigate promptly to find out who intends to murder her.”
Doctors and nurses bowed in dread.
“Mr Buther, we are innocent! I was going to give Mrs. Buther regular medication. I don’t know what happened! Please forgive us!”
Stephan Buther disregarded their pleading and summoned his attendants into the ward. When they came, he was still enraged.
“Study the hospital surveillance tapes. This is the most lethal poison. Keep it as proof,”
Buther told his staff.
I heard he would have hisminions care for Elizabeth at his home.
“She’s only safe this way.”
I realized things were out of hand.
After Elizabeth was transported, Stephan Buther waited for his attendants’ inquiry conclusions.
I followed.
“Stephan Buther, it was terrifying. I’m glad you acted quickly. I hope Mom’s alright.”
“Rona, don’t you have anything else to do? I have to travel to the Moonlight Pack tomorrow to attend the 10th anniversary of the Alpha’s ascension on behalf of the Rosryal family. I don’t have the stamina to cope with you.”
Stephan Buther would also attend? If he met Daina…
“WTF, Oku? Why aren’t you preventing Stephan Buther from attending? Well, Stephan Buther doesn’t remember Daina, so I suppose I’m safe.”
I’d want to see Daina’s expression when she realizes he forgot her.
“I’m going to the ceremony, too. Let’s go together?”
“Fine. But don’t cling to me like glue. I’m busy with work. Please understand.”
“Sorry, Stephan Buther. I won’t interfere with your job from now on.”
I wouldn’t let Daina near him as long as I was there.
Stephan Buther accompanied Elizabeth’s attendants.
I gazed at his back. What could I do? He told me to go.
When I saw Elizabeth still alive, I was so outraged that I stomped my foot.
