His presence was terrifying.
He’s horrible! Maria greeted me despite my angry stare.
“Daina, congratulations! I never believed you’d become Mr. Stephan Buther’s mate. I’m sure your parents, are beaming from heaven,” he added loudly, as if she wanted to tell everyone my identity.
I heard murmurs as they started talking about my family.
“Was Daniel the late Alpha of Moonlight Pack, and Daina of Green Woods?”
Maria clasped my hand and smiled maliciously.
“Remember when we were kids and I wanted to go close to you but couldn’t?
Oku interrupted as I started to reply.
“You’re longtime friends? Then why didn’t you approach Daina?”
Maria blurted out, “She’s terrible luck. Anyone who gets near to her will suffer, maybe even die. The previous Alpha and Luna of the Moonlight Pack perished because of her!”
Maria covered her lips in faux amazement when the crowd erupted.
“I only heard that Daina and Stephan Buther were getting engaged, so I came to bless her. I didn’t mean anything else!”
She wasn’t sorry despite her statements.
She gloated at my misery. I knew she came to smear me.
My marriage to Stephan Buther was in danger if they believed Maria.
She and her family had done so much wrong, but they slandered my name.
Maria has departed. Like she’d returned to torment me.
My fingernails sank into my flesh as I tightened my hands.
Buther sensed my emotions. He squeezed my hand.
I understood.
Oku’s POV:
It made me laugh to see Daina and Stephan Buther so frustrated at her dinner.
I was surprised my strategy went so perfectly.
Thanks to Eden and Maria. They hated Daina as much as I did, or more.
I needed to safeguard my reign from Stephan Buther and Daina’s marriage announcement.
When Maria said Daina was unlucky, feast attendees murmured.
Even Stephan Buther’s supporters appeared apprehensive.
They all questioned Daina.
Rona crouched behind Elizabeth, looking afraid. Huh! Rona cooperated.
I alone knew she wasn’t terrified.
I quietly asked her, “How do you feel witnessing Daina suffer?”
Rona said, “I believe she hasn’t suffered enough. I’ll show her true anguish.”
Elizabeth fought to regain control as we laughed.
Her voice was lost in the throng as she sought to calm the elders.
I told Rona, “Let’s see. The best is yet to come.”
She looked confused when I asked my servant to bring in some werewolves.
Daina needs a lesson.
As the crowd’s yells went down, I asked Daina, “Is what Maria said true? If you bring misfortune to others, then you and Stephan Buther can’t be together. The Rosryal family must be cautious when choosing partners so as not to impact the Rosryal family’s fate.”
Angry werewolves attacked Daina before she could protect herself.
In a moment, Daina was encircled and thrown back and forth. Everything was going according to plan.
Daina was pushed out of the dinner hall.
Stephan Buther stood between them and her, extending out his arm.
He yelled, “What are you doing?”
Stephan Buther’s imposing demeanor was clearly terrifying. “This is the Rosryal dinner hall, not a place to throw tantrums. If anybody damages Daina, I will severely punish them. You’d best not take another step forward, or I will teach you a lesson.”
werewolves froze in dread. Elizabeth suddenly came . She defended Daina.
Many people calmed down while she talked, which was horrible for me.
My efforts would be wasted. I needed to get them fighting again.
Stephan Buther w said, “I’m going to marry her I don’t care about her background. Moon Goddess matched us. I believe in her arrangement.”
Stephan Buther’s comment shifted the conversation.
“If Mrs. Stephan say so, it’s true.”
“The Moonlight Pack’s Alpha is lying, right?”
I urgently stared at Eden, and he moved forward.
“An elder in the Moonlight Pack can tell the future. He once said that Daina was a jinx, but her parents refused to accept it. They insisted on keeping her. Now both of her parents are dead, and her uncle is missing.”
In order to keep the Moonlight Pack alive, I had to take control and push Daina away. Although I wish Daina well, I’m more concerned about the Rosryal family, which is why I’m being honest with you.
Eden acted well.
I would have believed him if I didn’t know the reality. Both sides were deadlocked. I coughed to cause more pandemonium.
Since you all have different viewpoints, let’s have the Rosryal family’s future-predicting elder check Edenr’s remarks.
Stephan’s pov
“I don’t trust their statements.”I glared at my elders.
“Better safe than sorry, Stephan Buther. We won’t let a jinx join the Rosryal family,” one added.
Eden and Maria wrecked everything. I knew Moonlight Pack Alpha Edenr. I knew he caused much of Daina’s pain.
Daina’s attitude altered once he arrived.
Losing family was painful, let alone having it reappear.
I reassured Daina, “I’ll always be with you.”
Daina sobbed, “Stephan Buther murdered my father.”My heart ached as I saw her ready to cry.
“He’ll pay,”
I warned Daina I wouldn’t allow a werewolf live blissfully for long.
I didn’t understand why Oku brought Eden and Maria, whom I’d previously pushed out.
First, I must safeguard Daina and deal with Maria and her father.
How could she call Daina a jinx while feigning ?
Eden’s slander nevertheless influenced many werewolves.
Daina was considered a jinx.
With Oku’s intervention, more werewolves wanted to expel Daina out of the Rosryal family.
I said, “I’ll marry Daina. I don’t need your permission.”
Mom supported me.
Daina cried.”Thank you,” she muttered.
I knew Daina’s background. She wanted to proclaim Eden’s guilt, but she had no evidence.
We have to remain firm. We comforted Daina in quiet.
Two groups attended the dinner.
Elders who normally backed me now defend Daina. Other elders were keen about avoiding a jinx.
Their argument seemed plausible.
“If she’s jinxed, she can’t marry .”
Can you prove she’s a jinx, or are you just believing a rumor?
Both sides were deadlocked.
“Oku, I’ve never heard of a Rosryal family member who can foretell the future.
Oku became enraged and pointed at Daina.
“If you don’t want to be checked, don’t marry Stephan Buther if you’re a jinx!”
Daina’s pov
As Eden distorted the history and caused chaos at the feast, I became furious.
I was so enraged I wanted to rip off his hypocritical mask.
I want to inform everyone that he’s a traitor and stabbed my father, the former Alpha, in the back, but I can’t.
Without proof of his wrongdoing, I had to keep quiet.
