Emily and Jax wait for others to leave before Jax begins to talk to her.
“You seem lost back then, were you worried about something?” Jax raises in concern.
“Worried? About what?”
“You know that Crescent Moon pack is one of the highest ranked packs that will be invited for the festival. Louis and Katherine will be in attendance, are you okay with that?”
Emily gasps when it comes to her mind that Jax is making a point, Louis and Katherine will be there. Her breakup with Louis will be officially known by everyone, will her heart be able to handle the outcome of it?
Jax reasoned this too, his concern for Emily increases as he does not know what to do if the situation gets out of hand. That’s why he wants to talk to her first and see if she’s okay with it.
“I think I can handle it. It’s a mask festival so no one will be able to recognize me,” Emily replies.
“But what if Louis recognizes you?”
Emily chuckles, “That’s impossible, Jax. He won’t recognize me and besides, I won’t stay close to him. I’ll keep my distance from him until he leaves.”
Jax is relieved that Emily is okay with Louis being there, it shows that she has truly moved on with Conrad which he is happy to know.
“I’m glad that you’re happy now,” Jax says to her.
“Conrad is the best man I’ve known,” Emily compliments him.
Jax and Emily return to the pack house today, they meet Conrad in the kitchen with an apron tied to his waist.
“Emily, you’re back,” Conrad says when he sees them.
“Yes, did you make something for me?” she asks, they kiss passionately and Jax clears his throat to announce that he’s still there.
“I’ll be going to my room before you two lovebirds kill him with your passion,” Jax announces and leaves them to be lovey-dovey with each other.
“I made pasta for you, wanna try it?”
“Of course.”
Emily takes a spoonful, she lets out a satisfied sigh, “So yummy!”
Conrad encourages her to eat more by adding more servings to her plate, he has noticed how healthier she looks since they started dating. It only means one thing – Emily is happy with him. He promises to focus solely on her once he’s done with his investigation of Freya’s case.
“How did the meeting go?”
“Awesome, the mask festival will be held in two days,” she informs him.
Conrad is not happy to hear that, he knows that Louis will be in attendance. He is scared that this might ruin his chances of being happy with Emily, she might decide to break up with him after seeing Louis.
“You don’t look happy about that?” Emily observes.
“Because I know that Louis will be there. I’m scared that his presence might downcast our relationship and ruin everything for us,” Conrad expresses his frustration.
Emily giggles softly, “Louis is not going to ruin anything. Besides I’m not going to meet him physically since it’s a mask festival, I’ll keep my distance from him.”
Conrad sighs in relief but his mind is still unsettled, he has known Louis since childhood. Louis is a jealous man, he might have his eyes on Emily once he sees how happy she is without him.
Emily, still noticing the uneasiness in Conrad’s face, stands up and kisses him softly on his lips.
“You don’t have to be worried about that, Conrad. The past is the past, we are in the present. You and I will make a glamorous relationship, don’t you believe that?”
“I do, Emily, I do.”

Freya is excited that her body has fully recovered from the injury she had sustained, the bruises her still visible on her body but with the help of the ointment she collected from Doctor Nathan, they will disappear soon.
She gladly went back to Sarah’s place. In her mind, she has already decided to stay back in the pack and serve in a more secure environment that is closer to the pack house. The northern border is no longer open for her to go back again, Freya feels like she has been freed from a nightmare.
The first person she meets as she enters Sarah’s apartment is Nox. He is standing like an idiot with his eyes looking sad, Sarah and Freya dislike him. His personality looks like that of an imbecile, Sarah is only dating him to keep her status intact. That is how she got the job of being an advisor to the Alpha, Freya envies Sarah.
Although she is holding on to a promise from Sarah to put her in a good position as soon as her plan works, that plan is why Freya is here.
“Are you here to see Sarah?” Nox asks.
“Obviously,” Freya snorts and walks past him.
Sarah comes out of the bathroom with a towel around her chest, she screams excitedly when she sees Freya in good health.
“You look better, Freya!”
“The bruises are still there but there’s an ointment to clear them,” Freya says.
Sarah takes Freya to the balcony, she doesn’t want Nox to hear of the plans she formulated.
“I have so much good news for you. Firstly, the mask festival will be held!”
Freya is not excited about it, after all, she is not invited. Sarah nudges her playfully.
“I thought you would be happy to hear that.”
“What’s the point? I won’t be able to attend,” Freya mumbles.
“Listen, this is a good opportunity to take out Emily and have Conrad to yourself. I have a plan on how to do that,” Sarah whispers.
Freya’s eyes spark interest, “What are your plans?”
“We will drug Emily and set her up with a good-for-nothing, then we will alert the guests and publicly humiliate her, it will be issued as a scandal and she will be banished from our pack.”
Freya smiles at her plans, the plot is very intriguing and she is already imagining herself doing it.
“I like that,” Freya agrees.
“I will keep a waitress spot for you. Buy a wig to cover your hair, we will proceed with the plans without waiting for signals.”
“That one is sorted out now, how are we going to handle Nox?”
Sarah hisses, “Alpha Jax will be organizing a bridal competition soon and I’ll be contesting. Once I win, our lives will change for the better, and Nox will be out of my life.”
Freya nods in excitement, everything is set in motion. Emily should prepare for her downfall this time around.
