Jax half limps into the new room for the meeting with his council of advisors. So far, there are four of them and Jax is completely okay with that. They stand up to greet him when he walks in, and Jax nods for them to sit down.
“The reason why I’ve organized this council of advisors is because I want to have trusted officials that I can relate with. Important pieces of information will be analyzed here before being announced publicly, I hope that this committee will have a strong influence in this pack.”
“You can be assured that we are capable of handling this committee well, Alpha Jax,” Bill speaks first.
Emily simply nods in agreement, she is still perplexed as to why she is part of this committee. Her heart warms when she thinks that her cousin trusts her so much that he has put the affair of the pack in her hands, Emily is overwhelmed by this. But she is worried that others might see her differently, so far, Bill has been the only friendly one here. The others acted as if she was a threat to their existence.
“Permission to raise a question, Alpha?” Sarah raises her finger.
“Go on,” Jax grants.
“I thought that the council of advisors would consist of the people who are from Moon bearers pack, so then what is this blonde lady doing here?”
Emily is not surprised that she raised the question, Sarah and Nox have been acting strangely towards her since she entered the room.
“Emily is my cousin, therefore she has every right to be here. Do you have any problem with that?” Jax retorts.
Sarah shakes her head and fakes a smile, “Not at all.”
Sarah is a close friend of Freya. She and Freya became acquainted at a young age, she even took Freya as her kid sister since she was older than her. When Freya told her about Emily and Conrad, Sarah was enraged to learn that her sister and friend were heartbroken. Seeing that Emily is a part of the council of advisors, she is annoyed and wants her out. Nox is her boyfriend, he supports her in whatever she does.
Jax begins the meeting, “We have two issues that need to be addressed. First and foremost, the upcoming mask festival. The Moon Bearers pack will be hosting the festival this year and we can’t fail to deliver exceedingly. What are your thoughts on this?”
“But Alpha Jax, you are not fit to walk around for long. How are you going to cope with standing up for hours during the festival? Remember that the festival will be of no benefit if you don’t attend it, I suggest we cancel it for the time being,” Nox suggests.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea to cancel the festival,” Emily objects. Sarah and Nox glare at her angrily but she ignores their death stares.
“I agree with Emily here,” Bill adds.
Emily thanks Bill silently for being an honest man.
“Why do you think the festival should go on?” Jax asks.
“If we cancel it, the other packs will be aware of what is going on in our pack. Enemy packs will see this as an opportunity to strike and we may not be prepared for it. If the host the party, an excuse will be given for your health and you will not have to stand for hours during the festival,” Emily replies.
“You can sit while the festival is going on, I believe that it is not compulsory to stand during the festival,” Bill adds.
Sarah snorts loudly, irritated that Bill is taking sides with Emily.
“Any other suggestions?” Jax asks.
Everyone is quiet, Sarah nudges Nox to say something but the latter is out of ideas. He wants the festival to hold but it seems that Sarah wants to go in contrary to anything Emily says. He dislikes being involved in women’s issues but Sarah won’t let him be. Jax takes their silence as an agreement with Emily, he would have held the festival even if none of them agreed. He only wanted their opinions, but Emily and Bill gave him a perfect reason to hold the festival.
“It is decided, that the festival will be held in the next two days. As soon as this meeting is over, letters of invitation are expected to be delivered to the prestigious Alphas of high packs. The second issue is about coronating a Luna for this pack.”
Emily sighed when she heard Jax say that, she thought he had listened to her. It seems he has other plans in mind, she feels so bad for Iris. What if the woman has feelings for Jax too?
Emily puts Iris in the condition she had been in, watching the man she loves as he gets married to another woman. The pains of watching them together while you’re left in a shrunken state of mind, how would one cope with such challenges?
It took her every strength to refrain from choking Katherine to death, Emily has never accepted herself to be a weakling. She was not bred as an omega, her status as a werewolf is among the highest ranks after Alphas and Betas. The reason why she backed down easily was because her heart was shattered by the announcement, she had to nurse her wounds.
But if there was a way to reopen the chapter, Emily swears she would fight till her last breath.
“Emily?” Jax calls for her attention.
Emily realizes that she is lost in her thoughts, “I’m sorry. What were you saying?”
“I asked you what you thought about the second issue?” Jax repeats.
“If getting married is the best for you, then you can go ahead and pick a bride after the festival. Although I think a bridal competition will probably help in choosing someone who will be more responsible,” Emily says.
On hearing about the bridal competition, Sarah quickly chirps in, “Yes! A bridal competition is the best, I agree with Emily on this one.”
Bill and Nox nod in agreement, although Nox is beginning to feel uneasy with how sweet Sarah suddenly sounds. Is she interested in this bridal competition?
Sarah sees this as an opportunity to have the Alpha to herself, she might be dating Nox but her eyes are only for Alpha Jax.
“Then the final decision has been made, a bridal competition will be held after the festival. The winner will be my bride, meeting dismissed.”
As Emily is about to leave, Jax calls her back.
“Can I see you alone for a minute or two?”
