Chapter Forty-Five
Fiona’s POV:
“Oh, what did you do?” I asked inaudibly and already in tears.
“Oh, you care to see?” He asked.
“Look,” Alexander said with his phone in my face.
“Oh no,” I said on seeing the photo.
Whitman was badly injured, and he looked unconscious and helpless on the floor.
“What did you do to her, Alex?” Uncle Victor asked as he saw me sitting on the floor crying.
He could have probably heard me scream.
“I just taught her a lesson,” Alexander told him.
“He hit me, Uncle,” I told him.
“Why would you do such a thing, Alex? She is going to be your wife for God’s sake,” his father said.
“I needed to show her who is in charge here,” Alexander replied.
“You are so mean,” I said, crying.
“It is great that you know now,” Alexander said as he walked away, leaving me on the floor.
“Await your downfall, Alex,” I told myself silently.
Alexander’s POV:
“Alex, would you stop there? I am still talking to you,” Father said as he followed behind.
“Why would you hit, Fiona?” he asked me.
“She pissed me,” I said.
“So, is that enough reason for you to hit her, leaving her in such a state?” he asked.
“Oh, Dad, cut me some slack. I watched you hit Mom several times, and you did not even bother,” I told him.
“Now you are trying to make me look like the devil,” I said.
“Do not speak to me like that,” Dad said as he slapped me.
“I am sorry, Dad,” I apologized immediately, and he left.
Fiona’s POV:
“Oh my God, Fiona,” Eleanor came to my room later.
“I saw what Alexander did to you,” she said.
“I feel so sorry for you,” she told me.
“He will pay for what he did to me,” I told Eleanor.
“For sure, he would,” Eleanor said.
“I have everything with me on tape,” Eleanor told me.
“Thank you, Eleanor,” I said.
“Everything will be on air by tomorrow,” Eleanor said.
“But this is capable of destroying our plans, right?” I asked Eleanor.
“No. Besides, you always have your way around things,” Eleanor told me.
“It would only keep his hands off you, for some time,” she added.
“I wondered what had become of Whitman,” I said.
“I would check up on him immediately to get out of here,” Eleanor said.
“And I will let you know once I do that,” Eleanor told me.
“Thank you. you are just an angel,” I said, hugging her.
“Did you say Alexander gave this phone to you?” Eleanor asked me.
“Yeah, after he thrashed mine,” I told her.
“He must have cloned your phone,” she said.
“Let me take a look,” Eleanor said as she took my phone.
“I said it! Your phone is cloned,” she told me.
“He did this, so he can track everything you do and every conversation you make,” Eleanor said.
“I thought as to why I did not do a lot with it,” I replied.
“Here,” she handed my phone over.
“I have fixed it,” Eleanor said.
“See you tomorrow, sis,” she said again.
“Be safe,” Eleanor said with a hug.
The next day, I received a call from Eleanor.
“Yeah, I got to see him, but he is badly injured and, in the ICU,” she told me over the phone.
“Oh no!” I said in pain.
“But I will make sure I keep an eye on him till he gets out of here,” Eleanor assured me.
“I trust you. Thank you,” I told her and hung up.
“Fiona,” I heard Uncle Victor call me.
“Come here, darling,” he said.
I went to meet him, and I was greeted by a large group of press people.
“Why are they here?” I whispered, asking Uncle Victor, feigning ignorance.
“They want to speak with you,” he said as he directed me to meet them.
“There is a viral video of you being abused by your husband-to-be. What do you have to say about that?” The first person asked me, followed by tons of questions from others.
“My fiancée did not abuse me. That video you see there is fake,” I told them.
“It was probably photoshopping,” I added.
“I love my fiancée a lot. It is just people who do not like seeing us together that are trying to break the bond that we share,” I told the press.
“What do you have to say about Mr. Whitman’s health?” They asked again.
“It is okay, Fiona. Let us go inside now,” Uncle Victor told me.
“I am so sorry,” I said, crying, as I went into the room.
“I could not even defend the love we share,” I said.
Uncle Victor’s POV:
“Alex, do you now realize the gravity of what you have done?” I asked him.
“I am sorry, dad. I did not know what came over me,” Alexander told me.
“Being sorry would not fix your problems now. Instead, it has turned everyone’s attention to you,” I told him.
“You need to do something about it,” I told him.
“Some men and a woman are here to meet you, sir,” the housekeeper announced.
“I am not ready to meet anyone now,” I answered.
“But they insist that they must see you, sir,” the housekeeper said.
“Okay, you can tell them that I will be with them shortly,” I replied.
“I will be with you shortly, son,” I told Alexander and left.
“Good day,” I greeted them.
“Good day, sir,” they echoed.
“We are here to investigate a case of domestic violence,” they said, revealing their badges.
They are the cops.
“I am sorry to tell you but nothing about that happened here,” I told them.
“Okay but we would love to speak to Miss Fiona,” the woman said.
“Sure. I would get her here,” I replied and left.
“Oh my God. I don’t know what I am going to do with that boy, Alexander,” I said under my breath and left.
“Fiona!” I called.
“Some people need to speak with you. The cops,” I told her.
Immediately, she came to meet me.
“What do they want this time, Uncle?” Fiona asked me.
“I guessed they saw the video, which went viral…” I answered.
“Fiona, I trust you will not bring this family down,” I told her.
“Sure, Uncle,” Fiona replied.
