Chapter Thirty-Nine
Fiona’s POV:
“Give me back my phone. I would not let you take it away from you,” I told Alexander.
“I would get you a new phone,” he replied.
“We are trashing this one,” Alexander said as he walked away.
“Gosh!” I exclaimed painfully.
“I probably enabled this by coming with this nitwit,” I said quietly to myself.
“I need to find a way to get out of here, but I would have to be smart about it this time,” I told myself.
I sat in the same position for several hours and I ended up sleeping in the same spot.
“Here you go,” Alex said as he handed over a box.
“What is that?” I asked him.
“Open it up and stop asking me questions,” Alexander replied scornfully.
I opened it up and it was a brand-new phone.
“What did you do to my phone?” I asked him.
“I threw it away,” he said with no remorse.
“You did what?” I asked in disbelief.
“You heard me. I threw it away,” he said again.
“Do you know how important that phone was to me?” I asked him.
“Like I said, I threw it away and there is nothing you can do about it, not now,” he told me.
“Your wedding dress will be coming in today, get ready,” Alexander said and he walked off.
“I thought I was supposed to go out and get those by myself?” I asked him.
“Oh, see who is willing to get married now,” Alexander said as he returned.
“Nope, sorry to disappoint you but I do not take chances,” he told me as he walked off finally.
Later that day, I had a conversation with Alexander, to make things right.
“Can I talk to you please?” I asked him.
“Okay,” he answered uninterestedly.
“I feel really bad that we started on a bad note,” I started.
“I mean, if I had not been with you that day, dressed seductively, we would have been really good friends now,” I told Alex.
“I think that as intending couples, we should at least make amends,” I added.
“And probably start on a good note,” I said again.
“So, you know that you seduced me that day and your brother tried to kill me?” Alexander asked me.
“Yes, and I am deeply sorry for our actions,” I pleaded.
“I can’t imagine how bad I feel. I need you to forgive me please,” I replied to Alexander.
“Thank you for the new phone, babe,” I told him.
“You’re welcome,” he replied, and I left awaiting Uncle Victor’s return.
Uncle Victor got home that evening and he looked stressed and stayed back for some time to observe his mood.
“He might get angry on seeing you, Fiona,” I told myself.
“Uncle,” I started as I went to meet Uncle Victor.
“I got you orange juice, please accept,” I begged him.
He accepted but was skeptical about it.
“I am so sorry for trying to disrupt the trust you had for me,” I told him.
“I was just ignorant but now I know better,” I apologized.
“You know me and your father, we were very good friends, but life happened,” Uncle Victor said.
“I understand you Uncle,” I affirmed.
“Dad was too uptight when he was here. Besides, the business world is evolving by the day,” I said.
“You cannot be archaic, otherwise you will be booted out of the business,” I added.
“Now this is one reason I liked you since you were little,” Uncle Victor told me.
“You are very smart,” he complimented.
“Thank you, Uncle,” I appreciated.
“Staying around you would make me smarter,” I said blushing.
“Thank you for accepting me back, Uncle, and loving me once more,” I told him happily.
“I need to go prepare. My wedding dress will arrive soon,” I said again, and I left.
The wedding gown came alongside the designer.
“Oh my God, this is so beautiful,” I commented on seeing the gown.
“Yes, but you need to try it on now,” she told me.
“Sure,” I replied.
“The waist area feels tight,” I told her.
“Yes, I can see that. There is no way we can even zip up,” she added.
“But I think the shoulder area is a miss for me,” I said again.
“Can we change that about it?” I asked her.
“Okay, there is a different design, but you would have to come with me to the store,” the young lady said.
“I think you will make a good choice if we get there,” she added.
Meanwhile, Alexander has been with us all through. He sat in the same position since she came without even flinching.
“No, she is not going anywhere with you,” Alexander interrupted our conversation.
“You should get it here. I can pay double for your inconvenience,” he told her.
“But babe, I need to be there to get the perfect gown for the wedding,” I told him.
“Please,” I pleaded with him.
“Fine, but I would have someone go with you,” Alexander agreed reluctantly.
“I love you, babe,” I said as he walked away.
“I will meet you in five minutes. I need to get properly dressed,” I told her.
We arrived at the store, and it had to be the most beautiful bridal store I have ever seen.
“This place is so beautiful,” I complimented.
“Thank you. It is one of its kind in the whole city,” she added.
We got to the business we had at hand immediately.
“Someone wants to meet you, ma’am,” the saleswoman announced to me.
“Who is that?” I asked her.
“He is sitting by the lounge,” she said.
“He?” I asked.
“Yes,” she replied, nodding her head.
“Thank you,” I appreciated.
I sneaked to go into the lounge without being seen by Ken, or else I would be in big trouble.
“Hi,” I said as he pulled me aside.
“Fiona,” Whitman said.
“How did you find me?” I asked him.
“I would do anything for you, you know,” he said.
“What do you…?” he asked me.
“They did nothing to me,” I told him.
“Where did she go?” I heard Ken ask the saleswoman and he approached the lounge.
“How do I leave here without him seeing me Whitman?” I wondered with my eyes wide with fear.
