Chapter Thirty-Eight
Alexander’s POV:
“Surprised to see me?” I asked her, grinning.
“Finally, we come to the end of the game,” I said.
“Yes. It is the end of our hide-and-seek game,” I told her, smiling.
“Hi, Thomas,” I said as I waved at Fiona’s brother, Thomas.
“What are you doing here, Alexander?” Thomas asked me.
“Are you not happy to see me?” I asked him, still smiling.
“Oh my God. My ten thousand dollars paid off, finally,” I said again.
“I am here to take you all to have the biggest family reunion ever and I am not asking,” I said.
“We are not ready to have that family reunion, Alexander,” Fiona told me.
“I think you would have to leave now,” Fiona told me sternly.
“Wow. Seems you finally regained your voice,” I complimented.
“Oh no,” I told her.
“We have unfinished business,” I said again.
“You think you can run forever after you tricked me and my father?” I asked Fiona.
“I guess your time is up now,” I told her.
“My time up?” she asked me while giggling.
“It was my father’s company and anything I do with it is none of your business,” Fiona said.
“Oh. Sorry to let you know, but it is much more different than you think because my father gave that company back to you,” I told her.
“The same company he killed my father to have?” she asked me.
“I am not here to debate,” I told her.
“I need you to get your things, so we get out of here,” I said again.
“I am being diplomatic now. Do not push me, Fiona,” I commanded her.
Fiona’s POV:
At this point, I was skeptical and not sure of what I was supposed to do. I did not know what he was going to do with his mother and even Thomas.
“So do you want me to leave my family behind?” I asked him.
“I have nothing to do with them. I only have business with you,” Alexander told me.
“But I cannot leave them behind,” I said.
“They have to come with me,” I insisted.
“Ken!” he called.
“Come and take her away,” he told the other man.
We got to the dreadful mansion again. Seeing this same mansion made my stomach twitch.
“Well done, Alexander,” Uncle Victor said happily as we got into the house.
“I wonder what he is happy about,” I wondered irritably.
“Her skin still looks okay. Do not tell me you brought it like this,” he said.
“Or were you just being a gentleman?” he asked.
“I had no time for that. Besides, I should not be treating my wife that way,” Alexander said with a smirk on his face.
“Oh, Alexander. I trained you well,” his father said.
“You should be grateful that I did not get her before you,” Uncle Victor warned Alexander and left.
“Be grateful that I saved you,” he said.
Whitman called me several times that day, he had probably heard the news.
I felt so clueless and helpless that I started crying.
“Oh my God. My woman is crying,” Alexander said sarcastically as he walked in again.
“You know what?” I spoke.
“The first time I met you I held you in high respect. It felt like there was something different and special about you,” I continued.
“I wanted to feel very much comfortable with you even though I was not,” I said.
“I know that this is not who you are. You are better than this Alex,” I told him as he interrupted.
“You know nothing about me, and you cannot tell me who I am. This should be the last time you tell me something of this sort,” Alexander said seriously this time.
“Suit yourself, Alex,” I told him.
Uncle Victor’s POV:
Alexander made me proud today. It shows that I can easily trust him with my business.
“Alexander,” I called him.
“We need to talk soon,” I said out loud.
“You know how smart that girl can be,” I told Alexander as he sat on the sofa.
“I need you to keep an eye on her,” I added.
“Sure, Dad. I am doing just that,” Alexander assured me.
“You have shown me that you are capable of my trust,” I said to him, patting his back.
“So, what do we do now?” Alexander asked me.
“You go on with the wedding preparations,” I said.
“But you should make it faster now to avoid any surprises,” I advised my son.
“I concur, father,” Alexander agreed with me.
Whitman’s POV:
“Now, my uncle is starting to go overboard,” I told Frank.
“What did he do again?” he asked me.
“Alexander took Fiona out of the house and I am so sure that he did all of that from his father’s influence,” I explained.
“I would advise you to stay off Fiona’s issue for now,” Frank advised.
“If they can come this far to get her, they would not think any far to harm anyone that comes in their way,” Frank explained to me.
“What if she is not happy there? I feel scared for her,” I complained to him.
“If she can move to another city and make other big moves without you, I think she would be able to care for herself,” Frank said again.
“I hope so,” I told him.
Fiona’s POV:
I thought of escaping again but this time, I didn’t even know where to go.
I have not heard from Mother and Thomas since I got here, and Whitman too.
“Mom, I miss you,” I told her as I cried over the phone.
“It feels so helpless here,” I told her again.
“You are strong, Fiona. I know you to be a very strong woman,” Mom encouraged me.
“Hang in there, child,” Mother urged me.
“Whitman stopped by to check up on us,” Mother said.
“That is amazing. Can I speak with him?” I asked her.
“Yes, here you go,” Mother said as he passed the phone on to him.
“Babe,” I said as Alexander walked in.
“Drop that phone,” he commanded.
“I am on a call. You cannot tell me not to use my phone,” I protested.
“Give me that,” he said as he snatched the phone out of my hands.
“We would need to regulate how you use your phone,” he said as he walked away.
